Looking at the familiar frame in the photo my heart pounded, sounding like a galloping horse. It was filled with fear. What did this message mean?

Lewis must have heard the spike in my heart rate because he looked up from the map he was so engrossed in, scrutinizing me worriedly. "You ok baby?"

But I didn't respond. My lips quivered as my eyes dipped to the note and photos in my hand. I didn't know what to make of them. Was my mother still alive?
