Catherine's POV

I returned to my room to find it peaceful and alone after the hectic festival day. Lizzie's charges and accusations were still fresh in my memory, and I found myself thinking back on what had happened.

The celebration, which was supposed to unite and provide joy to our pack, had devolved into an emotional war zone. Lizzie had been angry and resentful of me, and her nasty comments had caused me to feel pain in my heart.

I let out a long sigh from where I was sitting on my bed. I had always wanted to be the pack's peacekeeper and uniting factor. I was hurting because I knew that Lizzie and I were becoming less and less compatible, and it would not be good for our family.

I looked out the window, seeing our area glistening silver under the moonlight. The peace of the evening offered a sharp contrast to the chaos of the day. I had to find an opportunity to confront Lizzie about her accusations, to set the record straight, and look for a way out.

Catherine's POV Rose was a soothing presence in the area, and I was appreciative of her compassion. Rose's worry was evident as I kept on swinging Ana, her coos creating a calming background for our chat."Catherine," she said softly, "I sense that you're bothered by anything." What are your thoughts?"Because of our connection and mutual trust, I felt comfortable opening up to her and starting to communicate my opinions. "Rose, I encountered Stanley at the festival, and he told me so many things regarding Philip which left me startled."Rose drew forward, her countenance a mixture of worry and anticipation as her eyes grew wide with interest. "What did he tell you, Catherine?"I let out a sigh, the knowledge bearing down on me. Stanley informed me that Philip had moved on and wed someone else. He said that due to I gave birth to Philip's child, Philip is now exploiting me to obtain what he wants. Stanley told me that when Philip is through with me, he will get rid of me."A thick qu

Philip's POV The days after the celebration were different, but not in the manner I had anticipated. I had gotten used to Catherine's presence as the Alpha of our pack, and she would frequently eat with me and talk about our days. However, there was a noticeable shift that I couldn't ignore. There was a noticeable emptiness in my life since Catherine did not join me for breakfast. I attempted to ignore it, assuming that she could have had a hectic morning, but as the day went on, it turned clear that this was not an isolated incident. My anxiety increased when Catherine still hadn't arrived by midday. When I inquired with a few pack members about her whereabouts, they reported that she was alone in her room all day.My heart fell as the hours went by and I couldn't get rid of the impression that Catherine had shied away from me. Our pack had been happy during the celebration, and it had strengthened our bonds. However, it appeared as though a gulf had formed between us, and I was baf

Lizzie's POV My heart was troubled by the festival memories, and I was unable to get rid of the loneliness and rejection that had overtaken me that day. It seemed as though Ana and Catherine had taken my place and left me alone.I was finding it harder and harder to get over the festivities as the days went by. The celebration, which was supposed to be an expression of our solidarity, had instead highlighted the conflicts and uncertainties among our pack members. How I had been ignored and marginalized while Ana and Catherine received all of the attention bothered me. It was as if I had vanished into thin air, a simple observer among the group that I had always thought of as my family. There was always a twinge of anger and resentment in me whenever I watched Catherine with Ana. The celebration had brought our differences to light, and I was unable to let go of the bitterness that had crept into my heart.I was aware that I needed to face these feelings and figure out how to go on. LIZZIE'S POV There had been a lot of nervousness and impatience in the weeks after the festival. Catherine's odd conduct had been bothering me more and more. I was uneasy because I couldn't be sure what she was doing; it looked like everything she did was hidden. My Catherine has always been seen as quiet and reserved. Over the years, I had found solace in her serene and kind demeanor. However, recently, it seemed as though a curtain had been drawn to conceal her actual feelings and thoughts. The most disconcerting alteration was her propensity to disappear for extended periods. Her excuses, such as wanting time either by itself or having things to do, were evasive, but it was unusual for her to act that way.It was impossible for me not to question that she was hiding from me. Was it something to do with the festival's activities, or were there other changes going on that I was not aware of? It was getting harder and harder for me to concentrate on whatever else because of the naggi

CATHERINE'S POV I marched back and forth in my bedroom, feeling anxious on the inside. My eyes drifted from Ana who was lying down and the room's window. Stanley's suggestion had completely upended my universe. Though the way to become the Luna of Blood Slashing Pack was exceedingly hazardous of perilous, the notion itself was alluring. There was a great deal of danger and unpredictability associated with Stanley's proposal to remove Philip and install a new Alpha. I could no longer overlook the threat it caused to the stability and cohesion of our pack. And though Philip and I had formerly been at odds, the Alpha demonstrated remarkable compassion and understanding, which left me balancing my personal goals against the well-being of our family.Philip was not the one with whom I had shared this secret. The decision to participate in such a dark scheme carried nearly intolerable weight. Even if my goal was to maintain my status as Luna, could I live with the fact that I had planned m

LIZZIE'S POV It had been a week of suspense and excitement, but now it was here. My faithful servant Mich was sent to spy on Catherine in an attempt to ascertain the real reason for her strange actions. I couldn't get rid of the persistent feeling that she had hidden things from the family, so I became tenacious in my search. Over the last week, I have been carrying a lot of pressure due to my concerns. I had been waiting impatiently every day to see what Mich's clandestine probe into Catherine's behavior would reveal. Keeping my cool and hiding my concerns before the other members of the family had not been easy.My suspicions had developed as I had observed Catherine intently at the family get-togethers and her dealings with Philip. Her conduct in general, her whispered discussions with Philip, and her covert rendezvous with Rose had raised red flags in my mind. The sensation something that important was being withheld from me persisted.Mich's assignment to spy on Catherine was n

LIZZIE'S POV I patiently waited for days for the right moment to quietly face Catherine. It seems like the only opportunity I had to speak with her in private was when she would routinely take Ana outside for some fresh air. I couldn't take the chance of being heard or observed discussing with her the private information Mich had disclosed. I prepared for the ideal opportunity to get in touch with Catherine, and the days seemed to go on endlessly. Her regular ritual of escorting Ana outdoors had started to dominate my thoughts. This was the one occasion when I may be able to speak to someone privately without setting the family as well as other pack people on edge.I had mentally practiced this dispute countless times. My remarks had to make Catherine understand the seriousness of the issue and the full ramifications of her conduct. However, I had to exercise caution as I was aware that she had acquired a few advantages with Philip and the family. I felt a range of feelings as I ob

CATHERINE'S POV As I entered the community meeting area, where pack members gathered for talks and declarations, I could feel a sense of anxiety in the air. As soon as I walked in, whispers and whispered talks stopped, and interested eyes looked at me. Skepticism and uncertainty weighed heavily on the air, like an unsaid query demanding a response.I felt the wave of unease that went through the group, a sign of their misgivings about my abrupt promotion to a leadership role. Many were confused by the swift change from a Luna behind confinement to a leader guiding the pack's future, and the doubt that pervaded the atmosphere was reflected in their gazes. The scrutiny became more intense as I got closer to the temporary platform where pack leaders normally addressed the members. The looks on the sea on faces ranged from mistrust to flat-out incredulity. It became very apparent how difficult it was for me to gain their trust.I inhaled deeply before going up on stage, with everyone in

As we sat opposite from one another, the weight of duty falling on our heads like a thick blanket, the environment crackled with a feeling of purpose."I had not signed in for this one," Lizzie said, her resolve and doubt visible in her eyes. Our dining room was spacious and well-furnished, which only served to heighten the significance of the talk that was about to take place."What's happening, Philip?" she said, searching my eyes for information.I sat down across opposite her, the enormity of the speech I intended to utter amplified by the oppressive quiet of the room. PHILIP'S POV As I left my house and the small comforts of the family behind, I was met by lengthy shadows from the rising light and relentless trials ahead. Dissatisfaction echoed like spirits in the air, and the familiar smells of the complex told narratives of a pack in disorder.I couldn't stop thinking about Catherine's captivity in our house; the conflict between my responsibilities as an Alpha and a parent kept me restless all the time. I was having trouble sifting through the complicated web that had been created by the pack's requirements, Stanley's lurking danger, and Catherine's deceit.I could hear the pack members' disgruntled whispers as I strolled around the complex. With each second of hesitation that went by, the once-unwavering loyalty that held us together appeared to wane. As the second mate to Philip, I found myself in a difficult position where my loyalty was needed to balance the pack's expectations with Philip's unclear objectives.Beneath my skin was a seethin

An eerie silence had descended upon the pack ever since Catherine's duplicity was exposed, leaving me to deal with the unnerving fallout from my choice to reveal her.I had known all along just what I wanted to do: expose Catherine's betrayal, provoke Philip's fury, and see as he banishes her, cutting the treacherous thread that jeopardized the cohesion of our pack. However, when the days grew into evenings, the anticipated removal never occurred. Rather, Catherine stayed imprisoned within our Alpha's house, a live symbol of the treachery that hung over us like a shadow. My thoughts were tinged with doubt. Why was Philip so attached to Catherine, the beast who had woven a false web to get within our pack? Was he unaware of the threat she created, or was perhaps a more nuanced reality at play that I was unable to discern?I walked erratically into the center of the courtyard, a raging sea of questions racin
