The Altundral Princess
Chapter 6
Beven's point of view.
I can hear voices around me. I groan as I open my eyes, the sunlight streaming through the windows, I wake up to see my Mother and stepfather looking at me.
"Beven?"
I hear my stepfather calling out my name.
"Makkan?" I say,
He smiles as he answers me,
"Yes, it's me, son, how are you feeling?"
I frown. Lifting my hand to my shoulder. I feel nothing no pain. Nothing at all.
It's then I realise that King Halturian is also in the room, he stands up and looks at me as he says,
"Deliah Blue healed you."
I turn my head. Aware of someone holding my hand. Deliah. She's lay on a bed next to me. I quickly sit up, Calling her name.
"Deliah?"
I cry out her name. She lies still. Her small breaths the only telltale sign of life.
"What's happened to her. Is she okay? Oh god, please tell me she's okay."
Halturian places a hand on my shoulder as he says,
"She's used all her energy healing you."
I look up at the King.
"I'm Sorry King. Please tell me she's going to be okay."
He sighs as he says.
"She will be. She needs to rests and regains her strength."
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. This is all my fault."
I squeeze my beautiful princess hand. She has to be okay.
prince Davin, walks over to the bed he looks at me as he says
"Yeah, it is."
King Halturian shouts out.
"That's enough, Davin. No one blames you Beven; You've saved my baby's life, Twice. I am forever in your debt."
I look over at Deliah as I ask.
"Why didn't she let the healers help me?"
Halturian replies.
"There was no time. There was no way she was going to let you die Beven. It's was heartbreaking to watch her with you she fell apart when she thought she had lost you. It took everything she had for her to heal you. It's obvious she cares deeply for you. It's been obvious for a very long time Beven."
I raise my eyebrows in confusion as I ask
"What do you mean?"
"I frown as I look at my sleeping beauty."
My stepfather replies,
"Halturian and I came to a decision ten years ago."
"What decision?" I ask, confused.
Halturian sighs as he says,
"You were sixteen, and Deliah was ten, It was apparent my daughter was infatuated with you. You were a teenage boy. My daughter was just a child. It never bothered you that she followed you around, but I felt it wasn't fair to you. It would be best if you experienced things a normal teenager would. So I asked Makkan to keep you away from Deliah. I asked him to take over as chief of the guards rather than the Queen's personal bodyguard."
Makkan looks at me as he continues.
"We kept you two separate."
I raise my voice as I say,
"You had no right. Deliah was my friend."
King Halturian stands to his full height looking down at me as he says
"As a father, I had every right Beven. We did what we thought was best for both of you."
I shrug my shoulders as I say,
"Yeah, I guess. I understand where you were both coming from. I just wish you would have told me."
Queen Megan reaches out to take my hand as she says.
"We always knew you two would end up together. And you both have our blessing Beven. Deliah is no longer a child, and it's obvious she cares deeply for you.
Seven"
"Oh," I reply, not expecting the Queen to say what she just said.
I don't know what to say. I look at Queen Megan, as I say.
"I care for your daughter deeply. I want so much to be with her. I know she's younger than me and inexperienced, but I would never hurt her. I promise you both. To do things right. To date her. To go slowly. To move things at Deliah pace."
King Halturian smiles as he says,
"That's all we ask Beven. You're a good man we both know you'll look after our daughter."
I nod my head, still trying to process everything that's just happened.
Halturian turns to look at his daughter still seeping besides me as he says.
"Since you going to be in my daughter's life, there are things about her you need to know."
" You mean her power's?" I ask as the King nods his head before continuing
"Yes but also how to help her control them. This is something we will need to talk with Deliah about."
"Okay," I whisper
King Halturian turns to my stepfather as he says,
"Now the main thing we need to worry about is her security."
"Do we know who those men were?" I ask
Halturian shakes his head as he says.
"Not yet. But I have every leader looking into it. Deliah used her powers in front of a lot of people yesterday. I've tried to keep her powers secret, but that's no longer possible. Which means people could exploit Deliah for her powers. We have to keep her safe."
I look at Halturian as I say honestly.
"King Halturian I would die for her."
He laughs,
"I know Beven you've already proved that which is why I want you by her side. Where ever she goes, you go. If you care for her as much as you say you do, then I know you won't let anything happen to her."
Makkan looks at me as he says,
"I'll be bringing a team in to protect you both."
Halturian nods his head.
"Her two brothers will be on the team at least until we know who and why these people were on Altundral."
Halturian turns to me as he says,
"She's going to need someone protecting her for the rest of her life Beven; if you're not sure of this, you need to tell us now."
I smile,
"No, I'm in this for good."
The King chuckles as he says.
"Good, because I can't think of anyone I would trust more."
prince Davin looks annoyed as he says,
"Haha sure, like we can't protect her. That's our little sister your talking about."
Halturian turns to look at him as he says,
"I know you can, Son, you and Derriel have always taken care of her, but what happens when you find your own mate? have your own lives, your own children to take care of. Beven knows what I'm asking of him."
I look at the King and Queen as I say.
"I do King Halturian, and I will be by her side as long as she needs me."
I understand what the King is asking of me do I see Deliah as my mate. Fuck yeah. One kiss and I was done for I'm never letting her go.
King Halturian turns to take the Queen's hand before they walk out of the room he turns to back to me as he says
"Thank you. I have my answer. I'll leave you with Deliah; I'll get my staff to bring you some food. Get some rest Beven and let me know when she wakes up."
I watch in shock as everyone leaves the room, leaving me alone with my princess.
I curl up beside her, Stroking her beautiful white hair. And I whisper in her ear, for as long as my heart beats Deliah Blue, I'll never let anyone hurt you. I love you, Princess."
Authors note
Sorry if that chapter was a bit long-winded, I wanted to explain the connection these two had as children and why the King though it was necessary to split them up.
I hope it explains things a little
I promise we are about to go on a crazy ride from here on.
