Lisa's POV

"How's my son doing?"

"The same. He hasn't woken up yet; the doctor said he'll wake up when he decides to. "

She sits down in the seat next to mine. "Thank you for all you're doing for him. My son is really lucky to have you in his life. "

I snort. "I don't know if that's true. I still feel all of this is my fault. I just can't help but think so," I scoffed in front of Mrs. Blackwater. The realization made me cringe with embarrassment.

"You're being too hard on yourself. Even if it is your fault that all these things happened, you can live your life blaming yourself. You have to move on. "

I nod. She knew the right things to say. I could only hope that Kayden's guilt would wash away when he awoke.

"I know about the rebels you grew up with, and I know you still feel a sense of belonging to them."

I turned my head away from Kayden to look at her. "That means you know abou
