Chapter Hundred and thirteen

LIZZIE'S POV

There had been a lot of nervousness and impatience in the weeks after the festival. Catherine's odd conduct had been bothering me more and more. I was uneasy because I couldn't be sure what she was doing; it looked like everything she did was hidden.

My Catherine has always been seen as quiet and reserved. Over the years, I had found solace in her serene and kind demeanor. However, recently, it seemed as though a curtain had been drawn to conceal her actual feelings and thoughts.

The most disconcerting alteration was her propensity to disappear for extended periods. Her excuses, such as wanting time either by itself or having things to do, were evasive, but it was unusual for her to act that way.

It was impossible for me not to question that she was hiding from me. Was it something to do with the festival's activities, or were there other changes going on that I was not aware of? It was getting harder and harder for me to concentrate on whatever else because of the naggi
