Chapter 17

Marcie's POV

I had been in the storeroom for a while working my ass off. Everywhere was so dusty, and all the files, books, documents, and appliances were looking so unkempt and not in a good position.

I wondered where to start working from. The job that Mr. Carsen has given me did look like what two people could do alone, talk more of what a single person would do.

I had been trying my best to clean up the dust on the appliances, and I was already getting hungry and tired.

How could I be sent down here to suffer for no reason at all? I was trying to help him forget about what happened, but it seemed that anytime I tried helping him, he got angry.

I kept cleaning as fast as I could so that I could try my best to finish it before the end of the day, which I knew was impossible.

At some point, I had to take down a set of files, clean up the shelf, and then take them down to sit on the floor and clean them up.
