Eva
"Didn't you just walk past her?" Christopher asked, nervousness evident in his tone. "I mean, what changed your mind?" Alpha Lorenzo smirked, a small scoff escaping his lips, and then took my small right hand, bringing it to his face. I could only watch him like a child entranced by a new sight, unable to say a word. "I saw the ring on her finger and thought she was married, so I decided to step away. But then, I realized she might be the one I need," he said, nodding his head and then lowering my hand. I looked at Christopher's scowling face. He silently questioned me with his gaze: Why are you still wearing that darn ring? I carefully observed his fingers, and pushed down the ring, which fell down to the ground before stepping my feet on it. Clenching my jaw, the bitterness and hurt pierced my chest. The pain was overwhelming, especially since I had been rejected in such a weird way."You don't need to take her," Christopher suddenly said. "This woman committed a felony and will be executed soon."
"What did she do?" Alpha Lorenzo asked, his eyebrows raised. "She murdered my brother," Christopher replied, fuming. Everyone looked at me, and I quickly lowered my gaze. Hot tears streamed down my face, knowing I couldn't say anything to prove my innocence. "How much will it cost to take her?" Alpha Lorenzo asked instead, as if he never heard what Christopher said. I quickly glanced at this man, who seemed unaffected by Christopher's words. Did he even hear him correctly? "I said—" "How about a hundred billion?" Lorenzo interrupted. "200? 300?" he added, seeing that Christopher remained silent. I thought he was done, but that was only the beginning. "400? 450? 500? 550—" "I'll take it," Christopher said quickly. Pathetic fool, I thought, not feeling surprised one bit. Christopher's love for money was something I could never understand. I also wondered how wealthy this Alpha must be to spend that much money on me and why was he even doing that? "You can take her and do whatever you wish with her," Christopher said, grinning foolishly. "She's all yours now." He gestured to the jailer, who came forward, removed the handcuffs from me, and led the other prisoners away. They threw jealous and resentful glances in my direction but I averted my timid gaze away. "You can leave us alone now," Lorenzo said. Christopher nodded and left us. "Thank you," I said quickly, my voice small and face innocent. "Why are you thanking me?" he scoffed, putting his hands in his pockets and acting nonchalant. That's when it hit me—was I going to face something worse or more gruesome than death with him? "Follow me," he said. I gulped hard and shuffled behind him. We finally left the yard and got into his car outside the gate the guards opened wide for us. He sat in the backseat while I sat in the front with the driver. During the long, never-ending drive, I couldn't help but worry about my sister, who was probably thinking and asking about me. If only she knew what had happened. I couldn't even tell or excuse myself to see her one last time. We finally arrived in the city, and I was stunned by the beautiful modern cars, tall buildings, happy people, and modern surroundings. It didn't take long to reach his pack, located in the heart of the city. After stopping the car, we exited and started walking through the pack house. "Who's she?" a handsome young man asked, suddenly joining Lorenzo in front. "Let me guess, another slave?" "No," Lorenzo replied, glancing at me. "This one is special. She's a... prisoner." "A prisoner?" Toby asked loudly, turning to me and scanning my face, making me so uncomfortable that I had to look down. "Why was she imprisoned? She seems too timid and beautiful to have done anything wrong." Lorenzo sighed deeply, as if frustrated by Toby's relentless questions. "I should have never supported making you the Beta, Toby. You talk way too much." Lorenzo walked faster, seemingly trying to distance himself from Toby. I had to quicken my pace to keep up with him. We arrived at a door, which we both entered, revealing his lavishly adorned, magnificent bedroom, which left me astonished. But I had to compose myself."Have a seat," he said, removing his black jacket and hanging it on a stand.
I swallowed hard, reluctantly taking a seat on the sofa while watching him sit and drink a bottle of water at the counter.
"Tell me everything that happened," he said, returning to sit on the sofa opposite me. "I'll listen to you."
My teary eyes blinked. I couldn't believe someone like him was willing to hear me out. Sobbing quietly, I began telling him everything that had occurred. He sighed deeply, leaning back in his chair.
"I initially planned to make you a servants here because we need more help in the pack house. These days, you can't hire servants in cities. You have to go deep into town..." He paused, cutting the long story short. "You're free." "Pardon?" I stuttered, thinking I misheard. "I said you can leave, Miss Nurse," he said. "My name is Eva," I whispered, softly, trying to be polite. "I never asked," he said coldly. "You can go since you're now free." I couldn't believe it! He spent that much money on me, listened to my story, felt pity, and then freed me? "Thank you so much," I muttered, standing up and bowing. Just as I was about to open the door, his voice stopped me. "You'd better run and hide well, Nurse," he said. I turned to face him, his eyes focused on the open document before him. "Because once I catch you, I'll tie you to me forever... just like a slave to their master." I swallowed audibly, and without another word, I opened the door and scurried away, leaving it ajar in my haste.EPILOGUETWO MONTHS LATERThe sun cast its golden rays upon the lush gardens of the Night City Pack's estate, where Eva and Lorenzo's wedding celebration was in full swing. LorenzoI leaned in, my lips brushing against Eva's in a tender kiss. She let out a soft laugh, her eyes sparkling with joy."What are you doing?" she teased, her voice filled with warmth.I rubbed her stomach gently, my voice brimming with love and affection. "Baby, please come fast. Your dad is waiting for you."Eva's smile widened, lighting up the entire room. Just then, her phone beeped, signaling a new message.Peering over her shoulder, I saw that it was a message from the Wild Song pack members. I couldn't help but grin as I read the heartfelt words expressing how much they missed her and longed to see her again."They've invited you to the pack," I said, my voice laced with excitement.Eva looked up at me, a hint of uncertainty in her eyes. "Should I go?"I chuckled softly. "Is that even a question? Of course, you should go. But don't worry, I'll be right there with you."Eva nodded, relief washing over her as she realized she wouldn't have to face the pack alone.THE NEXT DAY
EvaA sinister gleam filled Mona's eyes. "I heard you're pregnant, Eva."My mind spun, my voice trembling. "How did you know that?"Mona's smile widened, revealing a hint of cruelty. "Oh, I know everything about you, Eva."To my horror, she reached out and touched my stomach, a chilling intimacy in her gesture."I'll help you get rid of it," she whispered, her voice dropping to a low hiss. "I know you don't want the baby."I recoiled, my body trembling with fear and disbelief. "I never said I didn't want the baby."Mona's grip on my stomach tightened, and I tried to pull away, only to find that heavy chains bound my wrists and ankles, rendering me utterly helpless. With a flourish, Mona produced a dagger, its point glinting ominously in the dim light. I watched in horror as she traced the blade across my stomach, a wicked grin playing on her lips."You won't need this burden," Mona hissed, her eyes filled with a terrifying madness.A searing pain erupted in my stomach as the dagger sl
EvaRising from my seat, I followed the nurse as she led me to the lab for tests. With each step, my mind raced, conjuring innumerable possibilities.Anxious moments stretched into an eternity as I awaited the results, lost in a whirlwind of thoughts.Eventually, the nurse returned, her voice calling out, "Eva Chapman, please proceed to the doctor's office. Your results are ready."I stood up and went over to the door, which I knocked, my heart hammering in my chest, and entered.A woman with a warm smile greeted me. "Hello, Eva. I'm Dr. Rachel Thompson. Welcome. Please, take a seat."I complied, curiosity piqued by the doctor's optimistic demeanor. Could it mean that my test results were normal? Was I truly alright after all?Leaning forward, Dr. Thompson's eyes shone with kindness. "Eva, I have good news and...complicated news."My heart plummeted. Complicated? A feeling of dread washed over me. "What do you mean?" I asked, attempting to maintain a facade of calm.Dr. Thompson's smi
Eva Six hours ago... Standing beside Thelma in our cozy kitchen, I methodically chopped vegetables for dinner. The tantalizing aroma of sautéed ginger usually filled me with warmth and comfort, but today it was suffocating. I covered my nose, scrunching my face in disgust. "Thelma," I choked out, "I...I don't know what's wrong. This smell is nauseating." She turned to me, her brow creased with concern. "Eva, are you alright? You normally love the smell of ginger." I shook my head, a wave of nausea washing over me. "I don't know. It just...ugh." Before Thelma could respond, I bolted out of the kitchen, my hand clamped over my mouth. I raced to the bathroom and collapsed to my knees, retching violently into the toilet. The intensity and suddenness of my illness left me bewildered. After splashing my face with cold water, I stared at my pallid reflection in the mirror, unease settling over me. What was happening? With a deep breath, I gathered my courage and made my way back to th
Mona I ran through the dense forest alongside Erica, our footsteps pounding against the earth. Finally, we stopped and looked back, seeing no one pursuing us. "Fuck!" I exclaimed, running my hands through my hair in frustration. "Can you stop screaming?" Erica snapped, her expression stern. "What if they hear us and come for us? It's all your fault." I scoffed, turning to her. "You're not a saint, Erica. And don't try to tell me what to do." "I'm done following you, Mona," her anger flared, her voice rising. "It's not like I killed James; that was your doing. I'm not a murderer. I'M OUT." My grip on her arm tightened. "Where do you think you're going? You can't just leave." "Watch me. We're over," Erica said, her eyes flashing with a firm tone in her voice. I felt a surge of panic, my mind racing. "You can't just walk away." Erica's gaze hardened. "I can, and I will." I seethed with rage as she walked away. Without thinking, I grabbed a big stone and screamed, charging behind
