Reed’s POV

“Why are you worried?” Caren asks me.

“I had to put up with a lifetime of abuse from David. The day he was to become Alpha, I knew my life would be over. Which was why I left. He would then have taken great pride in beating me to death. All because I was his brother.”

She looks at me. “You keep me grounded. Can you imagine what I would be like with some power-hungry man as my mate?” She smiles at me. “You are perfect for me.” She says, looking out of the window.

“Caren.” I say. She looks at me. “There is something else you ought to know. “The Luna of Blue Valley Pack. When it was her 18th birthday, I was mated with her. But she chose David over me. Because he was going to be Alpha and I was a nobody.”

Caren smirks. “Her loss was my gain.” She says, while leaning over and kissing me.
