CHAPTER 73

Michael’s POV

I woke up to the sounds of birds chirping and rustling leaves, like in the movies. I knew just right then and there that the day would be awesome. I noticed that the sun had not really come up, and if I should guess the time, it would be 5 a.m.-ish or 4:50 a.m.

A slow smile spread on my face. With my eyes closed, I stretched out my hand to the other side of the bed, and I froze. My eyes flew up, and I realized that the bed was empty.

Nora was gone. I sat up and looked around. My heart raced. Don’t behave like a little sissy, Michael; she did not run away.

Okay, maybe she went to the bathroom. I laid back in bed and calmed my heart. As I waited, I began to think about the thrift between us.

Was I being an asshole for not forgiving Jake? I know people changed, but Jake?
