SARA

I had sensed something was different from the moment the visiting Alpha Darius had arrived. Eden, normally so commanding and charismatic during official visits, had seemed withdrawn, his eyes often drifting to me rather than focusing on our guests.

At dinner, his usual ease was absent, his responses short, his laughter forced. It was as if he had left me to manage the evening’s pleasantries on my own.

I felt the weight of his gaze on me constantly, a silent pressure that made me feel both protected and scrutinized.

After the evening’s festivities, Once Alpha Darius had retired to his chamber, I decided to check on the twins with Fay before heading to my own room.

As I passed the door to the Alpha’s study, it suddenly swung open. I barely had time to react before Eden’s strong hand grabbed my arm and pulled me inside, the door slamming shut behind us.

“What’s going on?” I asked, confused by his intensity. His eyes were dark, a storm brewing beneath the surface.
