Chapter 28. Obedient

Lynda stood watching Maggie bring down her suitcase from her car while Nelvan, sitting in his wheelchair, could only touch his forehead in anticipation of what his mother would do.

"Mr. Xander, what's going on?" asked Lynda.

"Don't call me Xander if my mother is around. She'll immediately know who you are in this house if you call me that," replied Nelvan.

"May I call you by your first name? I think it's impolite," Lynda said.

Nelvan turned to look sharply at Lynda. "Can you hear what I'm saying? Call me by my name at least until my mother returns. If she finds out you're a maid here and I pretend to make you my woman, then not only will I be in trouble but you will too,"

Lynda fell silent and quickly helped Maggie with her suitcase. "Ma'am, let me help you," Lynda carried Maggie's quite large suitcase without being asked.

Seeing this, Maggie allowed Lynda to assist her with a smile. It seemed that Lynda was a good girl, despite Maggie not knowing much about Lynda's family background
