98. A commotion

As he left them, he nodded in silence. Louis was well aware of the challenges that awaited him in winning those youngsters over. He kept a distance from the four of them, unsure of his willingness to put on the act of being a good friend to four kids. Louis detested children.

Sterling was the one who was most averse to this abrupt change in their lives, as Kamara was aware of. She reasoned that he would eventually grow accustomed to it. She said with enthusiasm, "How do you like the pack?" but the boys didn't seem to be getting much better.

"Mom, why are we here?" Stopping in mid-step and glancing at her, Sterling questioned.

"Simply put, Sterling, there was nowhere else we could go. In addition, Louis is my friend, and he's working really hard to make us happy."
