Kayden's POV
"I have a terrible headache." I groan, grasping my head in my hands and staring at the white wall across from me. This bed I'm lying on is propped up. There were needles connected to tubes on my skin. Where am I?
Lisa's face enters my line of vision. "You've finally woken up."
"I feel like I got hit by a moving train."
Her face beams as her smile w. I don't think I've ever seen her this joyous --- this relieved. It was like a load had been lifted off her shoulders. "I thought I was going to lose you forever."
The door is thrown wide open and my mother rushes in with Br
KLAUS' POVI push aside the white drape and step into the VIP dining section of the restaurant. Our restaurant, Tiffany and I, Tables and chairs were covered in white sheets with floral patterns. Chairs were bent towards the table. I walked around them, heading to the table at the back, which was already set up. The ivory restaurant is closed for the day already. I made sure to inform the owners of his place that I needed absolute privacy. I sit on one of the two chairs and wait for her to arrive. I have no idea if she'll show. Maybe she hadn't gotten the letter, or maybe she might not care anymore.During the whole drive here, I wondered what I would say to her if she eventually came. Nothing I thought of seemed to be the right thing to say. Even when I thought about being hostile to her, it didn't seem right either. But, even after she betrayed me and broke my heart, why did becoming mad at me seem like the wrong thing to do? What she did crush me. I
Lisa's POV I've lost count of the number of times Kayden has asked me if his tie is in the right position. The driveway where the bombs went off has been reconstructed, but it still serves as a reminder of Jonas and Arielle, who died. Both of us were waiting for Brandon's car to arrive at the estate. "Are you sure my tie is alright? I feel it is kind of weird." He asks me for the umpteenth time. "For the last time, Kayden, yes," I say, groaning. He reaches for his tie and I swat his hand away. "What if she's not a good food fit for Brandon? I don't want what happened to Klaus to happen to someone else I care about. " "You don't have to bother yourself about that. I'm sure she would be perfect. " "How are you sure about that?" I looked at him sheepishly. "I was only trying to make you feel better and make a case for the lady who I haven't met yet. You weren't supposed to ask me questions about it. "
Lisa's POVI rock the baby back and forth in my arms, singing lullabies to her. It has been nearly a week since Frances and Brandon have been staying at the estate. Their wedding is in a couple of days. With Frances being pregnant, they had to quicken the marriage preparations. I sink to the edge of the bed, watching her eyes close. She was crying when I first got here, and I've managed to calm her down. Dom was in the bathroom, cleaning it up before he left for the Senate meeting, scheduled to start in half an hour. I smiled down at her. I couldn't help but wonder how someone who had made a part of my life a nightmare could have something so precious and innocent. The front door opened and I froze where I sat, unable to move."Dominic, I wanted to go over a few things with you before the meeting starts." Kayden freezes as he sees me holding a baby.I stood up. Kayden, take it easy. Don't freak out; I can explain everything. "
Lisa's POV"When I was attacked by the intruder in my bedroom, My mark burned when he touched me. It wasn't a rebel then, and you said it wasn't you, and I believed you then because you had no reason to lie to me. But after hearing you say this, I don't know what to believe anymore."Lisa, there's no way I'll ever harm you.""Was it Klaus then?""He hated you then, but it wasn't him.""Do you know who it was?""I have my suspicions about who might have carried out the attack."I ran my hands over my face to wipe my wet face. "Who do you have in mind?""The thing there is that there are many possibilities and several people who hate you."I step towards him and stare him straight in the eyes. "I know you have someone who's more guilty than the others."He nods. "I do.""Tell me who it is.""I will, but I want to let you know that there's no way I could have removed them
LISA'S POVTonight's party is an informal affair. The reason given to the guests is that the affair can be a homely affair and an opportunity to eat and drink with the newlyweds, it's their last night at the Council before they would be heading to Asia for their honeymoon. Kayden and I both know that the reason he made the party informal is so that I can be near him throughout the night at his side. One last time before I leave forever. I don't protest against the arrangement as I don't want to take anything away from Franc’s and Brandon's celebratory dinner. Deep down, I admit that I am glad the party is set up like this, I wanted to sit with the Order for one last time. Tonight's my last chance to annoy Colton. To see everyone share jokes and laughter. To act as if Kayden didn't crush my heart. I'm hoping France would be a chance to start all over again. I'm sure I can do that.I'm used to being by myself which is a good thing. Bu
Lisa's POVI walk into Klaus' room after taking care of the nasty gash on my head. Dom, Luke, and Genevieve are already here, alongside Klaus. It can't be. "Is this everyone left?" I ask.Klaus nods at me.Well, fuck. We're screwed. My team consists of Dom, who's the most despicable person I've ever known, and Genevieve, who has never seemed to like me for reasons best known to her, and Luke, who I just recently found out from Kayden was the one who tried to murder me in my sleep, and lastly, Klaus, who has tried several times in the past to make sure I was dead.I run my hands through my hair, hoping the four of them don't conspire to kill me eventually. "Any news from the guards chasing the rebels?"Dom clears his throat. They were able to radio us that they had lost them. The rebels were meticulous with this plan; everything went perfectly.I close my eyes, feeling like I've been hit
Lisa's POVWe walk into the lobby and Klaus heads towards the receptionist’s desk. Looking around, I couldn't help but feel frightened. What if the rebels surround us again? Luke and Genevieve mumble an excuse and head into the dining room for breakfast. I don't bother telling them it's reserved for guests only; they know and they don't care. I find a seat and wait for Klaus to return. Dom has remained silent. He is constantly on his phone texting Brandon, who's looking after his daughter.Klaus walks over. "Teddy isn't here. His real name is Teddy. But, I got his address. Where are my sister and Luke? We need to leave now. ""The dining room," I answer my stomach grumbling at the mention of food.Putting his phone into his suit jacket, he walks towards the dining room. Dom and I follow behind him."How's the gash on your head?" Klaus asks me."I didn't think you cared about me.""
Lisa's POVTen minutes later, I hear the door open and they all walk out of the room. Teddy isn't with them. Klaus walks up towards me and pulls me out of the pews. "Come on."I planted my feet on the ground, stopping him from pulling me further."Did you find out where the base is?" I ask.Klaus nods in the affirmative, and I break free from his grip and enter the side room. Teddy lies crumpled to the ground in a pool of blood. When I place my finger on his neck, he is still alive. I dropped to my knees and shook his shoulder. He didn't move."What are you doing?" he asks, leaning against the doorway."I'm trying to see if I can get him help," I answer as I search his pocket for a cellphone."He didn't offer you any when you asked about the rebel base. Did he? " His tone is bitter."It's hard to blame him when you know you would have done the same in his shoes. I retort, typing a
