Christina’s POVThe smug expression on his face infuriated me. I knew he was right but it wasn’t my intention to lie to his aunt. It was all his doing, hence, it should be his problem, not mine. He pulled me into his room in the guise of dressing my wound. My gaze darted around in search of the first aid box that he intended to use and I found it, sitting on the sofa.Hurriedly, I rushed to it and grabbed the box. He stared at me in question, with no clue as to what I was getting at but then I walked to the door and smiled.“You’re the one who engineered the lie, so it’s a ‘you’ problem,” with a triumphant smile on my face, I sauntered out of his room down the hallway into mine. I glanced at him from my doorstep, to see he was staring at me, an unreadable expression etched on my face but it only widened my smile at my little victory. I got into my bedroom and closed the door as silently as I could so as not to alert Aunt Eunice to my presence. I’d almost forgotten how different my ro
Christina’s POVI stared hard at the door, with his words ringing in my head, long after he was gone. It was hard to believe that Scott had said those words to me. What was happening? Why was he suddenly so nice? Firstly, he nursed me back to good health and transformed my bedroom into a mini library with my favorite books and now he wants to act out the fantasy I’d shared with his aunt. It was all too much for me and the more I thought about this new side of him, the more confused I became. All I was used to was the brooding businessman who saw me as nothing more than a business transaction he had to deal with for a year. What has changed him? Or was this to lure me enough to want to have his child? These thoughts scared me because I hadn’t done any research to prevent pregnancy. If he keeps going this way and finally gets me where he wants me, I’d be doomed with no preparations to escape his claws.I shook my head and rose to my feet, determined to not let his few acts of kindness
Christina’s POVMy heart skipped. He was serious. He was playing into the silly fantasy I revealed to his aunt. I stared at his text, with no words to respond. I swallowed and my eyes darted to see Aunt Eunice impatiently waiting for me to fill her in.“He wants to take me on a date,”“That’s lovely, honey. You should be excited!”I feigned a smile but my insides were a mess. Was he purposely messing with me?“Come on, honey. We’ve got a date to prepare for. I need to take you to the best salon in town to get your hair fixed. He needs to be blown away when he sees you,” She winked at me as she giddily rose to her feet and reached for my arm.Slowly, I pulled my chair back and rose to my feet with the bag in hand but Adams, who'd been standing by all along, came to take it from me. His aunt tugged on my arm, leading me to the house, where she got her purse, and together, we took one of the cars in the garage with a guard following us. At first, I expected Adams to object, considering I
Scott’s POVI checked to make sure the blindfold was in place before reaching for her arm to pull her around. At first, she was still and wouldn’t move but I squeezed her arm softly.“Relax, and let me lead you, little fairy,” My words were calm and they did the magic as I tugged on her arm and she blindly let me lead her out of the house, towards the waiting car, with the chauffeur ready to drive us to our destination. I got the door for her and helped her in then I rounded the car to get. The engine roared to life the moment we were settled and the car pulled out of the vast compound.“S-scott, where are you taking me?” Her words came out in a quivering voice and I heard the hint of fear in them but I reached for her palm and linked my fingers to hers, lightly caressing the inside of her palm.I noticed the moment she released a shaky breath and her glossy lips parted slightly. I stared at her gorgeous face, and her parted lips. They looked so sensual and kissable that it was taking
Scott’s POVI saw the way her cheeks heated up from the pet name I’d picked up due to her looks, some time ago. It sounded so intimate but I couldn’t think of a better way to address her. She was petite and looked so enchanting like the fairies in the fairytales I’d heard, as a kid growing up.A throat cleared and we both looked up to see Keller smiling at us.“I’d hate to be the third wheel here. So tell me what you want and I’ll get it done, while I leave you lovebirds alone to enjoy your evening, and luckily for you, I’m in the mood to overwhelm my top fan. So you get a three course meal, my lady, all prepared my me,”“Really?”“Anything for a beauty like you,” again he winked and I tried not to think too much into his words.“Umm… I don’t know. I’m too excited to think properly, but I wouldn’t want to stress you so maybe something simple?”“That’s fine but I have an idea. How about simple Potato skin bites for appetisers, grilled teriyaki chicken for the main course and cream chee
Christina’s POVFor the rest of dinner, I kept to myself, for lack of what to say but it wasn’t long before Mr. Briggs returned with my packed dessert. He directed a smile at us as he gently placed the package on the table.“I was told you’re set to leave, hence, I decided to bring this here, myself. I hope you enjoyed your meal?”“It was wonderful, Mr. Briggs, and it’s been such an honor to meet you,” I smiled at him, my excitement returning. I had no idea how Scott got to know of my little fantasy to meet with Chef Briggs but it made my evening and I didn’t know how to thank him for it. He’s been so sweet all evening, despite the cold reminder that I was still bound by his contract with my dad.“I’m glad I made your evening,” He winked and directed his attention to Scott, who had been quietly watching us, an unreadable expression etched on his face. “I’m sure you enjoyed your evening too, Reid,”“Of course, she made my night,” Scott’s lips tilted in a smile that didn’t quite reach
Christina’s POVI stepped out of the bathroom to see him standing in the middle of the room, with a bottle of water in his hand. I didn’t have to ask to know what it was_my medications.I walked to the sofa and gently placed my dress on it before moving to him to take them. He motioned to me to open up as he popped a pill into my mouth and gave me water to drink. Thereafter, he led me to the desk where the first aid box was sitting and pulled out the chair for me.I watched him bring out all of the things he’d need to dress my wound but when he tilted my head to begin, I touched his arm, meaning to stop him. His questioning gaze landed on mine.“You don’t… you don’t have to, I can do it myself,”“I want to,” I dropped my arm to let him continue. He was gentle just like the first time, and held me still so I wouldn’t move to disrupt him as he took off the plaster and began cleaning it. The way he was so gentle with it made me reflect on how different he’s been in the past few days and
Christina’s POV The car pulled through the gates of the huge estate that was the Reid family home. The property was a wide expanse of land, and the architecture was quite impressive and beautiful and I couldn’t stop staring as the chauffeur slowly rolled the car towards the garage where several other expensive cars were also parked. From the sight alone, I could tell a lot of well-known dignitaries and socialites were in attendance and I could feel my nerves rising, and anxiety settling in my guts as it began to dawn on me that I had no place here. The Reid’s were a family of renowned billionaires, with a large business empire and conglomerate, which Scott only managed half of it. As I’ve been briefed by Aunt Eunice, her elder brother, Colton Reid, managed the other half, which was a business he began building from a very young age and had done his best to raise to the top. It was almost competing with The Ashton Reid Corp, and to think his only daughter, Adeline Reid had just gradua
