Chapter 50

Veronica's POV:

I walked into my room, feeling exhausted after giving Alpha Philip's family a tour of the palace. The grandeur of the palace never ceased to amaze me, but today it felt like a burden. As I looked at myself in the mirror, I couldn't help but feel like a stranger in my own body.

I carefully picked out the hairpins that held my hair in place, and letting my hair cascade over my shoulder, I heaved a sigh of defeat. The full moon festival was commencing in two days and I felt restless coupled with the fact that I barely see Lucas these days.

I traced the contours of my face, trying to remember something, anything about my past. But all I could see was a blank canvas staring back at me. It was like my memory had been erased, leaving behind a shell of a person.

Taking off my clothes, one piece at a time, I couldn't help but feel sad because of Lucas's actions earlier on. He ignored me like I didn't exist and it made me feel sad.
