Just as I was starting to panic, a voice called out, "Eva, wait! What's going on? Why are you running away?"

I swallowed hard and slowly turned to face the car. My eyes widened as I saw Toby's head popping out of the car's window, looking all worried.

"My goodness!" I heaved a sigh of relief, my heart calming down.

Toby pulled up beside me again, his brows furrowed with concern. "Why were you running? What happened?"

I hesitated, then shook my head. "Never mind."

Toby's expression turned gentle. "You can tell me, please. You acted so strange back there. Is everything alright?"

My eyes fluttered closed as I clenched my fists tightly, the memory still raw. "When you followed me from behind, it triggered the traumatic experience I had a few days ago...with the kidnappers. Remember?"

Toby's expression turned apologetic. "Oh no! I'm so sorry for sneaking up on you like that. I didn't mean to scare you."

I took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "It's okay. I'm fine now."
