Chapter One

Estella's POV Rain thundered heavily on the roofs as I walked quickly away from the convenience store that I just finished shopping from. There was no point in running anyway since I was already beaten by it. I hate this time of the year and even though I don't like it, I have to deal with it. I turned into the alley that was barricaded in greasy walls and the rain made it look like it was shining. When I got to the back door of the restaurant, I quickly jammed my key into it and turned it, grateful that it opened once this time. I quickly walked in and immediately, I felt the warmth of the place. Ignoring the gnawing pain in my abdomen, I pulled off the coat I had on and hung it on one empty rack there, allowing the water to drain away from it. I can't take the coat with me inside, only if I want to drop water all over the place. And I was not interested in taking an ear-full speech from Astrid, the owner. “Aren't you so sweet?” Speak of the devil. I rolled my eyes internally

Chapter Two

Estela's POV The following day came by very fast and I dragged myself out of bed to make my usual meal, with what I had in the fridge, to an episode of groaning in pain. I ate and had my bath. Today was my day off at the cafe, and I had nothing to do with my morning. I decided to check the applications I sent out to see if there was any reply. But there was nothing. I sighed as I relaxed back on the couch, staring at the picture of my mother that was on the opposite side of the wall. We looked alike. It was like I was staring at the older version of myself. The heaviness in my heart did not ease as I continued to look at it. Not knowing, tears start to roll from my eyes. I do not regret that I was in debt to pay for her treatment, but that I could not do anything for her before she died. She died in pain and there was nothing I could do. I just stood by and watched as it happened. Not able to do anything about it. She was the only one I had. Worked her ass off for me. I never knew

Chapter Three

Jason's POV “Don't fucking tell me that! Your reason does not make any sense for the sales report to drop by one percent! What happened to working hard?” I slammed my hand so hard on the table that the coffee cups shook and almost tipped over. They looked scared already and that was good. A better reaction. “I am not paying the lot of you ridiculous amount of money for my sales report to be dropping. I need improvement every single month. We are not the top business in the country for no reason.” I snarled at all of them. They didn't look me in the eye. And that was the best decision they could ever make today. Anyone who tried it will be the one to take the blame for everyone. I feel like firing someone. “Get out.” I waved my hand at them dismissively. They all scrambled out like I was after their lives. I rested back in the chair and spun away from the table, watching what was going on below me. From this high, I can see cars coming and going and unnecessary business. Even thou

Chapter Four

Estella's POV I stammered my name out, still dazed. When the lady told me to follow the older man, I did as I was told. I didn't know where he was going or what he was up to. All I knew was that I followed him. He entered a big room that I assumed was a conference room with how long the table was and the chairs that were there. I didn't know that he was introducing me to my new boss until he said it. I took my time to compose myself behind me before I faced him to talk. Immediately, I came out from behind him to introduce myself to my new boss, and my jaw dropped. And I meant, literally drop. I could not stop the staring that I was doing. Not in the seven heavens would I have imagined that the mane that I would be working for would look like this. He was the most handsome man I have ever met in my entire life. He was resting in the chair like he owned the whole world. Well, he did have the whole world given the amount of money he had. I mean, he was a billionaire. I did my homewo

Chapter Five

My cheeks are still heated anytime I remember what he said yesterday regarding my looks. I mean, I'm not exactly bad looking and I dress properly, but then, I felt like it was his way of humiliating me. I did not bother to do anything with the card. The plan was to return it to him this morning. I might not be rich, but I was not a gold digger either. I was overthinking. I got down from the taxi and made my way into the building. Everywhere was as it was yesterday. Sparkling and all. I am particularly hyped up about the job, giving this my first official job after graduating. And I wanted to give it my all. I entered the elevator with a group of people and noticed that my floor had been pressed already, so I kept quiet and concentrated on getting to my floor, which was the top floor. “Do you know that Jason has gotten himself a new secretary?” One lady chipped, not so silently behind me. They weren't talking about the CEO right? I mean, who in their right minds called their bosses

Chapter Six

Estella's POV My jaw dropped open. I wish I had the willpower to close it. All I could do was stare at him. Even if I was clumsy, I knew that the glass was blurred before. I could not see into the office whatever was going on. So, the meaning of this is that he's been looking at me the whole time I thought he was around. Probably thinking I was an idiot. He must have seen me when I walked around the office checking things out, or when I did a little twirl in hopes of celebrating me getting a job. Or when I drank my coffee and almost spewed it out because of how hot it was. God knows how many dumb things I have done since I entered this office this morning. I still haven't taken my eyes off of the man. The same thing with him too. He was looking at me and there was nothing I could do to stop him. He had this blank expression that I could not read in his eyes. Few seconds later, he gestures that I should enter his office and he turns away from me. And right in front of my eyes, the
