Meanwhile, back at home, Cecilia could not take her mind off the things her daughter, Josephine, told her yesterday.

“How could someone be this cruel?” she asked herself time and time again as she paced around the room. In this moment, she remembered the things that happened to her younger sister.

Carolina, her younger sister, the one whom everyone referred to as the most beautiful between she and her, loved a man with all her heart. She gave him everything even when she saw some red flags in the guy; she ignored them, hoping that he’d change.

Later, he impregnated her and ran away from taking responsibility. Having no money with her or her sister, and with no one to borrow from as life was unfair to them, they could not do the necessary check-up during her pregnancy, and thus, by the time she was ready to give birth, she died with the baby.

Cecilia was all messed up during this time. Right now, she was not ready to let her daughter go through that. She’d do everything in her power to not let this happen ever again. And to the motherfucker, she would first of all curse.

Earlier at midnight, Cecilia had woken up from her sleep and tiptoed to Josephine’s bedroom. She picked up her phone when Josephine was still sleeping and made sure to copy out Marcus’ phone number to her phone.

She dialed his number now, and he picked up, not knowing who was on the call.

“Hello,” Marcus sounded. His voice, a deep baritone voice, was cool on the other end of the phone.

“You cruel man!” Cecilia sounded strict. But Marcus, not knowing who was on the phone, kept his cool. He was curious to know who called him and called him names even without any greeting.

“Who is this, please?”

“How dare you impregnate my daughter, fire her from work, and make her life miserable? Everything she tried to do was to love…”

“Hold it right there!” Marcus interrupted.

“What do you mean, impregnate?” He sounded confused.

“I didn’t impregnate anyone. Are you sure you are speaking to the right person?”

“I know who I am speaking to, you fucker. I am Josephine’s mother, and you fucking thing impregnated my daughter. But because you don’t want to take up responsibility, you fired her, huh? Fuck you!”

“Just so you know, we will be fine without you. We will make it through without you. We don’t fucking need your help!” Cecilia yelled and then hung up the phone without letting Marcus respond.

Hanging up the phone, Cecilia knew that there was nothing that would come out of the call. But she felt better with herself cursing the motherfucker out and letting him know they would be fine without him.

However, Marcus was too confused. “Pregnancy?” His dilemma wore him like a cloth.

He and Josephine indeed had sex without protection. So, yes, he knew he could have impregnated her without him knowing about it yet.

His troubled thoughts were evident on his face. Though he didn’t love Josephine, he knew he was not a man to let his child be fatherless while he was still alive.

He looked at Vivian, who had just walked out of his bathroom naked.

Earlier, before the call came in, they had gone three rounds in a row. Just for this sake, he had used sex enhancer pills. He wanted to fuck Vivian out of this world and that she wouldn’t leave him for another man again, be it for money or for sex.

“What am I doing?” he asked himself.

“Let’s go another round, baby.” Vivian knelt to his waist at this moment. She grabbed his already fallen dick and inserted it in her mouth.

She began to lick every part of his dick, sucking it like a young adult who was obsessed with licking her favorite lollipop, but Marcus' dick failed to rise.

“What is happening?” she asked. Rising to her feet and kissing his cheek, kissing his chest, pushing him to the bed. She sat on him, wanting to ride him like a cowgirl.

“I need you to fuck me like a whore, baby. I want your delicious dick inside of me again, right now,” she said sexily.

“Fuck me now, baby,” she moaned, imagining Marcus' dick inside of her.

“I just need to breathe,” Marcus pushed her aside and got up from the bed. He walked to the bath and got into the shower.

Allowing water to fall down on his face, his past trauma grabbed him instantly.

Twenty-five years ago, at the age of five, Marcus’ mother died of heart cancer. He had no dad to take care of him as a child because his dad failed to take responsibility from the time he was still in his mother’s belly.

He was taken to an orphanage by their neighbors out of goodwill. A new parent who could not have a child came to adopt him from there. Everything was going well until the abducted mother began to sexually harass him because she could not control her sex drive. being fed up, he ran away and began to hustle by himself from the age of ten.

He did not want this kind of life for his child. As much as he was totally in love with Vivian, he also loved his child, and he would take responsibility.

“We need to talk,” he said to Vivian as soon as he got out of the shower.

Vexed and ready to leave, Vivian had already dressed in her gown and was only waiting for Marcus to get out of the shower, get transport fare from him, or make him drop her off because he did not give her another round of sex she wanted. But seeing his face,

“What is the matter?” she asked. Her anger disappeared immediately.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, “Josephine is pregnant,” Marcus said, his voice sober.

“And?” Vivian sounded, curious as to what more or what big deal was in it that a lady was pregnant.

“And I am the one responsible for it,” Marcus declared.

“And?” Vivian asked again, wanting to know where he was going to land.

Marcus’s words hung heavy in the air. “I’m going to take responsibility for my child.”

Vivian’s eyes widened in disbelief. The room seemed to shrink as the weight of his words pressed down on her chest. For a moment, she didn’t speak. She couldn’t. The shock was too much.

Then, with a sudden surge of emotion, she stood up from the edge of the bed. Her face twisted in a mixture of anger, fear, and something far darker—possessiveness. She took a step toward him, her breath shallow.

“You dare?” Her voice trembled at first, but then it hardened into a cold, cutting tone. “You dare throw away how we have reconnected after a long time of being apart for that… thing you barely even know?!”

Marcus flinched at the venom in her words, but Vivian didn’t stop. She took another step closer, her eyes burning with fury. “You begged me to come back to you. You promised me you are everything I wanted now and that you will take care of me and you dare want to complicate things by being a damn fool?”

She grabbed his arm, her nails digging into his skin. “You will not go anywhere near that woman or that child. I won’t let you ruin everything, Marcus. You are mine, do you hear me?” Her voice cracked with a mix of desperation and possessiveness, the fear of losing him raw in her tone.

Marcus stared at her, stunned by the intensity of her reaction, but Vivian wasn’t done. She shook him, her grip tightening. “You think you can just waltz in and pretend this never happened? You think I’ll just stand by and let you play the hero to her? No. I won’t allow it.”

Her voice dropped to a deadly whisper. “If you even think about going to her… I will destroy you. You think I won’t? You have no idea what I’m capable of, Marcus. No idea what I’ll do to keep you from making the biggest mistake of your life.”
