The door swung open so fast I had to dive to catch it before it hit the wall. I quietly shut the door, and slid my dagger back into my jeans. A quick glance around and I’m rapidly making my way down the hall to the door. Squatting down, I crack open the door. My ears are straining for any kind of sound; thankfully I hear nothing. Slowly, I peek my head around the door frame and glace both ways, finding it blessedly empty. I squeeze my body out of the tiny crack in the door; terrified to open it farther and run the risk of being seen. Sticking to the walls like paint, I creep my way silently down the hall, keeping my eyes and ears pealed for any sign of a person. I guess in this case it would be a wolf. I can’t help but feel like a ninja, the only thing I’m missing is the black get up and some theme music. I’m finally within eye sight of the front door. My only remaining obstacle is getting past the extremely open living room, a living room that just so happens to have walls made of
PRINCE ANDY POV While Lily was passed out in my room I figured I should use the time wisely and do some solid consideration to my circumstances at the moment. I knew the moment Lily woke up that I would be in for it. I had thought that I wanted to keep going with my life the way it was, but now that I've been around her for a decent amount of time I don't think I can let her go. Watching that vampire about to attack had knocked a little sense into me. I couldn't risk her leaving and getting injured. I needed her. She was a necessary to my existence as the air that I breathe. It was that thought that finally pulled me out of my stubborn streak and brought me to my decision. The one that I should have been able to make without all this back and forth and debating. I'm going to embrace the mate bond, and pray that I can make this work. I think we both could use some body that is a stable and caring person in our lives. After hearing her story I felt really bad for my fiery, little mate.
LILY'S POVIt had been five extremeley long and painful days that I had been locked down here now. I repeat, five freaking days! With each passing hour I got exceedingly angry, and had imagined many, many different painful ways to end his life. By the time he actually lets me out I just might have to act on one of those fantasies, and make sure it’s supremely painful version. The only thing I can give him a little bit of credit for was that just as he said he would, he brought me all of my meals personally. Each time he brought me food he would try to make eye contact and talk to me, but I refused to even so much as glance in his direction. I just don’t understand how he thinks that this is the right way to go about things. I’m fairly sure that normal people talk things out, and try to come up with a compromise, but apparently I was wrong, and not everyone had evolved from the caveman days.On the first day he sat with me in my cell the entire day. We sat in a comfortable silence for t
I’m just lying on my bed thinking of different ways to torture Andy the moment the opportunity arises, when I hear something scurrying. Knowing this may be a once in a lifetime chance, I fly out of the bed and glance around for the source until I find a mouse hiding in the corner. There isn't much time for me to get to it before it inevitably runs off in fear.I quickly ask if it’ll do me a favor. It shakes its head yes.Have you seen a dagger about yay long? I ask holding my hands several inches apart.Again it shakes its head yes, causing me to jump up and down in excitement clapping my hands. Is there any way you can drag it to me? I hopefully ask.Yet again it shakes its head yes and runs off. I can't believe my luck at this point. I'm starting to doubt my luck after a few minutes pass with nothing, but just when I was giving up, I hear the sound I've been waiting for. My dagger dragging across the floor. I suck in a sharp breath, worried they’ll hear the dragging, so I look aroun
My body feels like it’s on fire. Absolutely everything feels like death. Which to be honest at this moment I would almost prefer that. Unwillingly I open my eyes to the smallest squint I can manage, and see that they brought me back into Andy’s room. Grunting in frustration, I slam my head deeper into the pillow and close my eyes again.Surprisingly when I bring my hands up to rub my face, I find that I’m not chained to the bed, so I painfully sit up. Taking a glance down at my body I start taking stock of all of my injuries. My arms, stomach, and legs are scratched up but nothing too bothersome, just an annoyance. The stab wound in my leg is the biggest injury I sustained, but thanks to my advance healing it has already healed enough that I can walk with a bit of a limp.Just the mere thought of yesterday ignites my temper. Some Amato I got stuck with. He freaking threw me through a window! I mean, come on! He could have just tackled me to the ground, but no yet again he makes the wro
That evening, after my shopping spree, we’re all gathered at the table eating dinner. Watching them interact with each other proved to be a bit difficult for me. It reminded me so much of my family that I was fighting back tears. My mom always had this rule that we all had to eat together as a family. The moment we sat down at the table we were to leave all our problems behind and be the loving family she knew we were. Each night we go around the table and recount our day. It sounds cheesy, but it was actually one of the best parts of my day. Andy seemed to notice how distracted I was and grabbed my hand under the table, squeezing it in silent support.Needing to get out of my own head, I quickly change the subject. “You guys do realize that the vamps have a price on my head right?” I ask then slap a hand over my mouth realizing that I rudely interrupted them. I give Duke an apologetic smile once I realized it was him who I cut off.“We are well aware, but school grounds are a neutral
LILY'S POVWalking down the hall, I held everyone’s attention. Most people would cower away from all the prying eyes, but not me. I continued holding my head high and strutted down the hall like I was a successful run way model. I’m sure I looked like a stuck up bitch, but I couldn’t show them any fear. I knew that being the only Fae would either make me a target for bullying or it could make people respect and admire me. I would most definitely prefer the latter. Though I can admit that all these stares were very nerve-wracking.As I was walking down the hall I was secretly keeping my eyes peeled for any important looking vamps. Last night I went online and checked their registry, so I know they have several children in school right now. The target with the most information is going to either be the president’s daughter or son. Both are in my grade, and if I remember correctly the daughter is two years younger. She was a genius and had skipped two grades; therefore, she was now in my
I stood there crouched, waiting on him to make the first move. I saw his left leg twitch, so I moved to the right just as he sent a kick flying my way, narrowly missing my face. I wasn’t expecting him to go for the face on the first hit, so I cast a surprised glare his way.“I told you I wasn’t gonna go easy on you,” he chuckles while trying to punch me.“I told you I was getting payback.”I duck his punch then send my fist flying into his abdomen. “That was for knocking me out with a rock.”I back away while he catches the breath I knocked out of him.“Is that all you got? I expected more from you,” he grunts and sends a series of jabs my way. I throw my forearms up to successfully block all but one which landed on my shoulder.I grit my teeth and shove him away. While he’s stumbling back, I put as much power as I can — without tapping into my Fae strength — into a high kick that lands on the side of his face. I might have kicked him with a little too much power as it sent him flying
