Chapter 173

“I think we should head home,” Kim yelled over the loud music at Ava who had her eyes fixed on the latest shot of whiskey the bartender pushed towards her. She had lost count of how many she’s taken but one thing was certain yet, she wasn’t numb enough not to feel the pain that had been gnawing at her for weeks now.

“I don’t think I want to go back to the penthouse,” Ava mumbled, throwing her head back and downing the shot in one clean sweep welcoming the burning sensation along her throat.

“What?” Kim yelled back, she couldn’t make out Ava’s mumbling due to the loud noise coming from the speaker and everyone else inside the nightclub.

“I’m not going back to the penthouse, Kim,” Ava yelled. “There’s nothing left for me there anymore, I should never have gone back the first time. I should’ve called it quits right there and then.”
