As the morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, I stirred awake to find the bed empty beside me. The brightness stung my eyes, and I squinted, searching for any sign of Lorenzo's presence. But he was nowhere to be seen.

A small note on his pillow caught my attention, the handwriting unmistakably his: "Sorry I didn't say goodbye. Had to leave. -L"

I sighed, a mix of disappointment and understanding washing over me. Last night's conversation had left us both vulnerable and raw, our emotions laid bare.

Pushing aside the covers, I swung my legs over the side of the bed, my stomach growling in protest. I hadn't eaten dinner since I had to leave home abruptly to attend to Lorenzo after his call. Even when I returned, my appetite had been absent, my mind preoccupied.

It was time to fuel up.

With sleepy steps, I shuffled to the kitchen, expecting to whip up a simple breakfast of scrambled eggs or toast. But as I entered, a delightful surprise awaited me.
