Chapter 201

Devlin's POV

My heart was beating so fast against my chest when I blurted out those words.

There was a calm silence between us. The only thing I could hear was the noise from where he was.

He was not saying anything and neither was I.

"Well," he suddenly said, "I couldn't have kept you company if I hated you".

My heart was unable to settle. Beating hard against my chest and rendering me unable to place my order as I stared at the woman behind the counter wordless.

"I'm so glad you also see the friendship blossoming between us".

I chuckled dryly, "quite unexpected, right?". I quickly told the staff my order and then watched her punch it in.

Philip must've heard the noise and so he decided to ask, "what are you doing?"

I shook my head as if he could see me, then moved on to the other queue.

"Ordering breakfast, I woke up starving".

"There's no starvation in my land". He suddenly said,

I didn't know why, but I laughed and the tension that came from my abrupt confession eased a little. An
