Chapter 59

Wolfe

I slowly opened my eyes before I saw Kaya. Warmth surged through me as all I wanted to do was hold him in my arms. But when I saw Duke standing there and his scent and bite on Kaya, the wolf in me took over. I growled at him before I protectively pulled him behind me.

We were in some kind of cell. For how long was I out? Was this a trap?

"Hey, it's okay," Kaya said and soothingly he rubbed my arm. A low growl rumbling in my throat as my rut slowly creeped back towards the surface. "We can trust him, he is in control now."

Duke widened the hole left in the bars of the cells before he stepped in. He went towards me and reached out his hand to me. "Come on, brother. The fight is far from over."

I looked at his hand and noticed something different about him. His nails no longer looked sharp, his skin gained some color and there no longer were those dark markings around his eyes. "What happened to you?"

"Our mate showed me who I really am." He took my hand and then he pulled me up. I
