It's just as I suspected.

Pedro is the one who's keeping Carla away from me. But I couldn't tell what he was using to turn her mind away from me.

In the remaining few days to the wedding, I tried to get hold of Carla, but everything was to no avail.

Her lines were suddenly blocked. When I came around to her place to know what happened, she was absent.

"She misplaced her lines. Pedro had to get her a new one. Isn't he sweet?" Mrs Parker had shared when I came over the third time to meet her.
