KORA’S POV
A few years passed, and I met the most loving man. He treats me like a queen and makes me feel loved. Devon and I got married a few months after we met and it has been blissful, I rubbed my belly as I smiled. I was four months pregnant and I couldn't wish for a better life. I have grown to count not having the title as part of my losses. I wasn't given a reasonable explanation regarding why Lydia got the title of being the heiress of Hamilton, because she was younger than me. I shook off the feeling of sadness and I stepped into my office. This job was my dream job, I graduated as valedictorian in my college and I was hired immediately after I left school. I settled on my desk, and I started the work for the day before I heard a knock on my door. “Mrs. MCcall, your attention is needed at the Ceo’s office.” I nodded, dropped the work I was doing, and followed. I knocked on my boss’s door and greeted him with a warm smile. “Good morning sir, you called me?” He signaled for me to sit. I sat comfortably and adjusted my blouse, he looked at me and heaved a frustrated sigh. “You are fired.” I still had a smile plastered on my face because I didn't possibly think he was serious. “I am not quite sure I understand what you are saying.” “I am saying you are fired and it is not my fault. The company is relieving some workers of their jobs and you happen to be one of them. I want to thank you for your service and the sacrifice you have made for the company but I’m sorry you have we have to let you go.” I didn't say a word. I nodded and walked out of his office. When I got to my desk, I cried for five minutes or more because I had lost track of time. I knew there was nothing I could do to retain the job. I packed up my gadgets and cleared by desks. I wanted to take my leave but I needed to get some things off my chest. I walked into his office again to ask for my pay for the weeks I worked. “Take this envelope. I know you are here for the payment, I am sorry that we had to let you go.” “Thanks but it is funny how I am more qualified to work in this office than some of my male colleagues.” “Mrs. MCcall, what are you trying to say?” “ I hope you're not doing what I think you are doing in this office. Goodbye, sir.” I slid the envelope into my pocket and walked as fast as I could to my car. I was having a terrible day but I was certain Devon was going to make me feel better. He was always there to calm my nerves. This was a big loss but I am brilliant and I will be valued elsewhere. I drove home while blasting my favorite album. I sang along and stopped for ice cream. I reached my house and parked, I didn't bother to offload anything. I picked up my phone and marched straight into the house, ready to tell Devon everything that had happened. I opened the door and I was met with clothes, I wondered why Devon left all these clothes scattered on the floor, I took off my shoes cause my feet were hurting. I went straight to the bedroom, as I pushed the door open and I was thunderstruck. Lydia was riding Devon, they were both naked and his groans and her moans filled the room. “Devon!” I screamed so loud with my eyes wide open. They heard my voice, reached for the covers, and covered up. I couldn't utter a single word because I felt I was dreaming. “Oh it is you, Devon baby can we continue, please? I am about to finish.” Lydia spoke up, breaking the tense-filled atmosphere. “We will in a minute darling,” Devon responded as he leaned in for a kiss. “Devon, what is going on here?” Tears already involuntarily started dropping down my cheeks. “Look, I am in love with Lydia now, accept your reality now or don't it is none of my concerns. I can't be with you when I can have the heiress to myself. She is younger and more flexible than you if you know what I mean.” They both let out a loud laughter. “I am pregnant with your child Devon!” I screamed and threw things at them. I wanted the pain to end. “Hey, watch yourself. Leave here and take that unwanted thing with you.” They kissed each other passionately as I still stood in the room. I walked out after I had enough. As I glanced at my thigh, I saw blood trailing down. I screamed in agony as I called an ambulance. Immediately I was put on the stretcher I lost consciousness. I woke up to a beeping sound. My image was blurry and hazy but I knew where I was, I didn't forget anything that happened and how I ended up here. “I lost my baby, didn't I?” I asked the nurse who came to check my vitals. “I am sorry ma’am.” I lay by my side and cried silently. I swore to make Devon and Lydia pay, they killed my child. I was going to make their lives a living hell. I will get my revenge, I won't stop till they feel twice as much pain. A day had passed, I was asleep and I heard a knock on my hospital door. It was Devon. I was surprised to see him, he had flowers in his hands, I was a bit glad that he wanted to apologize and maybe make amends. “Here is divorce papers.” My heart sank but I made sure he didn't notice how his words affected me. I took the divorce papers and signed them. He looked at me with a dumbfounded look, I was certain he wanted to be begged. I was tired of looking weak. “Take this, and I never wanted to see you again.” I threw the divorce papers at him. “I will be glad if I never get to see you again. Now if you excuse me I have a date with Lydia.” I concluded in my mind to kill and bury any love I had left for Devon. I was done for good and I will get my revenge. I removed the drip in my hand and dashed out of the hospital. Amidst running away, I didn't see a car coming at full speed in time. I shielded myself, preparing for the impact.KORA’S POV“Are you insane?” I sat on the sidewalk and burst out crying. I wept so much I didn’t know I had so many tears in me. The man in question just stood by his car door and let me finish. “I am sorry for acting this way, I’m just going through a lot,” I said with a whimper. “That’s fine, do you want a ride?” I nodded slowly, he helped me up from the sidewalk and led me to the passenger seat of his car. We drove in silence in what seemed like forever. I heard him clear his throat and look at me.“I know you must be wondering why I cried so much back there. I am going through a divorce.” I didn’t mind oversharing. I wanted to yell about it, lament, and rant about my situation to anyone who could hear. “I don’t believe in marriages, I believe marriage shouldn’t exist.” I didn’t want to object, if I had met him a few days ago I would have argued and bragged about my husband and loving marriage. I sat there staring blankly. We stopped at a Ramen noodle restaurant. He stepped dow
KORA’S POV“I told you to only white covers, can’t you do anything properly?” I yelled at one of the servants at Derek’s mansion. We have been married for a few months, it wasn’t as bad as I imagined it to be. I met with his parents and they didn’t seem to like me very much but they were glad that Derek was finally married. Derek on the other hand couldn’t be more distant. We were married but we haven’t slept in the same bed, and no, I wasn't complaining I love it. Derek was respectful, he gave me everything I needed. He didn't maltreat me but he didn't make me feel special either. I was more like a stranger living in his house. We have only attended family gatherings together, we were yet to announce being a married couple. One day Derek came home famished, the servants were busy preparing for his parent's visit the next day. No fresh meals were cooked, so I quickly tidied up something for him. KORA’S POVThe day came, and I wore the most expensive jewelry I could find in my jewelry room. Yes, I have a whole room dedicated to just jewelry. After I dressed up, Derek was already waiting for me in the car. He wanted to show off just as much as I wanted to. We weren't close but he wanted to help me get revenge. He was already in the planning phase, now that everyone knew I was married to Derek, he could act on his plans. We drove to the location, I was confident with the amount of luxurious items I wore on my body, my husband was also popular and was termed the wealthiest man in the country last year. He was more handsome than Devon was, now that I am not blinded by my love for him, I can see that Devon wasn't particularly my type. “Ready.” I smiled and held Derek’s hand tightly. The doors opened, and a bright light welcomed us. This wasn't the house I and Devon bought, the house he took away from me. I was too weak and betrayed to fight for the house. Well, this mansion was
KORA’S POVToday is my 18th birthday, my big day. Today wasn’t just my birthday but the day I will be announced as the heiress of the Hamilton dynasty. I have worked tirelessly since I was 15 years old to be able to earn my spot smoothly. I passed with distinction, I helped out at the office and the list goes on. I powdered my face and smiled at my reflection in the mirror. I picked up the family heirloom, a gold necklace that has been passed down for generations. I tried to put it on before it was snatched away from my hand.“Kora, I will not let you wear this,” Lydia yelled at the top of her voice.“Lydia, not today, please. It is my birthday.” Lydia rolled her eyes.“You don’t deserve to wear this, after all, we don’t know who the family heiress will be.” I was never interested in being the heiress, her only problem in life was to get the latest outfits and bags. I stared at Lydia, I wanted to fight her and put her in her place but I knew better than to start a fight with mother’s
