Brielle swung her fist through the air until it connected with the man’s crooked nose. He stumbled backwards, with widened eyes as he observed the brunette in shock.
As blood began trickling down his nostrils, his hands flew to cover the wound. He winced as he cast his hazel eyes on the blood now covering his palm. “You impetuous girl!” The man yelled. “Do you have any idea what you have just done?” He scolded. Brielle’s head rocked back as she belted out a menacing laugh. Her long, wavy brunette locks swayed as she shook her head in disbelief. “What I’ve done?” She chuckled as she raised her eyebrows at the middle-aged man. “You come to my home and insist that I let you take over my pack, whilst I run around playing pretty little Luna?” Brielle soared with laughter as she recalled the conversation she had initially endured with Alpha Bex. Brielle took a step closer to the auburn haired man. “I am the Alpha of the Shadow Pack and you’ll do well to remember that, Bex. Now run along, unless you want to leave here with more than a broken nose.” Brielle smiled sweetly at Alpha Bex as she watched his cheeks turn to a bright shade of crimson. “You’ll regret this.” He spat at the twenty-one year old. “I’m not counting on it.” She shrugged, before waving her right hand. “Bye now, have a safe trip home.” Alpha Bex turned on his heel as he scoffed at the girl, before storming his way back to the SUV he had travelled in. Brielle chuckled as she watched another sad excuse for an Alpha attempt to bargain their way into her pack, insisting that they would ‘bring the pack to it’s fullest potential’ by combining the packs, before carrying on explaining that Brielle ‘would have much more time to relax as Luna instead’. She rolled her green eyes at the thought. Each Alpha who had attempted to persuade her had left here broken in one way or another. She didn’t need to combine her pack with another, they were already the second strongest pack in the country. Aside from insulting her with their presumptions she wasn’t a competent warrior or Alpha, there wasn’t anything these leader wannabes could offer her. Unfortunately, Brielle wasn’t surprised by any of their attempts. She was the first female Alpha the werewolf world had known and throughout her childhood, her father had always made her aware of the struggles she would one day face because of that. So, she had spent hours training every day since her sixth birthday. Her father would take time out of his daily Alpha duties to train her first hand, preparing her to be the greatest warrior the community had known. Aside from the Blood Moon Pack, Brielle and the Shadow Pack were the strongest you could come across. They dedicated their days to training and developing their combat skills. Frankly, Blood Moon was only stronger because they housed over two-thousand wolves. The Shadow Pack were, however, not too far off. The pack housed around one-thousand-and-four-hundred wolves. But you know what they say, there is strength in numbers. Brielle shook her head as she retreated to the pack house, where her father and sister were in fits of hysterics in the doorway. Her father, David, clapped his hands in celebration as he watched Brielle return to them. He was immensely proud of her, she had turned into the warrior he had always hoped she would. Her fiery nature was just an added benefit she had gotten from her mother. Brielle’s younger sister, Harlie, wiped the joyous tears from her blue eyes. She had always enjoyed watching her sister deter away the old pervs asking for her hand in marriage, it was something Harlie would never get bored of. “Another one bites the dust.” Harlie winked at her older sister, as Brielle climbed the stairs to the main entrance. Brielle laughed as she rested her head on her father’s shoulder. “I can’t say I don’t enjoy putting them in their place.” She admitted. David wrapped his arms around his two daughters and squeezed them tightly against him. “Life is never boring with you two.” He chuckled. “I’m proud of you Bri, you don’t need a man to run this pack. Hell, you run it better than I did.” He joked. Brielle chuckled against her fathers shoulder. “Don’t worry, dad. I’ll keep putting those losers in their place.” She promised. “Until she meets her mate.” Harlie added, cautiously eyeing her father. David had never enjoyed the idea that his two baby girls would one day find their other halves. In his eyes, no one could ever be good enough for his daughters. They deserved the world and he had already set his mind on the fact that no man would ever fit the criteria his girls needed. Luckily for him, it didn’t seem as though Brielle had any interest in meeting hers. “Please.” David scoffed as he rolled his green eyes. “Over my dead body will some mutt be coming anywhere near either of you.” Brielle grinned as she winked at her younger sister. Although they were never truly interested in finding their so called ‘destined partner’, the two girls had always enjoyed winding their father up with the thought. His overprotective ways would almost always send him into a meltdown whenever the word mate was mentioned. Especially considering the fact that his daughters were now of mating age. Between Brielle being twenty-one and Harlie being nineteen, sooner or later the dreaded day would arrive. Suddenly, Brielle’s mother came rushing out of the door. Looking practically identical to her firstborn daughter, Brielle, her green eyes flickered with concern as her long, brunette waves were scattered in a messy state. Failing to notice to worry evident on his mate’s face, David beamed as Sophia joined them. “Soph, you should have seen it.” He chuckled as he shook his head. “Bri broke the loser’s nose!” Sophia empathetically smiled at her daughter, before her face fell blank once more. “That’s great, sweetie. However, I’m afraid we now have bigger concerns.” David and his daughters frowned as they waited for Sophia to elaborate. They weren’t too sure what could have Sophia so stressed, usually nothing could phase her. “The Blood Moon Alpha’s.” She began. “They’ve requested an audience with Brielle.” “Requested?” David’s eyebrow perched as he questioned his mate. Sophia’s eyes locked with Brielle’s momentarily, before meeting David’s gaze once more. “Well actually, more like demanded.”David scowled as he listened to his mate. He hated the previous Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack with a passion. A long term rivalry had occurred when the Alpha had attempted to take David’s sister as his chosen mate. David didn’t believe in chosen mates, and contrary to what he wanted for his daughters, believed taking a chosen mate was an insult to the moon goddess and the plans she had made for each of her children. However, he was willing the bend the rules of his own beliefs when it came to his daughters. David hadn’t seen the Alpha of Blood Moon for years, although he had heard the title of the pack’s Alpha had been passed down to his triplet sons just a few years ago. He hadn’t met the triplets, but he imagined if they were anything like their father then he would despise them too. David scoffed as he nonchalantly waved his had in the air, dismissing what he had been told. “Absolutely not, they aren’t welcome here.” He objected as he headed into the pack house. Followin
Brielle gritted her teeth as she locked eyes with Scarlett. This had been the last way she intended to spend her Friday afternoon, yet here she was. She couldn’t shake the feeling that this wouldn’t go well, she knew the triplets wouldn’t be here to suggest another marriage proposal like the other losers. If they wanted the pack, they would try and take it from her by force instead. Brielle knew being the first female Alpha in a predominantly male world would prove to be difficult, but she hadn’t anticipated how quickly the difficulty would arise. Brielle frowned as she felt Ocean rapidly become unsettled, yet unwilling to share why. Unfortunately, she didn’t have time to play twenty questions with her suddenly mute wolf, so Brielle hoped going and dealing with the triplets would resolve that issue instead. Scarlet and Harlie joined Brielle’s side, holding out their hands for Brielle to take. “Ready?” Harlie questioned. Brielle grinned as she took their hands and gently s
The brothers eyes flickered amongst each other. Each triplet wore a different expression that displayed their feelings on the matter quite clearly. Ryker’s smile burned brighter than the sun, with excitement and hope gleaming in his crystal blue eyes. He felt as though he had been waiting an eternity to find their mate, even though it was actually only a matter of months ago he decided to stop sleeping around with random she-wolves. Reid appeared skeptical, with his lips slightly pouted and his eyebrows furrowed. His eyes cautiously observed the pack house before him, wondering if it was really true that their mate could be found inside. Reid had always found himself on the fence when it came to meeting their mate. He wasn’t infatuated by the idea, like his brother, but he wasn’t exactly against meeting her either. He always figured they’d meet her when the time was right, but the time was absolutely not right at this moment. He had a date with Penelope at 7pm, how would he g
The triplets stood bickering in the said Alpha’s office, contemplating their plan of action for the so called mate nearby. River groaned as he threw his head back in frustration, he felt like he was fighting a losing battle. “Ryker, for fuck sake. We’re here for one reason and one reason only, to take control over this pack.” He argued, before issuing Ryker a warning look. Ryker rolled his eyes before dismissively flicking his hand in front of River. “Well our mate is in the pack, whether you like it or not. When we take over, she’ll still be here.” He objected. River sighed as he began to massage his temples. “We’ll deal with that later.” River couldn’t understand his brothers infatuation with meeting their mate, he’d been clear for as long as he could remember that he wouldn’t accept whoever it was. “Aren’t you even a little curious to see who it is?” Reid shrugged, as his hands fiddled in the glass jar of mints on the Alpha’s desk. “Why?” River asked flatly. “It doesn
River scoffed at the girl in disbelief. He wasn’t going to fight her, it was against his morals to fight a woman unless he was paired with one during training. Much less was he going to fight his mate as a way of taking her pack. Ryker was right, it didn’t have to be like this. Granted, he didn’t plan to accept her as his mate either but he certainly wasn’t going to get what he wanted this way. “You can’t be serious.” River laughed at the petite woman. She was barely tall enough to reach his shoulder, let alone take both him and his brothers on. Although, he didn’t disagree with Reid either. He was certain he would have plenty of fun throwing her around the bedroom. “Scared?” Brielle taunted, as she confidently placed her hands on her exposed waist. She was dying for the opportunity to show this idiot how capable she truly was. River chuckled again as he rolled his eyes. His deep, baritone laugh set Brielle’s nerves alight. There was something about the sound that she found
“What the hell is the Battle of the Alpha’s?” Scarlett blurted out, as she finally found her voice in the overcrowded room. Harlie frowned as she stepped forward, narrowing her eyes at the smug challenger. “You can’t be serious.” She questioned. “That hasn’t been done in over a century, you really think King Nathanial will waste his time over you spoilt men spitting your dummy out because my sister won’t just hand over her pack?” She glared at the triplet in disbelief. River shrugged, before turning his back to his mate’s sister. He lifted his brow as his eyes locked with Brielle’s. “I guess we’ll find out, if your sister accepts the challenge.” Brielle thought for a moment as she glared back at Alpha. She was never one to back down from a challenge but where the price of her pack was concerned, she couldn’t afford to make the wrong decision. However, just like River, Brielle was too strong willed for her own good. Brielle knew if she didn’t accept the challenge, it wouldn’t
“Have you lost your fucking mind?” Ryker yelled out to River. His eyes blazed with fury as he ground his jaw, he was livid. He couldn’t wrap his head around River’s stupidity, all he could think about was how selfish his brother had been. River rolled his eyes as he let out an exasperated sigh. “Liven up, Ry. What’s the worst that could happen?” River wasn’t shocked by Ryker’s outburst, quite frankly he had been anticipating it. However, he had presumed his brother would have waited until they were off the Shadow Pack land before kicking up at fuss. “She is our mate, Riv! How can you be so god damn narrow minded!” Ryker spat, as he took threatening steps toward the eldest. “All you think about is yourself, who cares what Reid and I want, right?” Sick of Ryker being in his face, River forcefully shoved his brother away from him. “Are you kidding me, Ry?” He exclaimed as his face hardened. “This is what you and Reid wanted, remember? Until thirty minutes ago, you were sat in my
The last few days had been intense for Brielle, she had been none stop. Her days had mainly consisted of carrying out her Alpha duties to ensure smooth and sufficient running of the pack and practicing various challenges Harlie had discovered during her time researching the Battle of the Alpha’s. To say she was exhausted, well that would be an understatement. At quarter to twelve at night, Brielle finally collapsed on her bed. Her eyes landed on the ceiling as she let out a heavy sigh. She had barely had time to think recently, but now the opportunity arose, she wasn’t sure she wanted too. Her mind wandered to what was to come, would the triplets really stick to their word and follow through? But it had been several days and she’s received no word, so she couldn’t help but consider if they’d had second thoughts. She hoped they had because this would mean she could put the whole thing behind her and forget they ever existed, despite Ocean’s consistent pleas to see them. Bri
It had been an intense year for the Alphas as they settled into their new roles. Merging the two packs had taken some serious work, it had taken a while for the natural rivalry between the two to die down and accept each other as one. Fortunately, the Blood Moon members immediately accepted Brielle as one of their own. Whether that was due to their own kindness or fear of being castrated by the triplets was unclear, but Brielle was grateful nevertheless. David had finally come to terms with his little girl being mated, not that he had been given much choice. Although, there had been a moment where Brielle feared David would be pushed over the edge when it came out Harlie was mated to the Blood Moon beta, Lucas. But just like the triplets, Lucas had managed to charm his way into David’s good graces, after Sophia threatened to have him sleeping on the couch if he didn’t give up his hostile persona. Harlie and Lucas were the perfect match, both incredibly loyal to one another and to
It had been an emotional morning for many as everyone shared their goodbyes. Brielle especially found leaving Amaris unexpectedly hard, so much had changed for her there and so many wonderful memories had been created, leaving was bittersweet. But as the saying goes; as one door closes, another door opens. Brielle and the triplets had been discussing over the last few days how to merge the packs, with as little disruption as possible. Luckily, as there wasn’t much distance between the two lands, a solution was found. Both Brielle and River had sent links to their pack members asking them to meet on common ground between the two, explaining they would be there shortly to make an announcement. River set his palm on Brielle’s thigh, whilst his other hand remained tight on the steering wheel. He noticed a disappointed expression written across her face, one that had him frowning. “What is it, Brie?” He wondered. Brielle turned to meet his gaze, before briefly shaking her head with a s
Brielle danced the night away, laughing and drinking with Harlie and Scarlett, not having a care in the world as since the day they first arrived at Amaris, they could finally relax. The girls secured their spot in the middle of the dance floor and moved like their life depended on it, spilling drinks as they joked with one another. Reid, to no surprise to Brielle, regularly joined in with their hysterics, twirling Brielle around and throwing her over his shoulder as he danced to the beat. River and Ryker made a few appearances by their side, but found themselves repeatedly being dragged away to discuss business with other Alpha’s. Many present were Alpha’s the triplets had already built contractual relationships with, so unfortunately they couldn’t be avoided. But Brielle didn’t mind, this was a celebration for Shadow. She would have plenty of time with the triplets as the night came to a close, the last few hours her sole focus was to have fun with Harlie and Scarlett. Brielle h
The next day, River and Brielle spent the morning fooling around in the sheets of their bed, neither being prepared to leave the loved-up cocoon they had engulfed themselves in. But finally, after what seemed to take every ounce of their inner strength, they managed to drag themselves out of bed and head back to Amaris in preparation of the celebratory ball being thrown in Brielle’s honour. Upon her return, and after squeezing in some time with Ryker and Reid, Brielle headed to her room to get ready for the evening with Harlie and Scarlett. “So.. how was it?!” Scarlett questioned as she wrapped her hair around the curling iron. “And do not spare any details, I'm living vicariously through you these days.” Brielle snorted, shaking her head at the gamma before setting down her lipstick and turning to meet two sets of eager eyes. She pressed her lips together, despite having just finished her makeup, and let a cheesy grin grow on her lips. "Do you remember when he told me I'd be begg
Brielle hurried to her room to gather her belongings, she wasn’t sure where she was going thanks to River’s vagueness but he had told her to grab some clothes for the morning, apparently they wouldn’t be returning tonight. The excitement was pumping through her, her hands racing through her wardrobe and grabbing the first thing she saw. He’d told her she was fine in what she was wearing, although she had decided to throw a pair of leggings on anyway. She didn’t quite fancy strolling through the castle in nothing but a tee again.“Come in,” Brielle called out as she heard a knock on her door. Harlie glided into the room with Scarlett following closely behind, before they both took a seat on Brielle’s unmade bed.Scarlett perched her brow as she watched Brielle throw random items into a bag. “And where do you think you’re going?” She teased.Brielle grinned, side eyeing her gamma. “River is taking me somewhere for the night, although I’m not sure where.” She tried to hide her excitement
Upon her return to Amaris, Brielle had spent the last day with her loved ones, cherishing the moments as much as she could. Scarlett and Reid had even managed to put their bickering to the side for the day, instead focusing on being grateful for Brielle’s safety. David and Sophia had returned to Shadow with their warriors earlier this afternoon, after displaying significant reluctance to ever leave Brielle’s side again. David only agreed to leave once he gave the triplets a stern talking to, reiterating that if his little girl so much as lost a single hair from her head moving forward, he’d cut off their prized possessions and feed them to Gladdis’ pythons. The triplets didn’t often feel threatened, but the look on David’s face told them he’d go to the ends of the world to follow through on his promise. The King and Queen had been absent most of the day, working with Gladdis on the appropriate punishment for Nimue. Under usual circumstances, she would fall under Gladdis’ jurisdicti
Leaving no time to spare, the moment the cloaking enchantment was broken, warriors in their wolf form dashed towards the dirty grey architecture. The charcoaled, grey building was clear as day to them now. It was hard to believe this three level building wasn’t visible to the eye merely moments ago. But the building wasn’t the only revelation following the breaking of the spell, dozens and dozens of rogues surrounded the scene staring back at the warriors in a dazed state. Under usual circumstances, the element of surprise would have always been a priority. But in this scenario, there wasn’t any choice. Seemingly, as the three groups continued to gain a closer advantage, the confused rogues swiftly began transitioning into their wolf counterparts. One by one, with no fear in the world, they charged towards the warriors. Where they lacked in strength and numbers, their feral state made up for. Death didn’t frighten them. King Nathaniel’s wolf, Roman, was the first the shed blood. Ch
“You’ll be split into three teams.” King Nathaniel announced to the sea of warriors before him. “We need to be able to remain in contact with each pack at all times, meaning the three packs need to be integrated. One will be led by myself, one will be led by the Blood Moon alpha’s and one will be led by David, Alpha Regent of Shadow.” David firmly nodded in the King’s direction, his game face never faltering as he folded his arms across his chest. Under usual circumstances, in Brielle’s absence, he would allow Harlie to step up as interim Alpha. But with his eldest’s life hanging in the balance, he couldn’t allow room for mistakes. “My group will take the west, River’s group will take east and David’s group will take south.” The King continued, surveying his eyes over the 300 hundred bodies. “Gladdis and the Fer Fung will be located north, in the neck of the forest. They will need to remove the cloaking enchantment placed on Zion’s hide out, but once this happens we have a matter of
Rivers grip on the steering wheel tightened as they drove through the Amaris gate. The uneasy feeling gathering in the pit of his stomach only worsened with each passing moment, further moments where Brielle was out of his grasp. They had come so close, so incredibly close to finally being together and just when he had her in his arms, she was snatched from beneath him. It was taking every ounce of his self-control to remain calm, although he was on the verge of snapping at any moment. Seven SUV’s filled with the best of Blood Moon’s warriors followed behind him and his brothers, each filled with angst and ready to eliminate the threat which stole their new alpha. They had never met Brielle, but she was one of them now. No one hurt one of their own. River forcefully yanked the handbrake as he parked outside the castle, not caring in the slightest that he wasn’t in a parking spot and instead had just pulled up anywhere. He couldn’t climb out of the vehicle quick enough, with his b
