Nora’s POV

Claire had died when the attack on them got stronger. She was a girl caught in a crossfire, according to what Hercules said. It was they who shot her. It was those goons that were with her.

It was raining cats and dogs as we gathered on the burial ground. Everywhere was littered with people of color. Malia had her eyes red like those of someone who had been drinking. She is leaning on Zen’s chest, staring out like a zombie. All traces of color drained from her face. I couldn’t help her with her pain, but I told her how sorry I was. She had nodded earlier at my words. Not even sparing me a glance.

I looked up at the pictures of two smiling girls who were an exact copy of each other. Without the change in hair color, Claire was just Mila and Malia, but this time slimmer. I kept watching, hoping. I was praying that Mila would sit up from where she is kept and tell me that this is just a joke. She would call me a big cry baby, and she would tease me some more.
