Chapter Eighty-six

Sharon pursed her lips and nodded. Then she rose to her feet and without meeting Hailey's gaze, she turned back and left the living room in hasty steps.

Hailey was left watching her back in confusion because the girl had burst into tears again. That was weird.

The chaos finally subsided and she could only hear her wails from a distance.

She turned her gaze back to Kendrick whose eyes were still on her and she found herself unable to form any word.

"Are you happy now?" Kendrick leaned in and she shifted back.

What did he mean by that? Did she look happy to him? Did he think getting Sharon to apologize was the only thing that would make her happy?

"Don't worry, Hailey. I'll build you another garden."

His voice was soft, there wasn't a trace of anger in it. Even though his expression was now back to normal and he was staring at her calmly, there was a pleading tone to his voice.
