The Offer

Eva

"Eva!" Thelma yelled my name, and I stood up. Seeing her brought tears of joy to my eyes. She ran up to me, and we hugged.

"I'm glad you're alright," she said, and I nodded quietly, sniffling softly. We were at the station, and the cops had contacted Thelma after I explained that I was new to the city and knew no place around. I needed to get to my sister, and thankfully, I knew her phone number by heart. It was such a big relief.

"Come on, let's go," she said, taking my hand. We left the station and got into a cab to her place. Upon arrival, she immediately prepared food from the kitchen and gave it to me and I started eating as if I hadn't eaten for months.

"Easy, the food isn't running away," she told me, chuckling softly, though she couldn't blame me for my behavior. I only smiled and asked for more. When I was completely full, I drank a whole cup of water and let out a sigh.

"What happened?" Thelma asked, cutting to the chase. I looked at her, seeing concern on her face. After explaining everything that had happened, she was overjoyed and kept thanking Alpha Lorenzo.

"Although, I can't believe he did that," she said, shaking her head. "Everyone knows him to be quite cold. Well, you can't really judge someone, they say. Now, tell me, what are your plans now?"

I sighed deeply and answered after a brief pause, "I don't want to go back to Wild Song Pack. I'd rather stay in the city."

She smiled, holding my hands, "Are you saying you'll stay with me and my husband?"

"I'm sorry, but I can't," I replied, shaking my head, releasing my hand from her grip. "I don't want to be a burden on you both. I'm planning to get a house and a job."

"But you aren't a burden to me," she frowned. "You're my sister, and I'm certain my husband would understand and want you to stay. When he gets back from work, I'll talk to him."

"No, Thelma, please," I sighed, shaking my head. "I'm serious. You don't have to worry about me. However, there's something I need your help with. I promise I'll repay you."

"What's that?" she asked.

"Can I borrow some money from you?" I asked softly. "So I can rent a small room in the city for a few months. I'll start searching for jobs immediately."

"No problem, you can borrow as much money and things from me as you need, and you don't even have to pay me back. You're my sister, remember?" she said, and I smiled.

"Thank you," I muttered, and she nodded.

"Now, tell me, what kind of job do you plan to do?" she asked, reaching for her laptop on the coffee table. "Nursing, I guess?"

"No," I replied sharply. "That's not in my plans for now, please. What happened back at Wild Song still traumatizes me. I'm thinking of getting a job as a secretary, waitress or something."

"Good then," she said, nodding her head. "The city needs more secretaries, I would prefer you go for that."

With her computer, she helped me rent a room, which she paid for, and applied for jobs in five different places. I couldn't thank her enough. However, when I told her I needed to move in immediately, she was upset.

"Why not stay the night?" she asked.

"No, please," I declined her offer.

Seeing that I was stubborn, and knowing she couldn't change my mind, she gave me some clothes, which I wore after taking a bath, and enough money to buy more clothes and food for the next few weeks as well as some savings.

"Please, no," I begged, shaking my head, on the verge of tears. "You need to let me in. I'm supposed to be interviewed with the rest. See?" I showed the security guards my interview acceptance on my phone.

"You're late. You can't come in," they said firmly, and I stepped back, my face falling as tears streamed down my face. It wasn't my fault. I was simply having trouble finding the company since I wasn't yet familiar with the city.

"I just worked hard for over five days and nights for nothing," I whispered. But if the guards thought I was giving up, they were wrong.

I got down on my knees, and the men gasped in surprise. "Please help me. I'm just thirty minutes late."

"You should stand up and stop embarrassing yourself," one of them said, letting out a tired groan. "We are only following orders. If you want to beg someone, you should make an appointment to meet the CEO."

"What's going on here?" I heard a deep voice resound from behind me. "And why does someone need to make an appointment with me?"

My eyes widened as I quickly realized that the man behind me might be the wealthy CEO of this well-known manufacturing company.

This was my chance, and I needed to act smart and make the most of it. I quickly stood up, dusted myself off, and put on a smile before turning around. However, seeing the familiar face before me made my smile disappear, and my mood completely shifted.

Alpha Lorenzo?

I remembered his last words, and cold chills ran down my spine. Was I in trouble now? Should I still get on my knees and beg for a chance in this interview, or should I run away? I thought.

I couldn't even do anything, as it seemed like I had become frozen in place. My eyes locked with his, and no words formed on my lips.

"Caught you!" he finally said, breaking the deep silence between us. His voice was a deep whisper, a smirk forming on his lips.

I quickly got on my knees, since I had no idea what was going to happen to me next, but I knew it might be really bad. "Please forgive me," I said. "I'll leave and disappear forever. You won't have to see me again."

"There's no need," he said, his voice thick. "I warned you to run and hide. Since we've met again, come with me. I have an offer for you."
