Kai’s pov

I was trapped inside that cave for hours, but it could have been days for all I knew. All I felt was pain everywhere, but the worst part was being trapped and feeling like I couldn’t breathe. It was dark and cramped and I was losing hope, the longer it took for Moon to get me out.

In all honesty, it came as a relief when I got knocked out. Or died? I don’t even fucking know. It went black and I felt this sense of peace.

Then I felt nothing for a while, just amazing numbness. But it was like something was pulling me back and there was this euphoric feeling that washed over me. Like this pull to something or someone. I had to come back.

Everything was still dark and it was freaking me the fuck out. Was I still trapped in that cave, only I didn’t feel it? Had my body died, but had my spirit remained stuck there? I knew Moon was trying to get me out, but maybe she had been too late.

Dad. Dad! Beta Norman said he was killing my dad, slowly. Fuck, I needed to go back. I neede

Im also DONT know how Kai is gonna be able to move fast and fight missing a hand? If he can shift he won’t have good balance let alone fight well. Why not leaving it only with the new hair cut but keep his hand

Moon’s pov I had been wanting Kai to wake up and at the same time I had dreaded it. What would he say? What would he do? Would he hate me even more if he found out what I did? I knew I had to be the one to tell him. If he was going to hurt someone in his anger or pain, it should be me. But Kai surprised me by doing the exact opposite. He was kind and he wanted to stay at my pack. Was he in shock? He barely responded to losing his arm or losing his dad. He loved his father, I knew he did. So was he holding everything in? Was he like me, focusing only on revenge or he would break? But for once, I wasn’t the target of his revenge. That fucking bastard Norman was. I didn’t know how he killed Alpha Tallon, but I knew it was him. What Kai said, only proved it. When Kai was checked out of the hospital, I picked him up with Racheal and she drove us to my pack. Kai and I sat in the back. I had no clue why he wanted to stay here. Absolutely none. “He said he was sorry about not believing y

Kai’s pov I saw a smile for the first time in years, when I talked to Moon about our shared past. It made me feel better too, remembering a time before all this crap happened. I didn’t know what the fuck I was doing. I was trying to be nice to her, show her I had changed, but there was too fucking much going on. I lost my dad. No, I didn’t lose him, he was fucking killed and I couldn’t even say goodbye. I was worried about my mom, worried about my pack and I was fucking pissed I lost my hand. But I knew I couldn’t take any of that out on Moon. She had saved me and I knew it couldn’t have been an easy choice to take my hand. But what she felt worse about, was marking me. Yeah, it surprised me and it messed with my fucking head. But it wasn’t something that was gone, like my hand. It was a new chance to get to know Moon. To look inside her head and see what she was hiding. Because fucking hell, was she good at suppressing her emotions. “Takes one to know one.” Ronin said. I growle

Moon’s pov Sleeping next to Kai was the best night sleep I had ever had. But I wouldn’t tell him that. Things were too difficult. He was nice to me now and he said he believed me, but we could never get past what I did. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw the woman who had done horrible things for Norman. So I could only imagine what Kai thought when he saw me. Besides, he just lost hid dad, his hand. No, no I had to get the thought of Kai out of my head. He wasn’t mine. Even if he was my mate and I had marked him, he wasn’t in love with me and he deserved better. I left Kai’s tent and got dressed. I didn’t have any nice clothes, so I had no idea what to wear. Grandpa came to pick me up, holding a large box. “I thought you might not have something to wear?” “You bought me a dress, grandpa?” I said confused. Grandpa winked, “don’t worry, it’s nothing bad. An outfit befitting for an Alpha.” I opened the box and inside was a black jumpsuit. It had thick straps and golden

Kai’s pov Moon didn’t come home until very late. I spent the day talking to Moon’s Beta and Gamma, showing them the weak spots in my pack. It felt strange, letting another pack know where the best places were to attack us. But I wanted this attack to be over quickly and with as little casualties, on both sides, as possible. Alpha Malcom was traveling to my pack, to say goodbye to my father. The whole thing was fucked up. instead of being at home at my dad’s funeral, I was busy sharing pack secrets to our “enemy.” But I knew who the real enemy was, that fucker Norman. I just hoped Moon got some good news. Through our bond I felt like it went well. She seemed more relaxed. She deserved it, after everything she had gone through. As soon as I heard Moon, well, I actually smelled her first, come into the pack, I wanted to ask her how it went. Everyone else was already asleep, but I couldn’t sleep. “Or you are too scared.” Ronin said. “I’m not too scared, I just don’t want to wake up t

Moon’s pov “We can’t.” I whispered, scared to say it oud loud. I wanted to, so badly, but it wasn’t smart to kiss Kai now. “I know.” Kai said and he kissed me. We stood there, looking at each other. It was almost like it used to be, before all this bullshit. But we were different people now. We were both hurting and all I wanted was for Kai to feel better. A break from everything. “Would it help make you feel better?” He nodded, “yes, but you don’t have to, if you don’t want to.” But I wanted to, badly. I knew that it would make me feel better too. Just for a short time. The sparks I was feeling right now, were proof of it. We could make each other forget, for a little bit. "Well, then," Kai said and he kissed me. I had felt so bad for Kai. Losing his dad, not being able to be there to say goodbye. I had a lot of fond memories of Alpha Tallon myself. Which was hard, considering he was the one that ordered the attack on my pack. I wanted the man dead, but when it actually happ

  • The Alpha That Couldn't Remember   41. Tickles

Kai’s pov Moon cried for hours, while I held her. Until we were both too tired and we fell asleep. I woke up, with Moon still lying on top of me. “You called her “my Moon,” last night.” Ronin said, first thing when I woke up. “No, I didn’t.” “Yeah, you did. She is our Moon. Our mate. And we belong together.” Ronin, clearly approved of what we did last night. It was wrong, but fucking hell, did it feel right. Those sparks everywhere we touched and we had touched a lot. Her scent, all over me. Everything was right about last night and at the end, I just wanted to savor it. Knowing it wouldn’t last. So I went slow and took my time. Took all of Moon in. I wanted to remember how she felt, how she tasted. Not Mona, I knew what Mona was like. But Moon. She was the same, but different. Moon had learned some new tricks, her body had matured and she had scars and muscles, she didn’t have before. Moon felt deeply, I could sense it through the bond. She hurt deeply, loved deeply, protected d

Moon's pov We drove to my old packground with Alpha Malcom's men and his Beta. We could have shifted and ran, but we wanted to save our energy for the battle that was to come. We would all be meeting there and then split up into four different groups. Most of these group had one or more member of each pack, this way we could still communicate with each other. Tabitha had another idea, how some of us could communicate, but I didn’t feel she realized what her idea might actually mean. “You mean, when she suggested Kai marks you as well? So you’d be able to mindlink? And he’d might be strong enough to withstand Helena’s magic?” Angela growled. She was pissed with me for dismissing Tabitha's idea so easily. But I couldn’t do that to Kai. Since I had marked him, he would be able to feel me getting hurt. But once we were both marked, we would be tied together forever and it would hurt even more if I died. It would be too hard to deal with, losing your mate. Enough to hinder him, during

Kai’s pov Could there actually be a chance for Moon and me to move on? Could there be a future? “As much as I like your way of thinking right now, we need to focus on this fight!” Ronin growled. Moon’s wolf Angela was leading our group as we ran passed the other wolves fighting. The closer I got to the Crimson Moon pack, the more I could feel my packmembers again and I kind of wish I didn’t, because there were a lot of packlinks breaking in a short amount of time. Helena had turned the soldiers of my pack into feral wolves, killing anyone on sight. They fought without fear and it looked like they weren't even feeling pain. There was no way to hold them back, without killing them or at least almost killing them. They just kept going until they couldn't move anymore or were dead. Alpha Malcom’s soldiers were fighting them off on one side, the Wolvin pack was attacking the rest together with Alpha Boden and his soldiers. We had the numbers to beat them, at least we should have, but t

Moon’s pov- ONE YEAR LATER -"Luna?""Luna Moon?"I kept forgetting that I was now Luna."Yes?" I said as I turned around.A mother and her kids were standing there looking at me."Wow, you’ve gotten big." Her little girl said."Ashley! You can’t just say those things." Her mother scolded her."It’s fine. I am big. But can I tell you a secret?"Ashley nodded her little head."It’s because there are two babies inside of me.""Wow! two!" Ashley said excitedly. Her mom smiled at me, "I just wanted to thank you. Alpha Raider has been a wonderful Alpha and has handled everything on his own so well for all these years, but having a Luna is really special. We feel complete, and you both have done such wonderful things for our pack. The Crimson Crescent Pack is on its way to becoming one of the most powerful packs in the whole country, thanks to you and Alpha Raider. We’re really proud to be members."I smiled and was almost brought to tears. Stupid hormones."Thank you; that means a lot.""W

Kai said to the midwife, "She didn’t mean it like that."The hell I didn’t.The midwife smiled at us, "don’t worry, I’ve been told worse.""You know, I read somewhere that an orgasm can help with the pain." Kai suggested."An orgasm? You’re thinking about sex right now? That’s the thing that got me into this situation in the first place.""No, I didn't mean it that way, I,-""Just go hang out in the other room with Diego," I yelled, "I need to focus, and Mary will call you when the baby is almost out."Kai nodded and left the room, looking defeated."Maybe I shouldn’t try to have a baby?" Mary joked. "It looks painful, and it turns the future mother into this scary beast that even drives away alpha males.""You want out too?"Mary laughed. She wasn’t scared of me. "No, I can handle scary Moon.""So you’ve been trying to make a baby?

Mary’s povKnowing Moon would give birth in a few months sped up the whole house's construction. Alpha Raider even jumped in to help, and Moon sent some people from our pack to assist as well.It also meant that once the house was done, which would be in a few weeks, Diego and I would start living together.I looked forward to it and was anxious at the same time. I was used to having my own room, my own space, and not having to think about another person. But falling asleep next to Diego and waking up next to him every morning would be wonderful. Knowing I could snuggle in those big, hairy arms of his would be worth giving up some of my personal space."Moon and Raider would have no issue with giving you another room. The house is big enough." Beth, my wolf, said.I didn’t need another room. Diego and I wouldn’t be spending most days together, so this would be just evenings, nights, and mornings. And days off."So plenty of time," Beth joked.I had grown a lot more comfortable around D

I said, "You don’t fucking have to. I mean, it’s just a question.""Maria is her best friend, and soy tu mejor amigo?" said Diego, laughing.I knew what Amigo meant. "I am not your fucking best friend. We’re not in high school."He nodded his head with a stupid smirk on his face, "did you learn Spanish for your amigo?"I growled, "never fucking mind, Diego. You’re getting way too familiar anyway; I wouldn’t want to live with you again."He smiled at me despite my anger, "Maria and I would love to live in the house with you, Alpha Raider. We also talked about perhaps building our own casa in the future.""Well, mi casa es su casa, right? You and Mary are welcome to stay at the packhouse." I said, "for Moon of course. She would love it. Diego’s povI knew Maria could handle herself, but I felt this strong urge to protect her and make sure she was okay. Maria was the strongest person I know, but I felt like sometimes she tried to be even stronger and wouldn’t admit when something was wrong.I had felt nothing during our bond because I was most likely sleeping. But I did have this vivid dream of fighting people, which must have been because of Mary. Now that we’re both marked, we feel everything the other feels, and although I already knew Maria was a lot more sensitive than she looked, I hadn’t suspected to feel so much from her. She felt deeply, just like I did, but she kept them hidden by acting though."So, you want to check up on Mary, huh?" Alpha Moon teased."Por supuesto [of course], just like you went with Alpha Raider, no?"Alpha Moon laughed, "yeah. But Mary was doing her job, and my mate was being a reckless idiot. Going in alone could have gone so terribly wrong.""He was doing his job también [as well]. He

Kai’s povA loud scream tore through the packhouse, and then there was silence. We walked down to see Luna Suzanne and Darius in the living room, hugging each other."It hurts, honey, but I’ll be okay. You matter more to me." Suzanne said to her son. We weren't needed here anymore. I wouldn't want to hang around with the person who killed my mate just a few seconds ago.I looked at Darius, and he nodded his head. I could feel his alpha aura now; the transfer was complete. We left the packhouse and walked to the car. We weren’t stopped by any guards, and the gates opened for us to pass through. Darius, sorry Alpha Darius must have told them to let us pass.Ten minutes into our ride home, Moon sighed."Kai…""I know, I’m fucking sorry.""You can’t just do these things, what if something happened?"I shrugged my shoulders, "it didn’t.""And you can’t just talk for me. That was not your secret to tell. I am a damn Alpha; I can handle my own problems. I don’t need a knight on a white horse

I asked."Yes, my Moon.""The same guy that tried to kill you literally an hour ago?"Kai laughed, "the same fucking guy. I trust him. I don’t know why, but let’s just say it’s a gut thing.""Well, I have a gut feeling too, and it says that you’re being reckless. Going inside Alpha Paul’s territory with his son. If he does kill you, it looks like you provoked it." "Alpha Paul isn’t strong or brave enough, that’s why he sent his pup to do his nasty work." Kai growled. "I’ll be fine.""Yes, you will.""What’s that supposed to mean, -" And Kai stopped as soon as he spotted Angela beside the road."I'm coming with," I mindlinked and switched back, naked beside the road.I'd been waiting for a car for about ten minutes. Kai’s povThe first few days were just the fucker following me around. He didn’t say much, and I was grateful; I already had a beta and a gamma who wouldn’t shut up. Diego in particular, goddess, did he even have a filter? It was like every thought he had needed to be said out loud. Even if no one could fucking understand him anyway.I showed Darius around; he watched Hudson handle the books without seeing all of our finances, and Darius watched Diego train his soldiers. I had no fucking clue what we were doing. Is this how you train a future Alpha? Or do I need to put him to work too?Alpha Paul didn’t find shit in the ground, just like we expected, but he wasn’t finished yet. He still had a few days left, and he wanted to use them all. I mean, I wouldn’t fucking mind seeing my mate touch herself.I looked at Diego, "now we really need to get that land."Diego nodded, "Si."Okay, chatty catty wasn’t really in the mood to talk this morning.
