The Traitors

"He really sent me money." Daisy muttered in disbelief after checking her account balance.

Not because of the fantastic amount of money River sent her, but Daisy couldn't believe it because the man had the heart to end their relationship with money like this.

Daisy tried to call River's number while gritting her teeth to stop the tightness in her chest. The first call was just cut off, but Daisy didn't give up and tried to contact River again. Her trembling hand pressed the phone to her ear. Her eyes filled with tears when she heard the operator's warning about River's number being inactive.

"No. No…" Daisy shook her head while a single tear rolled down her cheek. "Why is he like this? Why did he pay me and tell me to quit?"

Daisy's right hand raised to squeeze her chest, which felt very tight. Her tears flowed even harder when she realized that she was no different from River's exes, who were dumped by that man.
