As soon as Eva left, I let out a heavy sigh, rubbing my forehead in frustration. This girl never listens, I thought to myself. Does she think she's still in her small pack, where the only danger is a stray wolf? This city is vast and treacherous, and she still doesn't want to learn – meeting anyone anymore and exchanging numbers. How did she even meet Toby outside in the first place? I had various questions I wanted to ask her, but my anger got the better of me.

I refocused on the documents in front of me, but my mind kept wandering back to Eva. I decided to push the papers away, realizing I wasn't concentrating anymore. A bottle of wine from the cellar sounded appealing, and I thought of getting one to calm my mind. But before I could stand up, a knock at the door stopped me in my tracks. I quickly sat back down, assuming it was Eva again. I pretended to be engrossed in my papers, trying to appear nonchalant.

The knock came again, and I felt a surge of irritation. "Come in!"
