Michael reached down and scooped me into his arms. “ He got her some water, and he walked to his room.

“It’s okay, babe. Everything will be alright, I promise,” he whispered a litany of soothing words down my ear. My shaking has managed to calm down as I began to hiccup. The aftermath of my cries.
