CHAPTER FIFTY-ONE

As I heard his footsteps fading away, after telling him it was over between us. I stood frozen for a moment, my hand resting against the door where he had just been.

The weight of my words settled in my chest like a stone, heavy and unyielding. I had meant what I said, but I didn’t make it any easier to bear.

I moved slowly away from the door, my steps unsteady as I crossed the room and sank onto the edge of the bed.

The silence around me was deafening, a stark contrast to the storm of emotions raging inside me. I buried my face in my hands, my heart aching with a pain so deep it felt like it might never heal.

How did it come to this? I wondered, my thoughts racing. I had always believed that Eden saw me as his equal, that he trusted me as much as I trusted him. But his actions had shattered that belief.

He had kept me in the dark, made decisions that affected both of us without so much as a word. It was as if he didn’t trust me… didn’t see me strong enough to stand by his side
