Four months into living in Bedrock and I have friends, a job and a small but lovely apartment above Diablo's. My work and living situation mixed when Scarlett walked me home one night and she met Angel and they became fast friends too. The three of us hang out a lot either at Diablo's after Scarlett and I finish or going out and doing things around the city. In the past few months I keep running into AJ and in the last 3 encounters I started to think he was having me followed since I was with Angel and Scarlett but each time we were doing different activities. One was a bowling night on the other side of the city. One was a karaoke night where Angel drank far too much and the latest one was a roller blading day on a Saturday.
"Are you two ready for tomorrow?" Gary's question pulled me out of my head.
"Sure are Sir." Scarlett responded chirpy as ever.
He nodded and handed her a piece of paper. She was excited that we were hosting 4 local packs while Gary was away as he put her in charge.
"That's the number of where I'm staying call me if anything goes wrong or you need anything." He said. We both nodded
Our hotel was one of many in the city hosting packs this week as a meeting of all the packs from this side of the country were coming together. Due to us being the smallest holding packs we were getting the local packs which, unfortunately, included my old pack.
"OK last check before I leave. You have rooms blocked our for tomorrow. You will be organizing the meeting room for the first meeting tomorrow afternoon and you have the names and descriptions of all 4 alphas, betas and Lunas staying with us correct?" Gary still in a frazzled state went over his mental checklist again.
"Yes Gary we will be fine go and be with your family." I said with a smile trying my best to mimic Scarlett who giggled lightly.
He nodded sharply at us before heading to the door. He passed the night shift girl Anna on his way out and stopped to speak with her briefly.
"Are you coming home with me tonight? I'm sure Angel would be happy to see you?" I asked Scar as we turned to grab our bags.
"Not tonight I have to be home for a family thing but say hi to her for me." She said as we walked to the exit and stepped out into the light rain.
"OK you have fun with your family." I said knowing how close they were, Scar was a big oversharer.
She smiled and waved before turning and heading towards her place. I turned around in time to see AJ walking towards me with a big grin on his face. I had seen him so much in the past four months since our first meeting on the street, I've thought for awhile he must be following me. I forced a smile as my eye was drawn towards the man beside him. They were the same height, the new man had dark, almost black, hair with the same bright blue eyes but instead of a smile he was wearing a plain expression I couldn't read.
"Hey Kitty fancy running into you here!" Aj blurted out.
I just forced a smile and looked between the two men. The second remained silent and just looked me up and down slowly his expression unchanging.
"This silent brooding mass beside me is my brother Jamie." Aj broke the silence.
I looked at him wide eyed. How did I not see it? He looks just like their father. Before I could say anything another man appeared and stood next to Aj staring at me too.
"Hey guys. Who's this?" He asked as I looked between all three.
They could be triplets but I know that Aj and Jamie are twins so is this another brother I didn't know about?
"Aaron this is Kitty. She's pretty new to the city. Kitty this is our oldest brother Aaron." Aj said looking between us.
I knew the alpha forbid anyone to talk about his twin sons who left the pack but I had never heard of another son.
"Anyway we have things to discuss so if you'll excuse us." Jamie's deep smooth voice pulled me back to the situation in front of me.
I looked between the three one more time and realized that Jamie and Aaron looked so similar you would think they were the twins, and Aj looked more like Bruce.
I nodded stepping around them and heading for home.
"Nice to meet both of you." I said as cheerfully as possible.
All I want to do is get home and have a hot shower to get the thoughts of this family out of my head.
I got to Diablo's and decided to take the back entrance to the apartment, as much as I love Angel I just need to not be around people right now. I get upstairs and take off my shoes, my feet seemly thanking me. I sat on the edge of my bed thinking about hot water but unable to get up from being so tired. Normally I can do things for a few hours after work but the last few days I've been feeling super tired and nauseous.
Shaking off the feeling I get up to head to the shower when I hear a knock on the door. That's strange noone comes up here except Angel and she normally texts me first. I check my phone, nothing. There's another knock, louder and more aggressive this time. I slowly approached the door and curse silently that there's no peephole.
I opened the door slightly and gasped.
"Hi freak. We finally found you." Chris's angry drunk voice hit my ears before the door was pushed hard and fell backwards.
He and Lily walked into my apartment looking around in disgust. Lily scrunched up her face making her look uglier than normal.
"She's living here really? We should tell Alpha we didn't find her and let her rot." She sneered at me while talking to Chris.
I pulled myself up feeling weak and dizzy. As I stood Angel sprinted up the stairs and into the back of Chris and Lily. She took one look at me picking myself up and growled.
"Get out of my friends apartment!" She growled and moved between me and Chris standing in a defensive stance.
"Ha! Who the fuck are you? That's my pathetic little sister and as Beta I've been tasked to bring her home to face punishment for abandoning our pack." Chris spat at the both of us.
"She's not going anywhere. She's a free woman now. Get out of my apartment before I call the cops." Angels voice was low but full of anger and power.
Who is she. Chris weaved a bit at her demand but wrapped his hand around lily's arm and pulled her out of my apartment.
"This isn't over." He threatened before leaving down the stairs.
Angel stood still between me and the door until she was sure he was gone then she slammed the door and turned in time to see me crumble on to the floor.
"Hey hey. It's ok they're gone. Noones going to hurt you while you're here." She said softly dropping down next to me as I sobbed into my hands.
"How. How did you know I was in trouble?" I asked as I sniffed.
"I heard the door slam into the wall and smelt unfamiliar wolves. So I came up as soon as I could. I'm glad I did now. You're brothers a dick." She said with a smile.
I laughed at the and wiped my face. I shook my head and started to stand before Angel stood and offered her hand. I took it wondering if I was in the presence of an alpha without even knowing it. We headed downstairs with the promise of fries and a burger with no pickles.
My alarm woke me up suddenly. I sat up with a jolt rubbing my eyes. 6am was too early for me anytime but especially recently I've been feeling exhausted. Groaning I rolled out of bed and headed for a shower. After the warm shower I stood by the mirror and looked at the brusing from the interaction with my brother yesterday. Sighing I pulled on a long sleeve blouse. I headed out the door felling too sick for breakfast and walked to work."Hey you! Are you ready for today?" Scarlett said too cheerful for this early in the morning.I smiled and nodded stepping past her and dropping my handbag. I re-emerged and stood beside her to check up in the rooms for the Alphas and their guests. I saw the cleaners had completed 7 out of the 10 rooms and headed up to help finish the last 3.Midway up the staircase I started seeing spots and began breathing heavy. "Get up now" I woke startled at the loud voice of my father through my door. "If you are late again you will be punished!" He yelled before his footsteps faded down the hall.I sighed sitting up. My tiny closet sized room was getting even smaller now I was growing. Being a 15 year old living like a slave was beyond horrible, my whole family and the pack hated me. I was born wolfless, my mother was blamed by my father and she blamed me, everyone blamed me. I stood off my mattress on the floor and grabbed the light grey jeans and a black hoodie sliding them on before exiting my room. I walked downstairs and straight into the kitchen. I had to make breakfast for everyone, clean the dishes and wait until the house was empty before eating anything left over, but with 3 brothers that was never much. After everyone was done eating and ridiculing me like normal. I washed the dishes ate the left over bacon and the three slices of toast left before grabbing my school
Standing in the graveyard a single tear rolled down my cheek. I miss her so much. My parents moved out of their rental and into her house so this is the only spot I have left. 3 days after she died I turned 16 and my birthday present was my father telling me I was no longer part of their family and threw me out of the house. I had managed to hide the money so I walked the hour and a half away to the human side of our territory. I found a long term stay place and met the nice owner the night I walked in. I stood frozen for a minute thinking about how he looked similar but different to Bruce. My first red flag should have been the extremely dirty clerk who asked if I was renting by the hour, over night or weekly. When I said weekly he had looked me up and down making me feel like prey.
