“So, what is going on at home?” Leon heard Charlotte say as he saw her sitting on the rug on the floor, eating stir-fried chicken and rice with her hands straight from the bowl.

“Get a spoon, Coco,” Leon said, exasperated.

“Let me feel my food and eat it,” Coco replied in a tone that said she was wronged. “Do you know I can’t eat when I am at work? I crave home-cooked food and it sucks that I can’t learn to cook.” She added, “Thanks for coming sooner and making me food.”

Leon rolled his eyes. If he hadn’t come home to feed her, she would have slept straight until tomorrow without eating. And it was not that she could not cook, she never bothered to learn. All her siblings and parents could cook and she decided to be the one who would only be burdened with eating!

He answered, “Nothing special going on at home. Same old drama. Mom and Dad call me home, give me a lecture for a few hours and then I come back to work.”
