*** A Few Days Ago ****

Marcus sat hunched over his laptop, fingers moving swiftly over the keys, absorbed in his work. A sharp knock interrupted his focus.

"Enter," he murmured, not taking his eyes off the screen. His fingers continued typing, the rhythmic sound echoing through the quiet office.

The door creaked open, and the woman entered without hesitation, her footsteps light as she crossed the room. She didn’t say a word but silently approached, settling herself onto the couch beside Marcus’s desk.

"Do you never listen?" Marcus finally glanced up, his eyes locking onto her form. A grin tugged at the corners of his mouth. "You’ve been told not to sit there, remember?"

Her lips quirked in amusement, her eyes gleaming with a mixture of defiance and affection. "Maybe I like the view," she teased, her voice sultry.

Marcus’s smile deepened, and he slowly pushed away from his desk, the sound of the chair scraping against the floor filling the air. "I prefer you close, not across the room," he said, standing up and crossing to where she sat. He extended his hand, his touch gentle as he pulled her to her feet.

"Come here," he murmured. "I’ve missed you."

She hesitated, her cheeks flushing at the intimacy of the request. Despite the hesitation, she felt drawn to him, a magnetic pull that had always been there between them. Slowly, she moved to his side, her hands resting on his shoulders as she perched herself onto his lap.

For a moment, they simply sat there, the tension building between them. Marcus’ hand slid to her waist, his fingers grazing the skin beneath her blouse. His touch was light, almost teasing, but it ignited a fire within her.

"You know," he whispered, leaning in to kiss the curve of her neck, "I love how you smell. It drives me crazy."

Her breath hitched, and she tried to suppress the shiver that ran through her body. "Marcus, we’re at work," she murmured, though her voice lacked the conviction it might have had if they weren’t already so close.

Marcus smirked, his lips brushing against her ear as he spoke. "No one can hear us," he assured her. "This office is soundproof. So, relax."

Before she could protest further, his hands slid to her chest, his fingers teasing the edges of her top. She gasped, her body instinctively arching toward him.

"I shouldn’t…," she started, but her voice faltered as he continued, his touch gentle yet commanding.

"Do you want me to stop?" Marcus asked, his breath warm against her skin.

"No," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "But it feels dangerous here, in the office."

He chuckled, low and dark. "Danger is half the fun."

His hands were more insistent now, slipping beneath her blouse, and she shivered as his fingers found her breast. The heat between them intensified, and her thoughts began to scatter, replaced by the desire building within her. She could feel her heartbeat quicken, her body betraying her initial resistance.

He didn’t hesitate; his lips captured hers in a heated kiss, slow at first, but deepening as he pulled her closer. His hands moved with purpose, unbuttoning her shirt, freeing her from the confines of her clothing as he kissed down her neck.

The world outside the room faded. There were only the two of them, tangled in the space between desire and the forbidden. Her breath caught in her throat as he cupped her breast, his thumb flicking over her sensitive nipple.

"Do you feel that?" he whispered against her lips, his hand moving lower.

"Yes," she breathed, her hands trembling as she grabbed at his shirt, pulling him closer. "But someone might—"

"Forget the rest of the world," Marcus growled, his hands finding their way to the waistband of her skirt. He didn’t wait for her permission; his fingers slipped inside, brushing against her skin in a way that made her gasp. "Just focus on us."

He pulled her closer, positioning her so that she was leaning over the desk. He placed his hands on her hips, guiding her with a steady hand, his body pressing against hers as he kissed the back of her neck.

"Don’t stop," she moaned, unable to hide the pleasure in her voice as he teased her, his hands becoming more insistent.

"Tell me what you want," Marcus demanded, his voice thick with need. He wanted to hear her admit it, to hear the desire spilling from her lips.

Her response came almost without thinking. "I want you inside me," she moaned, her body arching against his.

"Beg for it," he demanded, his fingers working their way down her body, tugging at her panties.

"Please," she gasped, barely able to form the words. "I need you."

Without another word, Marcus unzipped his pants and brought out his hard dick, positioning himself behind her as he pressed forward. She gasped as he slipped his dick inside her, the connection instantaneous. They both moved in sync, the rhythm building faster and more frantic as they lost themselves in each other.

With every thrust, every movement, she felt herself unraveling, her body responding to his touch in ways she could never have imagined. Her moans filled the room, but with the soundproof walls, she felt no fear of anyone hearing. The only thing that mattered now was the way he made her feel.

They reached the edge together, the world crashing around them as they both released.

Breathing heavily, Marcus pulled away, and she collapsed back into his arms, her legs weak.

"That was… intense," she whispered, her voice thick with satisfaction.

Then she rose from Marcus’ arm and stepped into the bathroom. Cleaning herself up, she headed for the door. But Marcus quickly got up and grabbed her hand.

"You're not leaving yet," Marcus smiled, his voice deep with a promise. He pulled her back into his lap, his hands gently caressing her back as he reached into the desk drawer.

She watched, wondering what he was about to bring out from there.

And in a second, he pulled out his hand from the drawer, a small box revealed.

Her breath caught as she realized what it might be.  Just then, he opened it, revealing a diamond ring that sparkled in the soft light of the office.

She covered her mouth with her palm. She couldn’t believe her eyes.

"Marry me," Marcus asked, his voice full of sincerity and something else—something she hadn’t expected.

Tears welled in her eyes as she looked at the ring, then at him.

"Yes," she whispered, her voice breaking. "Yes, I will."

*** Present Day ***

Josephine blushed, cherishing what had become her best memory. She had good news for Marcus today. The intimacy they had created something wonderful in her belly. However, she had to wait to tell him because they were at work and Marcus was her boss.

She yawned widely, opening her eyes more as she stared at the laptop screen. It didn’t matter if she blushed earlier, she was overwhelmed with emails and had a night shift ahead, per protocol.

“Have you heard the news?” Bianca, Josephine’s desk neighbor, suddenly asked. They were gossip partners whenever they weren’t swamped with emails to reply to.

But Josephine couldn’t give Bianca the attention she craved, so Bianca turned to Elizabeth, another desk neighbor.

“Is it about Marcus getting married?” Elizabeth asked calmly. She had already heard the news but wasn’t the type to start conversations at the office. That was Bianca’s specialty.

“Yes! How did you know?” Bianca asked, surprised. She thought she was the only one in the know.

“I heard it from… never mind,” Elizabeth replied, always keeping her source a secret.

Josephine couldn’t help but eavesdrop. She was dating Marcus, and just a few days ago, he had proposed to her. No one in the office knew about their relationship—at least not yet. So, she was shocked to hear that people already knew Marcus was getting married.

“Do you expect him not to get married?” Josephine finally joined the conversation, pretending to be indifferent.

“Do you know who it is?” she asked casually, discreetly covering the ring on her finger. Marcus had told her to keep their relationship a secret until he decided otherwise. Had he told someone himself?

“They say he proposed to her a few days ago, and the wedding is happening soon,” Elizabeth added.

“My God, he’s so handsome. I wish he’d noticed me. But now he’s going to belong to someone else forever,” Bianca lamented.

Josephine smiled inwardly. Marcus was the charming General manager every woman admired. If they discovered she was dating him, their reactions would be priceless.

“Ms. Walter!” A voice suddenly boomed as the office door swung open. Josephine looked up. She was the only Ms. Walter in the bank.

“The HR wants to see you right now,” the voice said before the door closed again.

Josephine stood up immediately. The HR department frequently gave her extra work because she was one of the bank’s most diligent employees. She braced herself for whatever task awaited her during her night shift.

“Yes, sir. You sent for me?” she asked as she stepped into the HR office.

“Yes, the boss asked me to give you this,” Mr. Thompson, the HR manager, said, stretching out a white envelope toward her.

Josephine was surprised. She’d never been handed a white envelope before. What could this mean?

Mr. Thompson’s smirk only heightened her curiosity. She quickly opened the envelope and unfolded the letter.

As she read the letterhead, her heart sank.

“A termination letter?” Josephine exclaimed in disbelief.
