I heard the door open but I didn't hear it close. What could possibly be taking Jacob this long or who.

“What are you doing here?” I heard him ask as I walked towards the entrance door. Looking at his back I could tell he was pissed. His whole body looks tense and stiff.

“Aurora invited me,” I heard Daniel's smug voice. I rolled my eyes and got closer to them.

“That's impossible,” I took Jacob's hands and joined mine and faced Daniel.

“You are a bit late,” I said to Daniel, ignoring the look Jacob was giving to me.

“I had to make sure I wasn't being followed,” he said. I looked at him with a straight face, still holding Jacob's hands in a way he could see.

“And were you?” I asked him.

“No,” he sighed and placed his hands in his pocket, “I wouldn't risk that,” Jacob snorted and cursed under his breath.

“Well, come on in,” I said. He was about to enter when Jacob stopped him.

“We need to search you for a listening device,” he said and I sighed.

“Is that really necessary?” Daniel
