Morning came, and I was awakened by the scent of savory steak passing through my nostrils.

My eyes fluttered open and the first sight was an unknown room which was different from my recollection of books piling on the floor or the lack of them.

Or the bathroom that I last remember before losing consciousness.

The steak I smelled was just next to the bed where I was laid. It was served in a trolley and some garnish that could satiate my appetite.

There was the sound of humming, a familiar foreign melody that only "she" could sing.

My half body sprung out from the bed and I was greeted by someone crouching on the floor as she was wiping the floor with a rag.

She lifted her head and Lenalee beamed that instant.

"Good morning, Lady Rosaria."

I was too stunned to move as a tear fell from my eye. I moved out of the bed and wrapped my arms around her.

"Oh Hati, dear Hati! It was all a dream!"

Of course it was! It had to be, Lenalee was right here.

Lenalee giggled as she held my hand. “I am

Perhaps the way he knelt down before me gave me a startle. My thoughts were all over the place that I hadn’t given myself enough time to absorb his words. While Phineas lost all of his weariness at that instant and was applauding from the sidelines and Varick finally stood up and returned his stoic expression, I was standing there—speechless— that a whirlwind of events happened in a span of a day. The invasion, the truth about Lenalee, her death… … and now, I was pregnant with the Alpha Leader’s child. Now it made sense why I was having a nauseating feeling last night and while I was grieving, I didn’t sense a new life in my womb. He held my cheek, and I stiffened from his foreign caring gesture. It felt warm and assuring to be touched by him. “You were hurt by those rogues. How were you feeling?”“I-I’m fine, r-really. They didn’t hurt me that much. Also, my regenerative ability helped me feel better.” I was not used to his kindness that my face burned up, glancing away from t

  • The Alpha's Bridal Nun   The Small Cottage Behind The Lake

Each wolf pack needs a Seer. A Seer’s duty for the wolves was to relay the words of the Moon Goddess’s to the pack. They were the ones who would announce the wolf’s fate like their destined mates or their roles in the pack. They were also called the oracles, the diviners or messengers of the wolf goddess. But their origin continued to be shrouded in mystery. No wolf in history had ever known how they became Seers, aside from their own. Before a Seer dies, one announces their successor to be the new Seer in the pack. And we thought it was the norm without question, like a silent agreement to never dwell on its history. The current Seer in the Skollist Pack was an enigma I couldn’t decipher. He rarely showed up during the coming of age rituals to identify a wolf’s life mate and relied more on the pack’s messenger to speak for his behalf. You could say he was like the High Mage, Phineas, but far worse, in a sense that we barely knew his existence. Now I was given this opportunity to f

  • The Alpha's Bridal Nun   Inevitable Prophecy

“I believe you have questions longing to be answered,” he stated, and I confirmed from his eyes that he had long observed me in silence. The dining room brought a feeling of normalcy that I didn’t expect from a wolf of prestige. Just like the hall where we had our greetings, the ambience felt homely. After he caught me in my own thoughts about my worries, my eyes dropped to catch sight of a bowl of porridge before me. When did he place a meal without me getting a whiff of its delectable smell? I felt foolish and obvious from the lack of focus around my surroundings and the Seer called it out.“Oh,” I said as I grabbed the spoon that was neatly placed next to the bowl. “Sorry, I have been rude, despite your hospitality.”“Well, I don’t blame you for the confusion of all things that happened to you. For instance, you were forced to marry rather than become a devoted nun to your Church.”“Yes, about that…” I gripped on my dress as I mentally brace myself to speak what came to my mind.

  • The Alpha's Bridal Nun   Faith Being Questioned

The Seer looked displeased with my words then he crossed his arms. There was a long tense atmosphere in the once comfortable dining room and I knew the inevitable for bringing Hati to the only wolf who could hear the Moon Goddess's voice."It seems that your church brainwashed you to believe such claims.""No, if you feel his words, his presence and the scriptures that were passed through generations, Hati wouldn't wish for the wolves to die for his sake."Based on the seriousness of the situation, the Seer could potentially report this to Varick but then again, I have the baby in me. He wouldn't take action against me while I could potentially carry the reincarnation of Skoll.I knew it sounded like I held my own child as hostage but if it meant for me to give me more freedom of expressing my thoughts, then I shall continue taking advantage of this.I was ready for any reprimands from the Seer and brace myself—"Pfft!" —Only to get myself caught off-guard."This is why I found the s

"That was a nice nap!" Phineas stretched his arms when he came out from the bedroom. ‘But I am impressed. The Seer doesn’t have any maids around and with a weak affinity to magic, he definitely had a lot of time to clean here.’He arrived at the living room and spotted the Seer reading one of the books he lent months back. Up until now, he hadn’t returned it to him but it didn't matter. Samael didn't know how to return what he borrowed, after all.His head perked up and his eyes lit. “Oh, about time you’re awake. You slept like a log for five hours.”‘That long?’ He thought. He yawned again as he stretched his arms. "With the events yesterday and some renovations in the aftermath, would you really blame me if I wanted to take a break?"He gave him an odd stare. “The current Alpha leader hasn’t rested until now.”Phineas ruffled his hair. “Well, I need more energy to gain more mana. Do you mind if you cut me some slack when I’m this tired?” He yawned again. In fact, P

  • The Alpha's Bridal Nun   Doubts and Fears

Of all the wolves who caught me using Hatiist magic, it had to be Magellan. He was known for starting public executions without the Alpha Leader’s consent, thus, with Jerri’s case without trial. ‘But this is bad.’ My foot stepped backward as my heart raced. The child was frozen stiff, yet he didn’t leave his father’s side. Holding his hand with his dear life as he never left the sight of the intimidating presence of the Skollist official guards. My eyes wandered at his father and his skin started to lose its color and any time, he would succumb to the poison if I didn’t do any—“GUARDS! SEIZE THAT WOMAN, THIS INSTANT!”The guards did as they were told, marched towards my direction and apprehended my arms before I could make my escape. “This man is being poisoned!” I exclaimed. “At least allow me to heal him!” I violently struggled to release their grip.“Don’t you talk back, Hatiist cult! I don’t care if you are the Luna but rules are rules! You shall be beheaded for your insolen

  • The Alpha's Bridal Nun   Unfathomable Doubts

It was….fortunate that the poison wasn't as strong as the curse marked on Varick during that day. Yet, I was so exhausted that I almost dropped my knees or faint from weariness. Panting, I tried to catch my breath as I stared at Magellan in the eye, without an ounce of fear ingrained in my eyes. However Magellan's burly face turned pink as his eyes were visibly wide. With his shaky accusing finger, he pointed at me. "A DEVIL! The Luna is a bloody devil in disguise!" Oh Hati. I couldn't believe this dreadful beta male—! The guards harshly pushed my wobbly, weakened body on the ground as my arms were forcibly held tight by them. Now, my face kissed on the cold, dirty pavement. And it only brought a sinister laughter from him. "This woman shall be executed this instant!" He bellowed. "Don't hurt her!" The child grabbed the leg of the guard. "She saved my papa! You can't do that to her!" The male wolf I saved kneeled before Magellan. "It is true that I am against their reli

  • The Alpha's Bridal Nun   Testing The Waters

The Skollist pack should have been overjoyed to hear the news of the upcoming heir taking over the pack. But time had been cruel to the wolves born in this pack. None were jubilant anymore, especially when many had lost their lives in the sudden invasion. From the looks of the pack, after hearing my pregnancy, they weren't exactly thrilled for the security of their protector.Perhaps Magellan's words resonated their true feelings more than Varick's obligation to protect them.If anything, Varick was more… disconnected within the pack and Magellan took advantage of it. However, after I felt his hand gripping mine and was shaking, I turned to him and even if he didn't show it, I caught a glimpse of fear in his eyes as cold sweat dripped from his cheek. "Varick?" I called to him in a low, whispering voice. And he broke the trance that kept him lost in his thoughts."Are you okay?" I asked. He didn’t respond, as he only stared at the crowd as they were slowly dissipating, the father an

Warning: implied sexual child abuseVarick’s POVI despised the thought of resting. It is the time when I’m the most vulnerable that anyone could easily slit my throat. So, I’ve always trained myself to be wary of my surroundings even when my consciousness drifted to its slumber. But it wasn’t what ticked me off. Rather, I wouldn’t mind being killed in my sleep if anyone dared to do so. It was the dreams that continue to haunt me. Dreams of old realities that I locked in my memories.Sometimes I dreamt of the time of that night after my marriage with Rosaria. Bounded by fate that I couldn’t escape, I thrusted my anger and self-loathing into her while I forcibly took her chastity. Anger on the fate given to me as I would die an inevitable death and to everything else that happened before the revelation. As soon as I poured my first seed into her unwilling womb, she murmured something under her breath and I pulled her away, catching a glimpse of her lifeless eyes before I stormed out o

“PHINEAS!”The sound of my voice reached his ears like a thunderclap, making him jump from his seat. The moment I entered his tent, his robes were drenched and stained with red wine. “Have I called you at the most inopportune timing?” I shouldn’t have asked, seeing Phineas in a foul mood, I knew I shouldn’t bother him at this hour. Seeing bottles of alcohol on the table, he had been drinking the entire time. He squeezed the bottom part of his robes while continuing to glare at me.“What?” It must be the alcohol talking but his cheeks were flushed red—but then again, it could be because his anger pointed directly to my direction. “Sorry, Phineas but it would be great if I could speak to you alone. Could we teleport somewhere else?” I whispered as I glanced at the tent outside, hearing the voices of gossiping women and children playing around didn’t give us any privacy at all.He immediately noticed the change of my expression and despite overdosing with alcohol, he recovered to sobr

  • The Alpha's Bridal Nun    A Lucid Dream

It took them months before they took all of their Skollist pack members and hid them all in the large grotto where they knew they were safe. Just as suspected, more of the nuclear bombs dropped from the sky and directly to their vicinity and the area was nothing but a wasteland. Nearby packs and other races had long fled from their homes from the toxic fumes reaching their territory and begged to move across the borders and away from the war. But the Red Moon Pack wouldn’t give a damn. They only wanted what they were meant to do in the first place: To eliminate Skoll’s descendant along with his pack. And so, all hid in the grottos, the swamps and the forests hidden from the human eye. And they feared the worst that the more they threw those “bombs” into their land, the lesser chance of making the area inhabitable. The Skollist wolves had gone defiant that some had gone rogue and begged the wolves across the border to enter—only to reach their demise as they were kil

"Do you actually believe that elf, my lord?" Perturbed by the events, Herschel asked the second time after they departed. They walked back to the grotto whereas the elf known as Verona embarked a quiet journey back home. "Whether I believed her or not, the fact that the atomic bomb was true. If they strike again, most likely they will strike our kingdom first."And there would be no pack to protect if all failed. "These bombs…even this is beyond my expertise," he murmured, apprehensively. "What must we do to stop the bombs, my lord?""Humans are aware that they do not wish to interfere with magical beings and their affairs. They are supported by the Red Moon Pack. If we kill its Alpha, they have no reason to attack us."For now.“What about this human bard she spoke so highly of? Why did he save us, my lord?”Varick's lips pursed yet his feet didn't stop heading back to the grotto. All of his years, the Alpha of the Skollist pack often speaks with his mind. When he

  • The Alpha's Bridal Nun   A Monstrosity

It had been twenty minutes and there wasn't any progress in healing the mages. Their burns and their exposure to the explosion had been too difficult to heal them, let alone those who were unwilling to be touched by me. In fact, I couldn't as the chemicals and toxic scent might be contagious. So, Phineas and I made a wind barrier to avoid spreading the toxin around the pack. Yet, even so, I had to hurry or else the rest of the soldiers' lives would reach their inevitable end unless I made haste. "Please…let me die…" These agonizing words continued repeating in between their groans. Yet, I continued chanting the Holy Lycan spells, avoiding a single second of distraction as I tried to repair the soft tissues of their burned skin. Yet, fixing a charred skin to its original form would take hours for a single man. I started to doubt I could save them all. 'No, I shouldn't think like this! These men deserved to live!' I thought as a trail of sweat irritated my eye as I continued

I love this book but for the time being with the burn out I'm feeling, I'd rather pause and continue once everything is fine. Once again, thanks for your support for reading this book. “Phineas, send us there now!” Yet, Phineas stood there, petrified like his eyes stared at the smoke before him. I grabbed his shoulder and violently shook him to regain his senses. “We have no time, Phineas! Varick is—!”“No, we can’t.”At first, his cold voice surprised me before I glared at him. “Why not? We are the healers, aren’t we?!”Phineas turned to glare at me. “Luna, don’t let your emotions sway your decision! You can use your canine senses, right?!”As soon as he mentioned it, I sensed it. The scent was faint yet I could recognize it so well. I didn’t realize the lingering smell of a mixture of decaying bodies and toxins around the area. It made my stomach churned as I knelt on the ground.I rushed to a nearby bush and vomited. I was holding my breath for too long and when I came to my senses, the scent was so agonizing that I knelt down and threw up.“I can’t risk you going there, Luna. Varick clenched his fists as he glowered. Some of his men stepped back as their wolves whimpered. This was supposed to be a surprise attack, yet, why were they the ones surprised. In Varick's mind, someone–within the pack–relayed a message of their incoming strike. It wasn’t common to have his own men betray him in exchange for being spared from death. Yet, none were successful to ever live after the betrayal. "This will be the day we will kill you, Varick!" Cassius, the Alpha of Blue Fangs bellowed. Varick didn't respond as he threw out his sword and shield, making the enemy side "think" he surrendered. No, wolves who personally fought him knew that his armor was more of a disability of his. And now, the Alpha decided to strip himself off his armor, showing his chiseled body with his battle scars. The enemy packs roared in laughter."Surrendering yourself naked? • The Alpha's Bridal Nun   Reaching The Red Moon Pack

They had finally arrived at the gated vicinity of the Red Moon Pack. They camped within the grotto within the waterfall as it was a great place for their hidden base. The pack also removed every trace of their tracks behind. Horses were situated outside the grotto and three of the troops acted as guards and feeders for the stallions. The tents were placed as their temporary residing station. It was at night time when they arrived and they lit a bonfire inside. They made sure the vicinity was being protected by the High Mage's magic barrier to avoid tracing their scent. All men, weary from moving on foot, sat on the ground as they were waiting for the Alpha to make his speech. As they knew this war would be the first they decided to strike. In the past battles, a fight between them and the other packs happened when the outsider decided to strike them first. Now with the successful invasion and the innocent lives died through an unknown cause, in their minds, st
