Thank you for reading
Ariana The moment the murdered man in my dream had a face, I didn't know what to do. My heart couldn't take it. It was a vision… I was sure now. But the fact that I saw someone I loved die before my eyes would haunt me forever. I stepped away from Lewis, not wanting him close. I was right after all. All I did was bring bad luck to the people I loved. I'm sure Lewis's future would have been different if he hadn't met me. He wouldn't have to have his heart brutally ripped out of his chest. But because he was cursed with a mate like me, his life was cut short. Telling him I need to be alone, I rushed into the woods to clear my mind and think about my next course of action. What can I do to protect him? The thing is, I don't even know who the attacker is. His face wasn't shown in my vision. I groaned in frustration. I hated how I had all these powers and I couldn't use them at will. They just showed up when they wanted. 'You can.' my mind egged me on. Wait a minute… maybe I can. I
Ae-cha/Lora “This is suicide.” Alistair said as he stood in front of me, trying to stop me from proceeding. “Then you can leave. But I'll protect my niece. There’s something really wrong with my father. If he’s not stopped do you think anyone would stay alive for long in the pack?” I said curtly, walking around him and proceeding forward. My father’s tyranny had been going on for far too long. I wasn’t able to do anything when I was young because I wanted a father’s love but now I can see him for who he is. A monster. Memories of the past came crashing down on my mind like an avalanche. ~Flashback twenty-one years ago~ “We are leaving Ae-Cha. Father has gone crazy since mother’s prediction. He wants me to start training my daughter in sorcery. She’s only 6. I can’t… I can’t let her get involved in black magic at such a young age.” My heart ached as I watched my sister panic knowing I was here on my father’s orders. He told me to use magic to capture my sister’s daughter Ariana…
Lewis I don't know how Ariana had a wolf when she was a hybrid but I guess the Goddess decided to bless her with one. Not that I minded. It was a plus. Wesley could now stop being grumpy and go for runs with Ariana’s beautiful wolf, Jade. When she shifted, I was in awe. She was big, an Alpha wolf. Wesley kept clawing in my mind to be let out but what I didn’t expect was for him to go straight for the kill. They had just met and he already mounted and mated with her for several hours. It took my all to force myself back and gain back control. ‘That’s how it’s done.’ He said and I rolled my eyes internally. He was referring to how I had delayed in claiming Ariana but I wasn’t complaining. She was worth the wait and the effort. “How about I make us some… coffee?” I wanted to say food but I remembered I can only make chicken wraps properly and we had eaten that on our picnic. “Then we can order pizza for dinner?” “Um… just coffee is fine. I’m not that hungry.” Ariana said quietly
Ariana ‘I don’t think you should do that.’ Jade argued in my head, almost growling at me but I had made up my mind. ‘I have no choice. If I stay with him he will die. Would you rather have your mate dead or leave to keep him safe?’ I asked her, eliciting a growl from her and I swear, I saw her curl into a ball in my mind. Refusing to speak to me. After thinking about what I could do to prevent my vision from becoming true, my heart dropped to my feet when I found nothing. There was nothing I could do. The only option was for me to leave. Going away from here and never coming back. Who knows if being with me is what would kill him?? I was quiet the time we were watching the TV show. It was very hard to find the right timing to tell him about my decision. He kept asking what was wrong, the words were just on the tip of my tongue but I cowered. I was scared of hurting him. But in the end, I reminded myself that emotional pain was better than having him gone from this world. Bracin
I tightened my arms around Ariana, holding her close. Afraid that if I loosened my arms even for a split second, she might disappear. We were lying down on the rug in the sitting room, butt naked with our legs entangled with each other. After that intense love-making, we were too tired to move. Well, I wasn’t but Ariana whined and refused to move. She was exhausted and I had felt guilty for being so rough when she had just had her first shift. When she said she wanted to break up, I was quiet for a few minutes. My eyes stung. I could feel my heart squeezing painfully... It felt like someone was piercing a needle through it, one at a time. Wesley howled in my mind, feeling upset but I calmed him down. Our mate was just scared, scared for us. Understanding why she made that decision, I didn’t get upset with her. But I was angry with the goddess. If she loved her children, why would she give them gifts that would cause them pain and call it a blessing? Frustrated and sad, I pounded
Ariana Looking at the familiar frame in the photo my heart pounded, sounding like a galloping horse. It was filled with fear. What did this message mean? Lewis must have heard the spike in my heart rate because he looked up from the map he was so engrossed in, scrutinizing me worriedly. "You ok baby?" But I didn't respond. My lips quivered as my eyes dipped to the note and photos in my hand. I didn't know what to make of them. Was my mother still alive? Grabbing the stuff in my hand, I heard Lewis curse. "Fuck. I swear I'm going to rip that bastard to shreds." "What do you think this means? That's a picture of my mother." My voice shook in fright. "Mmmmm baby we need to be careful. They are just trying to lure you into a trap." "But what if she's my mother?" I screamed out just as the flood gates opened and tears began to flow down my face. How I wish it was true. That she was alive and just waiting somewhere for me to rescue her. Lewis put the note and letter down, he move
Lewis “Baby…” I turned briefly to look at Ariana who was seated in the passenger’s seat, refusing to talk to me. Intense guilt was rolling off of her in waves and I didn’t know how to assure her that I was ok. We were heading west of the dark forest, where the coven for witches was located. Ariana seemed not able to control the energy in her body which causes her to have intense outbursts when angry. I called James who directed me to his mother-in-law, Cordelia. A witch who was recently accepted back into the coven. She advised me to take Ariana to the coven so that they could help her control her magic. “I told you I’m ok. You couldn’t control it… cheer up, mmmm?” I said to her, squeezing her hand that I was holding while I steered the car with the other. “No… I could have killed you Lewis.” She whispered in a low voice, her head hanging low, averting my gaze. “At that moment I really felt like an evil person. I had all these evil thoughts in my mind and I wanted to kill some
Ariana I sighed contentedly, scooting closer to Lewis and laying my head on his chest. Right here.. In his arms, I felt complete. His divine scent teased my nostrils and I couldn’t help but take a big whiff. He smelled so good. My hands traced the muscles on his chest, feeling their firmness as sparks erupted between our skins. I was blessed with a god, that’s for sure. We had just finished the fifth round of making love and decided to sleep in readiness for our journey tomorrow. After much coaxing from Lewis, I finally moved on from the stunt I pulled last night. I was ashamed of myself for not having control. The darkness I felt within me when I thought about my parent’s death was scary. There seemed to be something… a small voice other than my wolf, telling me to find those men and tear their flesh apart. It frightened me and I thought I was turning evil. Jade had stopped talking to me after that outburst, saying she was upset with me for hurting our mate. She was afraid he w
Hi lovely readers. For those that have read this book till the end, thank you so much. I appreciate your support. For those still reading it, I would like to notify you that I'll be merging this book with book one, The Alpha's Rejection. You can still continue reading the book by checking the chapter title you left it at. And if you do happen to read the Alpha's Rejection when you've already read this one, do not read past chapter 50 because that would be the beginning of the Beta's Turmoil. Thank you so much for reading my work. I hope I keep bringing out content that would be worth your time. With love, Natie.
THREE YEARS LATER Lewis It was funny how time flies. One minute you’re a child and the next, you’re an adult who’s responsible for yourself and other people. In my case, I was a mate, a beta and a brother and a soon-to-be father. That’s right, Ariana and I had our wedding 4 months ago and now she was carrying our pup. A boy. She was the most beautiful bride I had ever seen and on that day, when she said I do, it was one of the best days of my life that I’ll cherish forever. The last three years have been nothing but blissful. Life was great. We would have problems here and there but nothing that was not solvable. After all, this is real life and not everything can be perfect. Alpha James and Zoe left on a honeymoon tour a month ago and left their pups in our care. They were living with us at our mini-mansion that I built for Ariana and I and boy, they were a handful. We had a nanny for all four of them. Matteo, Alpha James’ baby brother thought he was his brother’s son
Ariana I’ve been living in the blackmist pack for three months now and I can attest that it’s much better than the human town. I liked it here. At first, when I learnt that werewolves exist I thought they would be primitive and living like cavemen but they surprised me by being more modern than ordinary humans. The pack was designed like a small town. It had shopping malls, residential homes and a large packhouse where the majority of the wolves stayed. Mostly unmated ones stayed there. Despite the modern setup, the flora and fauna were not tampered with. We were still surrounded by a big forest. On full moon nights, we would go for pack runs which were led by the Alpha and Luna. And then most times, I would go on a love run with Lewis, my mate who had been nothing but lovely ever since I settled here. The only thing I missed from the human town was my aunt Judy. “Can you get me another dress? Where’s the red one I chose earlier? I look good in red.” Zoe asked one of the o
Lewis I ditched the car and ran to the orphanage since it would be faster that way. The Alpha had already begun running back to the pack after I called him to tell him his Luna had gone into labor. Taking off my clothes, I shifted and carried them in my mouth then I began to run as fast as I could. From the way Ariana kept poking into my mind every second, I knew she was freaking out. ‘Dr. Anthony prepare the Luna’s VIP ward she’s in labor.’ I mind-linked the doctor at the pack’s hospital. ‘What? That’s too soon. I’ll work on it right away.’ I continued to rush forward with Wesley in the lead. Being a beta wolf, he wanted to protect his Alpha’s pups. ‘Lewis! Hurry! I can see a head… oh my God! I don’t know what to do!’ Ariana’s shriek echoed in my head. ‘Calm down baby… You will scare Zoe. Take a few deep breaths and guide her… tell her to push as hard as she can. If the baby stays like that it will suffocate.’ ‘But I’ve never done this before.’ She responded, sounding sc
Lewis I felt like I was in paradise. At the break of dawn, I opened my eyes and found Ariana sleeping peacefully in my arms with a smile on her face. We were happy. And I hoped it remained so for the rest of our lives. I stroked her curly hair and leaned down, placing a kiss on her forehead. Ariana stirred, scrunching her eyebrows then inched closer to me, burying her face deeper into my chest. Having her back made me whole once again. I wouldn’t have survived without her and to think she had watched me die and had to experience the agony of the bond breaking filled me with intense guilt. That was not something I wanted her to go through. Ever. She had even gone as far as stabbing her heart to perform a dangerous spell to save me. That was the extent of her love for me. I could see it. I could feel it. A love so pure and true. What more can I ask for? I loved her just as much as she loved me and with each passing day that we are together, our bond grows stronger. All
Ariana I stared into Lewis’ eyes to check if he was telling the truth. Not that I didn’t believe him. It’s just that with our current situation, even I could come up with any reason that could help us be able to be together. He had just told me about how my mother and his father were childhood friends and that day, he was actually going to save her due to her call for help but unfortunately, he arrived late. “I have proof, baby… I can’t lie to you. You know that.” Lewis said with a pained expression. I cupped his face with my palms and pecked his lips. “I believe you. Even if you made something up I would always believe you.” I said and I meant it. “But I didn’t make it up my love. My father has recordings that you can listen to. I have them on my phone.” He said and took out his phone before I could stop him. We were seated on a two-seater couch in the small sitting room in the cabin after two more rounds of banging each other. I listened to the recording and when I heard
Lewis “Alpha, I’m leaving. I’ll only come back when I find my mate.” Alpha James raised his brow. “Are you sure? You’re going on a wild goose chase man. She could be anywhere.” Anger surged within me and I growled. “Are you saying I should give up on my mate? No way man… she’s mine and I’ll find her.” “How? By running around aimlessly like a headless chicken? Do you even have a clue where she is? If she doesn’t want to be found, do you think you can find her that easily?” I curled my hand, clenching it into a fist. He was right. I couldn’t just go searching without having a clue about Ariana’s whereabouts but what other choice do I have? Wait for her to calm down and come back on her own? What if she never comes back? What then? Being without her would kill me and my wolf. “I have to find her.” I said in a low voice, sounding defeated. “Come on man. We are wolves. We work smart, not harder. What’s the fastest way of finding someone in our supernatural world without using
Ariana I steeled my heart and chanted the teleporting spell while avoiding making eye contact with Lewis. I just couldn’t bring myself to look into his eyes. If I did, I was afraid I would decide to stay with him. But that was out of the question. Not after what I had found out. I had to leave for my parent's sake. I wouldn’t be able to face them knowing I had stayed with the people who took their life. Lewis just stood there, staring at me. And from my peripheral vision, I could see he was crying. My chest constricted seeing him like that. It hurt more that I had to leave him this way. I was punishing him for his father’s mistakes. It didn’t take long for the spell to take effect. As I was slowly getting sucked in, I snuck a look at Lewis. I wanted to see his enchanting face for one last time. I wanted to have it embedded in my mind forever. But the look of despair on his face crushed my heart. Now I would be stuck with his sad expression for the rest of my life. I shouldn’
Lewis I don’t know how long I had been staring at the spot where Ariana had vanished. My heart just couldn’t accept the fact that she was gone. She had left and this time I’m afraid, it’s forever. With the bad blood between us, there’s no way we could be together. For most of my life, I had never regretted any choices I made. Bad or good. Because I believed if you’re hesitant about something, you would still end up regretting whatever decision you make in the end. You would always ask yourself. What if? Could things have been different? I never wanted this type of uncertainty in my life so I was always decisive. But now, looking back, I deeply regretted bringing my mate to the pack. Perhaps I should have stayed with Ariana in the human town. I would be a CEO and she would do the work she loved. We would go back home together after a busy day at work, cook together, make love and do the same the next day just like normal people do. Most times people take advantage of thi
