Chapter 21

"Love? What exactly is that? The king is completely unaware of that thing." I was taken aback by his response because I had not anticipated it. Either he was acting naive or he genuinely did not understand what love entails.

The young girl made a pouting face with her lips. "This is a question that I did not put to my mum. However, we all have parents, and our first priority is to spend time with them. That, in my opinion, is love." Her witty response caused me to smile.

First of all, she mustered up the confidence to speak with the King in front of such a large crowd, and second of all, she was providing him with the explanations for the solutions to his problems. If I were in her shoes, I would have been crying long before she ever started.

"From the time I was a child till the present, I have never desired to be with them. I suppose this is the reason why I am unable to define love." He spoke in such a low voice that the children were unable to hear what he had to say.
