Chapter 14

I stood there crouched, waiting on him to make the first move. I saw his left leg twitch, so I moved to the right just as he sent a kick flying my way, narrowly missing my face. I wasn’t expecting him to go for the face on the first hit, so I cast a surprised glare his way.

“I told you I wasn’t gonna go easy on you,” he chuckles while trying to punch me.

“I told you I was getting payback.”

I duck his punch then send my fist flying into his abdomen. “That was for knocking me out with a rock.”

I back away while he catches the breath I knocked out of him.

“Is that all you got? I expected more from you,” he grunts and sends a series of jabs my way. I throw my forearms up to successfully block all but one which landed on my shoulder.

I grit my teeth and shove him away. While he’s stumbling back, I put as much power as I can — without tapping into my Fae strength — into a high kick that lands on the side of his face. I might have kicked him with a little too much power as it sent him flying
