Lisa's POV
I was being chased through a thick forest by several wolves. The farther I ran, the more escape seemed to elude me. I struck my leg against the foot of a tree, and I found myself falling into an abyss.
My eyes and I try gasping for air but my mouth is held shut. I meet Klaus' cold blue eyes and I freeze instantly. His hand is covering my nose and mouth, preventing me from making a sound. I try to turn towards Jonas, but he holds my head in place. With his other hand, he placed his finger on his lips. I nodded as best as I could.
His hand moved slowly as he reached towards his ankle. My time was about to be over. I was on borrowed time right from the start. It had never
Lisa's POVJonas had been driving for nearly twelve hours non-stop. I had no idea where we were now. I tried to recall from the signboard we had passed thirty minutes ago. Nevada, was it? We kept passing through states in a blur, and soon we would be out of states to drive through. What would be next then? Fleeing the country and seeking refuge elsewhere? I doubted if we could make it out of the country without more travel. The might outside mirrored my feelings. cold, empty, and depressed.I suggested to Jonas that we disguise ourselves in some way to draw less attention, but he rebuffed the idea. We were not being chased by rebels or unfamiliar people; the Council would still recognize us no matter what we did, he said. He used how Klaus found us as an example. He said I needed to close my mouth and let him think. I was tired of it all. I was tired of him saying I was stupid and weak.Klaus's words to Jonas kept on replaying in m
LISA'S POVOne of the men stepped forward and tapped his gun against Jonas' window, making me jump in fright. He motioned for Jonas to step out of the car and he obliged, holding his hands up."You too, join him." The man who tapped on Jonas' window said to me.I nodded and exited the car, holding my hands up. A man steps forward and pressed his gun into my back."You look oddly familiar. Aren't you Jonas Blackwater?" The third man who had maintained his distance stepped forward towards us and began to search Jonas for weapons, I was also searched as well."Why are you bothered about that?" Jonas said. He had always been a smooth talker."You're the Delta of the country, isn't it?""I was, things have changed.""Some of our group members spotted you when you stopped at a gas station at the border of our territory. We've been trailing you ever since.""What do you mean your
Kayden's POVMorrison handed the key over to me."Thank you for coming out here. You don't know how much I appreciate this."He bowed. "I do as my Prime Alpha wishes."I squinted my eyes as I observed the old council house. Wyoming was a beautiful place, but the estate here has grown too small to occupy our growing numbers. I unlocked the gate and Brandon and Morrison passed me, entering inside. Before Stefan could make his way past the gate, I grabbed his arm and pulled him back to face me."Yes, Prime Alpha?" He looked at me warily.I punched him square in the jaw, his neck turning sharply to the right from the impact. "That's for speaking so ill of Lisa. Next time you decide to go on a drunken adventure in the maze, make sure to stay off your phone."He didn't grab his face out of pride, but I could see him resisting the urge to rub his jaw. His cheek turned red as he glared at me. Fo
Lisa's POVThe sun was shining brightly in the sky when I walked into the kitchen and slid a piece of strawberry syrup-covered French toast from the kitchen table into my mouth. I drew out a chair and settled down to dig into my breakfast when Jonas walked in the door. What about Lisa?"Yes?" I wipe the powdered sugar off the side of my mouth with a napkin."Can I talk to you outside for a bit?" He asked.I gazed down regretfully at my breakfast, which I had barely eaten, and pushed back my chair. "Yeah, I'll be right outside in a moment." Walking out, I noticed I had a drop of strawberry syrup on the tank top I borrowed from Lilo. "Dang it."Jonas looked over his shoulder. "What's wrong?"I rub at the spot, trying to get rid of the stain. "It's no big deal; I just made a mess."He stopped at the pond. "Your uncle talked to me and managed to scare me, so I talked to your aunt Olivia, and she said
Lisa's POVI know I had told him beforehand that this wasn't a date, but yet the drive felt awkward. I should be used to driving with him after the long hours we've spent inside of a car together. The drive was usually filled with silence, very much like this one, but tonight there was tension in the air and I needed to break it.
LISA'S POV"You don't mean that.""I do.""Take that back."
LISA'S POVI'm burning...I could feel my body heating up rapidly, but I don't know where it originated from. I'm not sure where it begins or where it ends; was it my neck? My wrist? My lower abdomen? I couldn't manage to figure it out. All I knew was that it was there and it was growing hotter by the second, becoming more and more prominent. I tried pushing myself up, but my muscles refused to heed the command my brain was trying to pass through. I fell back onto my back. My eyes had refused to open or were they open and I was surrounded by total darkness? There was no Jonas or Kayden to rescue me this time. I was all alone in this.I wanted to writhe in pain. It was the only normal reaction to perform given my present condition, but I couldn't even bring myself to do that. I tried to look at my arms, but in the dark it was futile. I don't even know where my arms were in this darkness. I felt hot. I was
Lisa's POVI hear my name being called over and over again, pulling me close like a moth to a flame. Struggling to open my eyes, I eventually end up finding enough muscles to pry my eyelids apart. As soon as I finally managed to do that, it was like a switch was flicked on in my head and my entire body started waking up, each part after the other. And as I see him standing next to me, my clouded mind starts to clear up. He held my hand tightly, staring at me in disbelief.I had yet to regain full control of my body, but I was quite certain that if I did, my face would mirror the expression on his. I remember telling him that I forgave him for what happened and that I didn't hold it against him. There was no way I could be mad at him for what happened
