Her face softens as her eyes fill with tears again. "I don't think---" she wipes her eyes with the back of her hand. "This is all my fault. If only I had gotten here quicker. If I had thrown caution to the wind and run all the way here, he wouldn't be lying here half-dead. " Her face hardens again as she tries to rein in the tears threatening to fall.
