Lucas POV:

I had just finished my afternoon routine of sword training when I bumped into Veronica. She had a sullen expression on her face and no matter how hard she tried to hide it, I knew something was wrong. But who cares anyway? Once the full moon festival is over, I won't need to act nice towards her again and I can confidently go back to my usual flings with Matilda.

"Hey, Vee, where are you headed to?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady as I took a few steps toward her. Her eyes flickered from Parrish's to mine and I could see a glint of sadness in her eyes. What was making her sad? I shrugged off the thought nonchalantly and kept my fake smile unfazed.

"I'm just going for a stroll in the garden," she replied, looking away from me.

"Oh, alright then," I said, trying to keep things light. "I'm headed to the council chambers for a meeting. Are you going to the palace?"
