Lisa's POV
Jonas nudged me. "Looks like he stepped back outside. Maybe something threw him off."
I swallow. Good news. Right? Well, yes. It was good news. I still kept my head on Jonas' lap.
His thumb massaged my head. "You still miss him a lot, don't you?"
I sighed. You want me to say no, but I can't do that. I would only be lying to myself. " I pulled my hand away from his, feeling uncomfortable about the whole situation.
I knew my instincts wouldn't lie to me. Jonas. Lisa." I instantly recognized that voice.
"Brandon, I can't say I'm happy to see you," Jonas muttered, trying to put on a brave face.
I raise my head to look at Kayden's best friend.
"Kayden is worried sick about you, Lisa. He thinks you're dead and the letter only made it worse on him. Whose idea was it?"
I turn to look at Jonas. I had no idea about any letter. What did he write?
"That's what he's su
KLAUS' POV I slip my aviators on as I step out of the car. It didn't belong to me, so I had to fly from West Virginia to Tennessee. Driving would have taken up a whole lot of time and slowed me down, but I would have preferred to drive one of my sports cars. The handling was way better than whatever the thing I drove up this mountain was called. One of the councilmen's men approached me while I surveyed the scene of cars parked along the mountain road. The cliff where the car was said to have driven up was barricaded. What a mess Jonas had made. The man bowed as he stopped in front of me. The letter B. I smooth down the shoulder of my blazer, not willing to look at him. Has Prime Alpha been here? "Yes, Beta. But he left with Mr. Brandon less than
JONAS' POVI buried my face in my hands, not feeling in the mood for this. Going into this club at Brandon's request required me to muster enough strength, and I had none with me at this present moment.Come on, Kayden. You agreed to join me. Deep down, you know you need a drink to clear your head. "I peek out from between my fingers at the cement block in front of us and at the long line of people dressed colorfully, waiting to be granted entry into the building. I turned to look at Brandon, slowly removing my hand from my face. This is a horrible idea. Couldn't you have picked a better place? "Do I need to remind you that you're the Prime Alpha? You can easily waltz into wherever you please, wielding more power over everyone in that place that nigh
Kayden's POVThe moaning from the couple grew louder. My outburst wasn't enough to distract them. Needing another drink, I headed out of the hallway, leaving them to continue their business without any further disturbance. The scene on the dance floor had totally changed. The music had stopped playing, and the bodies on the dance floor had parted into groups of two to leave Brandon and another large man alone in the center, invading each other's personal space, clashing heads and trying to intimidate the other person. Both their hands were balled into fists.I made my way towards them and tried to intervene. "What's going on here?"The man, who was both taller and larger than Brandon and I, which was no mean
Lisa's POVThe council can't kill me. I probably won't even be tortured. The odds aren't in your favor for you not to betray me when they break down your spirit. Kayden won't even be able to save you even if he doesn't know everything that needs to be done. Some powers supersede those of the Prime Alpha. If you go back to the council, you will die. You're too much of a risk to give out sensitive information to. "What he says makes sense. There was only so much he and Kayden could do to protect me from their family. Eventually, they would have to concede defeat if it came down to it. Besides, I'm just the girl who's supposed to be dead. After about a mile on the road, I try a different style of conversation. What about breakfast? We haven't eaten anything in a day. "
Kayden's POVI settled down under the covers of another bed in another hotel after another long day and closed my eyes, trying to catch some sleep. My phone rings and I force my eyes open. A soft white glow lights up the area surrounding my phone on the nightstand.Brandon groaned, and I heard his bed squeak. Using the light emanating from the phone, I can take him out by placing a pillow above his head, trying to block out the ring tone of my phone.I grabbed my phone off the nightstand and looked at the caller ID, Tiffany. I wondered why she was calling me at such an odd hour. I slide my phone over the screen and press the phone to my ear.
Lisa's POVI was being chased through a thick forest by several wolves. The farther I ran, the more escape seemed to elude me. I struck my leg against the foot of a tree, and I found myself falling into an abyss. My eyes and I try gasping for air but my mouth is held shut. I meet Klaus' cold blue eyes and I freeze instantly. His hand is covering my nose and mouth, preventing me from making a sound. I try to turn towards Jonas, but he holds my head in place. With his other hand, he placed his finger on his lips. I nodded as best as I could. His hand moved slowly as he reached towards his ankle. My time was about to be over. I was on borrowed time right from the start. It had never
Lisa's POVJonas had been driving for nearly twelve hours non-stop. I had no idea where we were now. I tried to recall from the signboard we had passed thirty minutes ago. Nevada, was it? We kept passing through states in a blur, and soon we would be out of states to drive through. What would be next then? Fleeing the country and seeking refuge elsewhere? I doubted if we could make it out of the country without more travel. The might outside mirrored my feelings. cold, empty, and depressed.I suggested to Jonas that we disguise ourselves in some way to draw less attention, but he rebuffed the idea. We were not being chased by rebels or unfamiliar people; the Council would still recognize us no matter what we did, he said. He used how Klaus found us as an example. He said I needed to close my mouth and let him think. I was tired of it all. I was tired of him saying I was stupid and weak.Klaus's words to Jonas kept on replaying in m
LISA'S POVOne of the men stepped forward and tapped his gun against Jonas' window, making me jump in fright. He motioned for Jonas to step out of the car and he obliged, holding his hands up."You too, join him." The man who tapped on Jonas' window said to me.I nodded and exited the car, holding my hands up. A man steps forward and pressed his gun into my back."You look oddly familiar. Aren't you Jonas Blackwater?" The third man who had maintained his distance stepped forward towards us and began to search Jonas for weapons, I was also searched as well."Why are you bothered about that?" Jonas said. He had always been a smooth talker."You're the Delta of the country, isn't it?""I was, things have changed.""Some of our group members spotted you when you stopped at a gas station at the border of our territory. We've been trailing you ever since.""What do you mean your
