"Ms. Montalvo."
Ramina looked up when she heard a voice behind the door of her office. Thinking that it might be her officemate, she told her to come in.
"What's up?" Ramina uttered when she saw Danielle, one of her friends in the small company she works at.
Danielle looked unhappy so Ramina immediately worry over her. "Are you okay?" Ramina asked.
Danielle sighed and slowly walked towards her. She put a document on Ramina's table and motioned her to read it.
Ramina on the other hand was so confused at first until she read what was in the document. "W-What is this?" Ramina stuttered after reading the paper. Her heartbeat is getting faster every moment and she feels like her chest is drowning.
Danielle shook her head, getting frustrated. "I don't understand anything either. This matter will be discussed later before we leave," Danielle told her.
Ramina's shoulders fell while looking at the paper in her hand. It states there that the company she's working at will be firing out some employees due to financial problems. They can't provide for everyone's salary sooner or later because of the company's debts.
And if ever this will happen, she wouldn't secure her finances anymore. What will happen to her if she loses this job? What will happen to her daughter if she gets fired out from work?
When Danielle noticed Ramina's face, she sighed. "Stop thinking anything, dear. We are not yet so sure that one of us will be fired out from this company," Danielle told her.
Ramina massaged her temple. "Damn it, I'm getting stressed out," she whispered to herself.
Danielle tried to lift the atmosphere but Ramina was too focused on what will happen later. When Danielle left to go to her office, Ramina didn't help but be in tears.
She wasn't sure that she will be fired out but she feels bad about this. "Oh, God. Please, have mercy on me and my daughter. It's hard to look for a stable job to feed her needs. I need this work for my daughter. So please, don't take it away from me."
As time passes by, Ramina couldn't help but feel anxious. She was so sure as hell that her face is as pale as paper as of the moment. And when the clock strikes at 3, everyone was called to gather for a meeting.
Ramina's heart is beating so fast and hard inside her chest while listening to her boss's announcement.
"I gathered all of you this afternoon to announce something. I know that after this, most of you will be mad but I don't have any choice, this is also for the good of the company," their manager began speaking.
The employees started to make noises with their whispers so their manager signaled them to shut up their mouths.
"For the past months, our company had failed some of its investments with the other companies. And this results in us being in debt. Sooner or later, we can't assure your salaries anymore so we needed to lessen our employees, especially on the marketing team," their manager added.
"Sir! That's unfair!"
"Sir! This is the only job we got!"
"Sir! I am willing to receive a small amount of salary! Just don't make me leave my job, sir!"
Other employees started to complain about the sudden announcement of their manager. Everyone started to panic and desperate just to stay at their jobs.
"I will call names on the marketing team. And I'm so sorry in advance but I need to do this for the sake of you and our company. I don't want to disappoint all of you once you get your salary because I know that you deserve more," their manager said in a monotone.
Ramina's heart is thumping wilder and wilder every second. She feels like she's going to pass out in a moment from now!
"I'm so sorry, Ms. Montalvo, Mr. Matteo, Ms. Curtis..."
Right after Ramina heard her surname, her mind went black and everything became mute for her. Ramina's lips parted while looking into nothing. She can hear nothing but her fast heartbeat as worry and disappointment consumed her system.
"Ramina!" Danielle tried to call her friend but she failed. Ramina already left to go to her office.
Danielle shook her head and sighed. She knows how important this job is for Ramina. But she can't do anything to change their manager's decision. If she can do something to help Ramina, she will. But for now, she should not meddle with the company's decision because it could also affect her job.
When Ramina entered her office, tears immediately pooled in her eyes. It took her a long time before getting a stable job and now, this will happen. It was a difficult ride, she can't measure how many tears she cried while feeling disappointed at herself for reaching nothing. Now, she will experience it again. She will go back to nothing and will try to survive again for their everyday living.
She spent the remaining time packing and fixing her things in her office. She will miss this place, for sure.
A moment after, a knock was heard on the door. Ramina was still busy with her things so she won't know who it is.
"Come in!" Ramina uttered.
"Maxine..."
When she heard a familiar voice, she immediately turn around to face him.
"Anton!" Ramina uttered with a smile on her lips.
Anton is a tall man with tan skin. He is indeed a beautiful man with his hair in a brushed-up style. Anton works in the same company as Ramina. Maybe he heard about the announcement earlier that's why he came to visit Ramina's office.
Anton walked towards her. "I heard about the meeting earlier. Are you okay?" he worriedly asked.
Anton touched Ramina's elbow. "Hm? Are you fine?" he asked once again.
Ramina was already used to Anton's gestures. She thinks that it's just a friendly gesture. "Yes, Anton. I'm okay, there's no need to worry over me," she said with a small smile.
Anton went closer to her. Ramina tried to distance herself because she was getting uncomfortable but Anton's hold is so tight that she can't move already. "I told you. You can live in my house together with your daughter. You won't need to work anymore because I will provide for your needs," Anton said with conviction.
Anton liked Ramina ever since he saw her. He was pursuing her for a month now but Ramina kept on rejecting him.
Ramina sighed before meeting his eyes. "And I already told you that I can provide for my daughter's needs. I don't need your pity so please, stop already. I will never rely upon someone no matter what happens, Anton. You should know that because you're my friend," Ramina told him.
Irritation filled Anton's system when he heard the word 'friend' from Ramina. He doesn't want to be just her friend. He wanted more.
Anton sighed before stepping backward. "Okay, I understand. I'm so sorry for mentioning it," he calmly said.
Ramina just smiled as she tapped his shoulders. "Thanks for worrying over me and my daughter, Anton. You're a good friend and I'm thankful for that," she genuinely uttered.
Anton just smiled and talked to her about random things. When it was time to leave, Anton offered to drive her home. Ramina did not budge anymore because she also wanted to save money.
"Thanks, Anton," she said when they arrive in front of her house.
Anton smiled and reached for her face to touch it. "Call me if you need anything," he whispered as he lean towards her to kiss her forehead.
Ramina's forehead ceased at the sudden move of her friend. When Anton left, Ramina couldn't help but sigh. She don't want to assume anything but Anton's actions were already confusing her.
She just cleared those thoughts away before plastering a smile on her face. She needed to be okay for her daughter. She doesn't want her daughter to worry over her.
"Prescelle!" Ramina instantly called her daughter when she entered their house.
"Mommy?"
A genuine smile immediately formed on Ramina's face when she heard the tiny pitched voice of her daughter.
"Mommy's here, baby..." she announced while taking off her sandals and placing them on the side.
In an instant, she just saw Prescelle running out from her room wearing her pair of pink pajamas and a doll in her small hand.
"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" she chanted joyfully as she spread her small arms, ready to hug her mother.
"Prescelle!" her babysitter worriedly called her because the kid is running, she might fall.
"I got her, Yaya!" Ramina told her.
Ramina can't help but melt as she welcomes her daughter with wide-open arms. "Mommy! I miss you!" Prescelle giggled and immediately jumped to hug her mom who is now squatting on the floor to reach her lever.
"My baby..." Ramina softly uttered as she caressed her daughter's hair.
"Are you tired, mommy? Your voice sounded tired," Prescelle said in a small voice.
"I was tired but not already, baby. You regain my energy." Ramina giggled as she pinch the cheek of her daughter.
"Love you, Mommy!" Prescelle giggled and it is music to Ramina's ears.
The worry Ramina got from her work temporarily vanished because of her daughter. Prescelle seemed to notice that her mother is having a hard time that's why she made her happy as much as she can.
"Good night, baby..." Ramina whispered when they lay to sleep.
That night as they sleep, Ramina dreamed of her wild night on a bar. It was Cristal Haze's birthday when they decided to celebrate it at the bar. They drank their ass off, dance their hearts out, and enjoyed the remaining hours of the night.
"Ouch!" Ramina uttered when she bumped into someone while they were dancing on the dancefloor.
She did not completely see the face of the guy but she was sure as hell that he is indeed a beautiful man. His built was on place, he is tall, and smelled manly as hell!
"Hey, gorgeous," the unknown man whispered.
Ramina's system burned like fire after hearing his voice. "Hey..." she sexily chuckled as she enveloped her arm on the man's neck.
The man did not complain. He also put his hands on Ramina's waist and guided her as they dance sexily with the music.
The man's lips traveled on Ramina's neck which earned a sound from her.
Maybe it was the alcohol that reigns through their system because they don't know what they were doing! After a few minutes, they were already on the dark side of the bar, kissing each other like wild animals.
"Mommy!"
Ramina immediately opened her eyes when she heard her daughter's voice. She's gasping for air when she woke up!
She can still feel the touch of that unknown guy. It was always her dream whenever she sleep at night! She wanted so bad to forget about it but her mind wouldn't let her. It feels illegal to forget the unknown guy who is also the father of her daughter.
"Oh, my God..." she just uttered in disappointment.
"Mommy, you were having a nightmare..." Prescelle pouted.Ramina gulped nervously. It felt like a sin especially that she dreamed of that!"I'm so sorry, baby... Did I disturb your sleep?" Ramina softly asked. She went closer to her daughter who is now sitting on the bed, adjacent to where she's laying.Prescelle nodded and softly gasp. "But it's okay, Mommy. I know you're tired from work... I will sleep now," Prescelle said, sleepiness is evident in her voice.Ramina sighed and guided her daughter to sleep. She laid her down on the bed and tugged the comforter on her body."Sleep tight, darling..." Ramina whispered."I love you... mommy..." Prescelle uttered before finally dozing off to sleep.Ramina just checked if her daughter is already asleep before going out of their room. She then went to the kit
Anton always thought that Ramina is a straightforward kind of woman. She will not gonna lie to someone if she found that person attractive. Anton knew that she was not lying the moment she told him she doesn't want anyone. But still, Anton did not give up.With his eyes teary because of disappointment, he faced her. "For all those years that we're together... you really did not l-like me?" His voice broke. "Even a bit? Huh, Ramina?" he desperately uttered. His heart is breaking as the second passes by that Ramina isn't responding. For others, silence means yes, but Anton couldn't apply that one to their situation right now. Anton knew that Ramina isn't answering him because she don't want him to get hurt by the truth she'll gonna tell him.Anton sadly smiled. "Ramina... Do you l-like me even for a bit?" he asked again, even with a broken heart.Ramina did not look at him, she
Ramina was secretly scolding herself for acting unprofessional earlier. She couldn't believe that she just talked with the CEO of Mattheios Company! She scolded herself for not researching enough about the CEO of the company. She just knows its name but not the face!As she lines up for the interview for the position: of CEO's Exclusive Assistant, she can't help but sweat buckets. Her hands are kind of trembling and she keeps on gulping from time to time."Mrs. Ramina Maxine!" a staff called her.She immediately stood up. "Correction, Madam. It's Miss Ramina Maxine," Ramina told her.The staff nodded. "I'm sorry for the misunderstanding," she said.Ramina just smiled before entering the room where the interview takes place. She'll be talking with the hiring manager first and when she pass this interview, she will be interviewed by the CEO she's going to work wit
"When are you going to work?" Yaya Grace asks Ramina. They were eating lunch at a restaurant near the school of Prescelle. Since Ramina won't be able to do this more often with them once she started working. The interior of the restaurant is designed and painted green which creates a good ambiance. It's refreshing especially since the temperature inside is not so cold. It feels like you are eating in the middle of a forest.Prescelle is busy playing on her phone while the two ladies sat beside each other to talk since their order is still in the making."On Monday, Yaya. By that, I will leave Prescelle to you once again," Ramina says.Yaya Grace smiled then nodded. "Congratulations. I'm so happy for you," she sincerely said.Ramina's lips stretched to form a smile. "Thank you, Yaya... Always," she says.Ramin
Ramina did her work very well so her boss won't say something wrong with her. She doesn't want to experience what happened to the employees that day.Ramina was in her office, reading some documents on her email when Percy suddenly called her over the telephone. She certainly holds the telephone and put it in her ears while still reading a document. "Do you want anything, boss?" she asks."I want coffee," he said on the other line before ending the call.Ramina's lips parted. She was sure that his boss is cold and ruthless as hell but doesn't he knows how to say 'thanks' at least? She was frowning all the time as she make his coffee. She should be professional but right at that moment, she just wanted to throw the coffee to his boss. She doesn't like what happened the other day. A boss must not treat his employees that way. They work for him and he must be thankful fo
Days passed like a blur, Ramina was busy working to give her daughter a comfortable life. Sometimes, Percy will be rude to her but she chose to understand. All of it will be worth it once she gives her daughter a comfortable life.As usual, Ramina woke up early in the morning. Except that today, her eyes were puffy because of crying her frustrations last night. She went directly to the bathroom and did her thing before going out wearing only her white robe.Prescelle was still sleeping deeply in the bed when she glanced at her. Ramina went in front of the vanity mirror to apply some make-up on her face. For a moment, she busied herself watching her reflection in the mirror. It's been a long time since she saw her reflection, she didn't have the chance to because she was busy.Ramina has a natural contoured hairline making her face look intimidating, angled eyebrows that made her look like a rich momma, angled cheekbones
Ramina roamed her eyes around to survey the environment. Everybody was busy minding their own business. There wasn't anything strange about them.Ramina sighed. "I guess, I was just overthinking."On the other side, the chef was seen in the kitchen cleaning up a table. A mischievous grin was plastered on her lips while doing so.'All people are so easy to fool, especially the workers of this company with a bunch of stupid people,' the chef said in her thoughts.A moment after, the earpiece she was wearing vibrated, a sign that someone was trying to contact her."[How is it going, Rabeya?]"The woman named Rabeya started to roam her eyes around to see if anyone was listening to her and when she noticed no one, she started to take off her apron."My job is done, Dad. The CEO will be gone soon," Rabeya whispered.
After the turmoil or let it be the 'incident' yesterday, Rabeya Tisha Llardo became the gossip of the employees in the company. Everywhere you depart, you will give attention to her name. Every time you will go out, you will notice her face in a newspaper naming names about her.Ramina did not foresee that the incident would go out that fast. She never assumed how momentous and well-known their CEO is."Ramina! Can I have some of your time, please? I just want to talk to you about the incident that happened yesterday." Ramina immediately stopped walking when Mrs. Fujimoto appeared beside her.Ramina glanced at the files she was holding before providing the lady an apologetic smile. "Can we do that later during our hiatus? I need to ratify these papers to Mr. Mattheios," she said.Mrs. Fujimoto nods her head understandingly. "Yes, right. Work first. See you later!" she uttered before leavi
One sun-drenched afternoon, the trio found themselves in a local park, drawn by the allure of the outdoors and the company they shared. Children's laughter resonated in the air, harmonizing with the pleasant rustling of leaves and the distant hum of a breeze. A picturesque tableau of families engrossed in picnics and lively play surrounded them.Percy, sitting cross-legged on the grass, watched as Prescelle's eyes flickered with curiosity at the sight of the swings.Ramina looked at her daughter when she notice her looking at the kids playing on the swings. "Prescelle, would you like to go on the swings?" Prescelle pursed her lips with a hint of shyness. "Maybe later, Mom."Percy leaned in, his eyes twinkling with an idea. "Prescelle, did you know that swings were invented ages ago by someone who was enchanted by the magic of play?"Prescelle looked at him, intrigued. "Really? Who invented them?"Percy flashed a playful grin. "It was none other than a brilliant inventor named Charles
The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow across the cityscape as Ramina and Percy walked out of the office together. The weight of the day's work seemed to lift off their shoulders as they shared light banter, a bond growing stronger with each passing interaction. It had been weeks since the unsettling incident with Zeus, and amidst the challenges, something unexpected had blossomed between them.Ramina found herself drawn to Percy's strength and compassion, his unwavering support during her ordeal resonating deeply. And Percy, despite his initial reservations about forming personal connections at work, found himself captivated by Ramina's resilience and the genuine kindness she exuded.Their conversations began to extend beyond office matters, delving into their life stories, dreams, and aspirations. They were both surprised by the ease with which they opened up to each other, sharing not just their triumphs but also their vulnerabilities. Their connection grew de
The dimly lit office was heavy with tension as Percy stared at the evidence spread across his desk. A series of threatening messages, filled with malice, addressed to Rabeya, had been discovered, and Percy had managed to uncover the source of these vile messages - Zeus Amelio Ford. Percy's face tightened as he absorbed the information. His commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for his company's employees was unwavering.Without hesitation, he picked up the phone, calling an emergency meeting with the company's top executives, including Zeus himself. The mahogany door of the conference room swung open, and Zeus entered, his face a mask of bewilderment as he took in the stern faces that greeted him. Percy stood at the head of the table, his voice dripping with authority as he addressed Zeus, "Zeus Amelio Ford, you stand accused of sending death threats to one of our employees, Ramina. Is this true?"Zeus shifted uncomfortably, his eyes darting around the room before
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Percy and Rabeya found themselves at a cozy restaurant, sitting across from each other. The dim lighting and the soft music in the background created an intimate atmosphere. They both tried to maintain a sense of normalcy, but the unspoken tension hung in the air."So, how was your day?" Percy asked, trying to break the ice.Rabeya smiled, grateful for the attempt at light conversation. "It was busy, as usual. But it went well, thanks to your help with the tasks."He grinned, pleased to have made a positive impact. "Glad I could be of assistance. Teamwork makes the dream work, right?""Absolutely," she replied, and they shared a small chuckle. As the evening progressed, they delved into various topics, ranging from work-related matters to their personal interests. Each passing moment felt more comfortable than the last, and the unease they had felt at work slowly dissipated."I didn't expect all this to happen," Rabeya admitted, her gaze dropping t
The night air was filled with laughter and music as Percy stumbled out of the celebration with his employees. The festivities had been joyous, and everyone had a bit too much to drink. As he walked towards his car, Percy realized he couldn't keep his thoughts to himself any longer. He fumbled for his phone, trying to dial Rabeya's number. His heart raced with a mix of excitement and anxiety. Finally, after a few attempts, he managed to call her. The phone rang a few times before Rabeya picked up, sounding a bit surprised by the late-night call."Boss? Is everything alright?" Rabeya asked with concern in her voice.Percy hesitated for a moment, feeling the effects of the alcohol making his thoughts blur. He took a deep breath and decided to be honest with her, no matter how awkward it might be."No, Ms. Montalvo, everything is not alright. I need to tell you something," Percy said, his words slurred slightly."Okay, go ahead," Rabeya replied, sensing that something was amiss."I... I d
After lunch, Ramina went to Percy's office just like what he told her. "We are having a huge deal with the Gregor Company. I want you to have a work collaboration with Mrs. Fujimoto. Review the deal, revise the contract, and send it to me. I will work on it and present it on the board of directors. We need to do our best. Do you understand?" Ramina was listening intently, taking down notes on her laptop while Percy is discussing. "Are you listening to me?" Ramina stopped typing on her laptop and glanced at him. "Yes, why?" she asked in confusion. Percy's eyebrows furrowed. He leaned on his chair and crosses his arms. "You're literally busy typing whatever the hell is that on your laptop while I'm talking," he coldly said. Ramina was taken aback. "Uhm. . . I'm literally taking down notes on my laptop, boss." She blinked. Percy paused. "Oh. . ."Ramina pursed her lips to refrain herself from chuckling. That was kinda hilarious. She's often using her laptop whenever he's discussin
When Ramina came home that night, she received a message from Percy saying that she should get back to work by tomorrow. Because of that, Ramina fell asleep with an anxious thinking that something bad might had happen while she was gone. Ramina woke up the next morning and immediately dressed up for work. While she was having her breakfast, she called Vina to talk to her daughter. It only rings for a few before Vina answered. "[Whoever you are. . .fuck you.]" She said in a sleepy voice. Ramina winced and chuckled. "Good morning, my dear sister." She heard her gasped. "[Oh, damn. Ramina, is this you?!]" Ramina chuckled because her voice suddenly changed in a panic tone. "[God, I didn't know! I'm sorry!]" Ramina laughed in response. "I was just gonna ask you if Prescelle's already awake." "[Oh. . .She's still asleep. What time will you fetch her?]" "After work." "[Okay, I will tell her that you called. Are you leaving for work already?]" "Yeah. I'm still eating breakfast." "[
"Where have you been?" Ramina asked Vina when she saw her arrive at the pool. Vina let out a wide smile. "Oh, I just went to my room to change my clothes." She laughed. Ramina smiled and surveyed her outfit. "That bikini looked beautiful on you, Vina," she said. "I still have a new pair of bikinis in my room. Do you want to change?" Vina asks. Ramina shook her head. "Nah, I'm good. I need to watch after Prescelle," she said. Vina nodded. "Okay, okay. I will go there and talk to our relatives for a while. Are you sure, you're okay here?" Ramina nodded. "Yes." When Vina left, Ramina looked out for her daughter. Prescelle was on the side of the pool, carrying a beach ball while being chased by other kids. Ramina's eyes widened. She might slip because of the wet floor! "Prescelle, slow down!" Ramina shouted before walking their distance. "Mommy!" Ramina almost had a heart attack. Prescelle nearly slipped! Good thing she caught her immediately. "Oh, God. Baby, please slow down
"Is everyone here already?" Everyone gathered their attention to Roma when she stood up. Their other relatives just came by themselves. "I guess, we're all here already. Feel free to roam around the house, the maids already prepared the food too. It's in the pool area." "Yay! Pool!" The kids started to chant and hop in joy. Roma just laughed after seeing everyone getting excited. She always wanted to witness this special moment. For sure, it will be the most important memory in her life that won't be forgotten. "Ramina! Let's got to the pool, shall we?"Ramina diverted her attention to Vina. Everyone is busy chitchatting with each other, creating a loud noise all over the living room. "Mommy . . ." Ramina looked at her daughter. "Yes, baby?" Prescelle pouted. "I wanna play . . ." Right, when Prescelle said that, her cousins— Ruby, Lou, and Irelia came. The kids are pushing each other so cutely, probably hesitant about who should approach Prescelle. "U-Uhm . . . Hi? Do you wan
