1. True mates.

"Athena get down here immediately!" My father bellowed from downstairs.

I sighed in exhaustion before pulling my dark long hair that was knotted into a ponytail. I washed my face and quickly brushed my teeth looking at my pale white skin and lifeless blue eyes.

I wondered what my father now wanted. It was six in the morning, it was not my families usual hours of waking up.

I was being tortured by my own family and it all started because I hadn't shifted when I had turned sixteen, I was ridiculed by everyone for not having a wolf which included my parents as well.

In just a matter of a week they looked down at me as a family disgrace. It took only a week for me to become there maid. They even kept me inside the house because of me being wolf less.

Even my own big sister saw me as a disgrace to the family. I had no idea why I hadn't shifted, they called me abnormal freak because I was the first to have ever been wolf less.

At one point they wanted to throw me out of the pack for being wolf less but decided against it because I knew too much, not even my own parents stood up for me.

I can't remember the amount of times I've cried because of everything that I've gone through. I remember the times I was treated fairly by the pack and my family but no more.

Thank god I had turned eighteen today and would be leaving this hell hole I lived in. I knew my parents weren't planning anything for my birthday, they abandoned that tradition when I had not shifted at the age of sixteen.

Hopefully my mate was not from this pack and I wouldn't get to see my awful family and pack ever again.

I headed down the stairs seeing my mom and dad talking to our pack, Beta William surprisingly.

"Yes dad?" I asked a little taken back by the Beta's presence in our home.

"I need you to get our guest something to eat and drink from the kitchen." My mom stated to me while cuddled up to my father's side.

My elder sister sat next to Mom on the sofa, dreamily admiring the Beta. Rose was the complete opposite of me.

While I had my father's tall and thick black hair, Rose on the other hand had mom's hair which was strawberry blonde and while my skin was pale white, Rose's was tanned due to the fact that she got to go outside while my parents banned me from going outside in order not to embarrass them.

"Ok." I responded leaving the room.

Just like me, Rose hasn't found her mate just yet and she's nineteen. Rose and Beta William has been secretly seeing each other and my parents were very happy about.

They of course wanted their jewels to have a high rank in the pack with status as we were only Omega's, the lowest of our packs, then you have the Beta which is second in command to the Alpha who is first.

But if you asked me this was entirely wrong on so many levels. What would happen when they found their true mates? obviously there's going to be tension and even, broken heart.

Once a werewolf reaches eighteen that's when the bonds between mates get prominent and real and then they can find who there mates are.

That's when mating begins.

Even the Alpha in our pack, Alpha Leo was seeing Beta Williams sister, Emma.

I always wondered how it would play out if the two were to find their mates sometime soon.

I headed out the kitchen after preparing snacks for our guest.

I placed the plate and stood to the corner of the room to hear what was happening between the Beta and my family.

"We called you here is because we assume you're bringing my daughter to the mates ceremony tonight?" My mother smiled proudly while side eyeing Rose proudly.

"As Omega's you have no right to dictate what a Beta should and should not do. As you may know the mates ceremony is for finding true mates and showcasing one's true mate. Having Rose by my side while seeking to find my true mate would be a stupid thing to do Mrs. Velez." The Beta addressed sternly.

"B..but Beta Williams you previously said that you would make my daughter be your chosen mate if you hadn't found your true mate by your twenty first birthday." My mom spoke shocked.

"I have spoken my final words, and if anything about this gets out there'll be sever consequences for you and your family." Beta Williams got up and headed towards the door.

"Mr. and Mrs. Velez." He addressed before glaring at me hiding in the corner and then left.

I watched my parents expression as they sat shocked at what had just happened while Rose remained sad.

I took that as my que to leave and head back to my room before they got angry and directed their anger at me.

I picked out my simple white spaghetti dress that reached above my knee, it was all that I had and I knew the others would have lavish dresses except me. My parents only had the best for Rose.

I slumped down in bed hearing my parents angry voices. Soon they'll shift and head outside to have a run, having the Beta find his true mate tonight would be a low blow for them.

And for the rest of the day I busied myself with house chores and counted down the minutes in hopefully finding my mate now that I was eighteen today.

My birthday yet my family careless about it, hopefully my mate would see my worth and treasure me.

Hours later and the mates ceremony was in full swing. My parents would gladly let me go in order for my mate to take me away from them but they made sure I stayed out of sight in order not to embarrass them tonight.

"Remember to stay the hell away from me, I don't want anyone to think we're related in anyway." My big sister scornfully told leaving to find her mates.

I watched as a few people happily found their mates and this then gave me hope that I'd find mine as well.

I wondered around hearing commotion before seeing Beta Williams kissing a girl who was no doubt his mate, everyone erupted into celebration, I looked towards my sister to see her crying before running off.

I followed after my sister, I placed my differences aside knowing my sister needed me but before I could reach her a slight scent caught my attention.

"Mate." A voice I knew all too well said from behind me.

I turned around and sucked in a breath as I met the shocker of my entire life. Not in a million year would I have ever thought this powerful wolf would be true mate.

The Alpha, Alpha Leo was my mate, standing before me with desires that I've never seen before radiating off the Alpha.
