Devlin's POV

With my hands in his and my heart thumping against my chest. Philip leads me to the door. He looked over his shoulder at me before he knocked.

I am reminded once again that between us, a romance of any sort can never take place.

His eyes swam in my own for a few seconds, deep green eyes staring at me as if wanting to bestow on me the confidence that was implanted in them.

I shook my head.

I was receiving anything but confidence.

My eyes quickly found the walls of the house. They were made of wood, the windows were rather small and they were the only things that were made of glass I could see.

The weeds from the lawn had somehow overgrown into the terrace of the house which makes me wonder why the hell she didn't trim the damn thing.
