"Ben, I need to see the doctor today. Can you drop me off at the hospital, please?" I requested, as I noticed he was about to leave. "You need to see the doctor? What's wrong this time?" He seemed to have forgotten about the doctor's instructions."Can't you remember what he said? I have to attend antenatal sessions, you know?" I reminded him."Oh yeah, that's true. So sorry I forgot," he apologized."It's fine. So, would you?" I peered directly into his face."Yeah sure. Why not? Of course you're my baby, so I should," he accepted, as a matter of responsibility."Nice then. Thanks baby," I smiled."It's my pleasure, Rosy," he replied, beaming with smiles."So, I'd just go take a bath, while you wait here, okay?" I asked for his acquiescence."Sure, no problems," he answered. "Okay fine then," I said and led myself upstairs, to the bathroom, slowly. After a few minutes, I came out and got dressed. I was putting on a flayed purple silk dress that fell a little below my knees. It wasn'
I was heavily pregnant for my child. My delivery time approached quickly. All I could do was watch and wait for the arrival of my little angel.Ben and I have long ago decided on what to name our child. If it were a boy, he would be named Benjamin and if a girl, she will be Mia, we decided. Ben also bought baby items and clothings for both genders alike, some months ago, per adventure it turns out to be either of them. I was happy and played along, although I felt somewhat guilty too.At first, we hadn't any foreknowledge as to the gender of our unborn 'child,' because the doctor advised that it wasn't easily fathomable at the early stages. He obviously said so in a bid to align to the plan. He was so tactical. I loved what he was doing. After we faked the ultrasound results, the doctor thrust it to Ben and said,"Here is the result. We're expecting a baby boy soon!" The doctor spread the good tidings."Yes! I knew it! I knew it would be a male child!" He threw his clenched fists in
"The deal is done now and luckily, we came out uncaught. We're just being so lucky!" The doctor said happily, when I surreptitiously visited, without the knowledge of Ben."Yes doctor. I have to fulfill my promise. It was indeed a job well done. I'm so happy. Thank you so much, doctor," I appreciated."How about the remaining pay? When will you get to pay it?" He asked the all important question."I'd get it from Ben today, when I get home. I'd give it to you tomorrow unfailingly, please," I replied."So, what were you going to tell him about the money? How would you have him give you the money?" The doctor was suddenly concerned."I'd think about that later. When I reach that bridge, I'll definitely cross it!" I said, tactfully."Well, if you say so," he shrugged. It was just the both of us in the office, so we spoke unrestrained. We didn't bother if anyone eavesdropped into our conversation. I had earlier told Ben that I was going to see my best friend, so I had nothing much to worry
I was shocked to the marrow, at the sight of my husband. My heart skipped a beat. My eyes popped, as I quivered greatly, sending my jaws dropping down unrestrained. I was totally speechless, as I couldn't just believe my eyes. I had no idea he followed me up to this place. I wondered how long he had been here."Oh wow! This is the Stephanie's place you said you were heading to, huh?" He smirked, with a questioning look on his face.I kept mum and moved my eyes away from his gaze, down to the ground, while I led my hand behind my neck, caressing it softly. I glued my eyes to the floor, uneasy under his looks as I thought of what would happen next."I'm talking to you, Roseville! Have you suddenly gone dumb? What's wrong with you?" He got raged, hardly able to control his anger. His hoarse voice sent shivers down my spines. I trembled, in great fear."I…I…I just…" I stuttered, unsure of what to say."You just did what? Is this Stephanie's house? You tell me!" He yelled angrily at me."N
Bernard's POVEver since after our honeymoon, Roseville had always loved seeing the doctor. I sensed foul play somewhere, but I really didn't want to make anything out of it.What particularly stunned me, was how alluring Rosy looked, each time she goes to see the doctor. Also, she didn't want me to be around her, while she went to see the doctor. Two things were probable here. It was either she cheated on me, or she had other plans, secret ones I mean, with the doctor. My curiosity took the better part of me, so I decided to find out things by myself. When the doctor told me that we lost our baby, I couldn't really make out why it was that we did. For all I know and care, the child grew healthily, up to the delivery time. If there was anything that should have happened to the child, it should be due to ineptitude by the doctor, I thought.I was in great pain. All my hopes were lost and my heart was shattered into many pieces, when I heard the doctor say, "We lost him!"I could har
"Tell me everything that transpired between you and the doctor! Don't lie to me!" I directed my angry gaze at Roseville, as soon as I entered the room. She was caught unawares. Her heart pounded furiously in her chest, as she turned to meet with my gaze."I… I just went to see the doctor," she replied, innocently."Liar! You think I don't know about all your secret plans with the doctor?" I hurled, in fierce anger.Roseville stood still, in awe of what I just said. She quivered in great fear, as my words sank deep into her ears. She looked anywhere but my dreary face."Don't you ever lie to me! Were you ever pregnant?" I resumed, peering deep into her eyes."I…I didn't. It was…It was…" she stuttered, shivering vigorously."It was what? What was it, you fucking fool?" I gritted my teeth in anger, cutting her off."It was the doctor's idea," she spelt out."The doctor's idea? You're such a liar!" I fired back at her, landing a resounding slap across her cheeks. She held onto her red hot
I woke up suddenly, in the middle of the night, breathing heavily, as beads of sweat gathered on my weary face. My whole body palpated greatly in disbelief. My eyes blinked, as I peered from side to side of the dimly lit room, in a bid to distinguish between wonderworld and reality. I just had a nightmare, a terrible one at that! It all seemed real, especially because of the darkness in the room. I immediately jerked out of bed, as though being pursued by an angry wild beast, or perhaps a mythical creature. Hardly seeing where I was heading to, I coggled with my wobbly legs, to turn on the light. I retraced a few steps back to bed, my heart still pounding vigorously in my chest. I took a few deep breaths and sat down on the bed, hoping not to wake Roseville up.As I was about to lay back and sleep, Rosevile tilted her head slowly toward my direction and opened her almond eyes widely and took a long stare at me."What's wrong Ben? Why are you awake? Why did you switch on the light?"
I was woken up at exactly 7am by the ringing of my phone. Snapping out of my unrestful sleep, I got up, looking around to find Roseville, but surprisingly, I couldn't find her. I picked up my phone to see who it was that disturbed my sleep. It was mum that called.I wondered what prompted the early morning call from mum. So many thoughts raced through my distressed mind.'What could have happened to her? Hope everything is alright? Hope it wasn't related to the nightmare?' I was too curious to know what caused the call. I picked up the call just immediately before it ran off."Hello mum!" I mumbled tiredly, as I picked up the call."Hi Ben! Good morning," her gentle voice sounded wearily."What's wrong, mum? Why calling so early this morning? Are you okay?" I was a bit worried."I'm not fine, dear. Something just happened," she replied, whimpering amidst her words."What happened, mum? Please tell me about it?" I didn't like the suspense."It's about your dad," she said, slowly. She
